People like what they like and often times if they don't know a place that you have scoped out on Yelp, they are still reluctant to go there. This was the case for Pigs Pearls. I wanted to go but no one else did so we went to Emes. Sure, its a great place and I think I enjoyed it more this time than the first time! Looking for seafood and meat? This is your place, Emes is very family friendly and can take groups of 9 or more with ease. There is a juice and fruit bar that must not be overlooked. The servers are friendly ( mostly females ) and very attentive. On this particular Sunday, the A/C was not at full power, so the room felt a little hot but the drinks kept on coming to combat the heat. Ask the server for lime water, you'll thank me later. It is not sour and is more than a glass of water with lime juice squeezed into it. It's like they blended the water with the lime. It was very refreshing. There are all sorts of seafood to order ranging from Coconut shrimp platter to Shrimp Cocktails. NOTE: Shrimp cocktails differ between the USA and Mexico. The difference is that the " Uno Cocktail de Camarron " Means you will either receive a goblet of warm broth of shrimp and octopus and plenty of other sea creatures or that it will be cold. This variation is also found between restaurants on the west coast of Mexico versus those on the East Coast. Please ensure you ask your server on how the Cocktail is prepared. If you are you thinking that you'll receive some deep fried shrimp and some ketchup, you will not find that here. Please my pictures for further explanation
I ordered Camarrons Zaragosa? The shrimp are marinated with an adobo base and then grilled with bell peppers and onions. It was a very tasty dish. This restaurant also serves Molcajetes as well. If you have never ordered a Molcajete, I would recommend it. It is a medium to large volcanic mixing bowl that is heated up. The ingriedents like shrimp, chicken or steak are then slowered into in the bowl with piping hot sauce. It is truly unique.
The prices are very affordable but the if you do not speak English you may struggle with attempting to order, but take your time and enjoy your dish and be polite, you won't regret it. read more
