Worship service is contemporary and can be a bit loud--but I like that!, If you're not a fan, there's earplugs for those who would like it softer. Great for young kids--with a preschool on campus (there's always a waiting list) and a very active children's ministry. Pastor is in his 30's, and his vision and actions upon that vision is definitely part of the entire campus and in the service.

I won't mention the others that I considered which then I eliminated as possibilities bc I read some not so good things about them from the low ratings of things like pastors who kept the church closed (much longer than even the State of AZ required), etc. This church was great and so welcoming. We got there right on time, but not early so the worship was starting. The lady at the info booth welcomed us warmly and got our info for my kids to go to Sunday school after the worship part of the service. The worship team was engaging without being "showy," and effectively led the congregation to focus on worshipping the Lord. They only sang about 3 songs and then Pastor Allen spoke on Ancient ways for Modern families: Flourishing. It was a really good message that was applicable to real life and most of all memorable too (if you can't remember what you heard, you can apply it). I even took notes and sent them to my hubby. After service, we went to the gathering room where there were a little bit of sweet treats left (there was a lot for mother's day it seems) and a few people came up and chatted with us. That was very nice of them and we had enough commonalities as Christians and similar views to chat at length even. Overall, this is a good church with solid bible teaching and we'd like to come back and visit next time.

The Church grounds are so beautiful. The kid's playground is planted right in the middle it and is open to the public Monday through Saturday. It is completely covered and shady, perfect for the Arizona heat. It's also turf, which is great for babies who fall a lot :) The playground is more suited for children 1-6(ish) - I could see it being a little boring for anyone older. I love that there are parts more geared towards little babies and other areas more suited for the "big kids". My boy loved the slides, making music with the instruments, and playing with the steering wheel. For the warmer months, there is also a splash pad! We had so much fun here, and I'm sure we'll be back.

The message preached in both services is the same and the two services are mainly for people with different tastes. During the 1st service they offer Sunday school for preschool-high school separated into different classes for different age groups. During the second service children between 3rd-5th grade have their own place to go to as well. The campus also has a nonprofit Coffee shop called Winfield's. In the southern part of the campus there is Chaneni House that takes clothes donations and gives it to the poor and homeless. In addition to the Sunday morning services there are things to do during the week as well. The Choir, children's, and high school ministries meet at the church on Wednesday nights. There's a wide variety of ministries meeting all year round. In the summer they offer a free week long Vacation Bible School. It's a great community that's very welcoming.

It's hard to tell whether it's the crucified Christ, since there is no crown of thorns or pierced side on what seems to be a flaming cross. The mosaic of Christ holding St. Joseph is a novelty and has no biblical reference that I'm aware of. Other mosaics are interesting. The Mass was celebrated Ad Populum (facing the people). The Christian songs were sung by children on that particular Sunday. The servers were male and female wearing white albs. Extraordinary Eucharistic ministers assisted with the communion. It is the opinion of this reviewer that the general atmosphere wasn't conducive to prayerful reflection/meditation,

I prayed for a church that would help us worship, celebrate Jesus' birth, and would feed our spirit. St. Bernard did just that! Every architectural aspect of the church elevates the Truth and Beauty that is our Catholic Faith. As you enter, the beauty of the church is overwhelming, so much so, that it was difficult to focus on any one area for very long. The Crucifix was breathtaking, then I noticed the Holy Spirit and God painted above it, I have never seen this before! Throughout the church, there were mosaic glass murals depicting the life of Christ, they were remarkable. Adding to this, a next level choir was singing sacred Christmas hymns...it was like a heavenly angelic choir. Fr. Fred"s homily reminded us that Jesus was present with us on this Holy night. It truly felt Providential...my heart was full! Pope Benedict once wrote "[A]rt and the Saints are the greatest apologetic for our faith... If I look at this beautiful cathedral - it is a living proclamation! It speaks to us itself, and on the basis of the cathedral's beauty, we succeed in visibly proclaiming God, Christ and all his mysteries: here they have acquired a form and look at us. All the great works of art, cathedrals - the Gothic cathedrals and the splendid Baroque churches - they are all a luminous sign of God and therefore truly a manifestation, an epiphany of God. And in Christianity it is precisely a matter of this epiphany: that God became a veiled Epiphany - he appears and is resplendent." Well done St. Bernard, well done!
