I was very impressed with the level of care I received from the staff and Dr. Stough. Everyone was friendly and I didn't have to wait long.

Went in for a simple check in for tonsillitis after two trips to MedExpress didn't go too well…read more Cara and Melissa are absolutely amazing. I have horrible medical anxiety and I loved how the visit went. Wait time wasn't horrible either, it was my first time there, all in all probably an hour but I never go in any urgent care expecting to be seen immediately, personally. Got treated promptly and everything was great!

I took my husband to Valley Urgent Care at 9:30 am on Thursday for treatment of an infected…read moreingrown toenail. As we entered, my husband was told that there would be a 2 to 3 hour wait and that we could get my husband registered and then they would call us when it was his turn. Tim went inside at 1pm when we hadn't heard anything and he was told there were still 6 ahead of him. At 2pm I checked at the registration desk and was told that there were 3 people ahead of him.....at 2:30pm (having waited FIVE HOURS) he went into the facility and inquired as to how much longer it would be and the girl at the front desk responded with an attitude that they only had 2 providers and should be soon. Finally at 2:45pm he was escorted to a treatment room where he waited for 30+ minutes with no one checking on him or telling him anything. He went back to the front desk and asked if he had been forgotten and was all but yelled at that the provider would be in soon. At 3:30pm I entered and inquired at the front desk as to his status and was told that she would check, though the receptionist seemed very miffed that I was asking. I stood there waiting and the girl puttered around, clearly purposely wasting time....another patient entered and asked about the wait....you guessed it, she was told it was 2 to 3 hours....LIES! The girl glared at me and informed me that Tim was "with the provider" and she slammed the slider window closed. In a couple of minutes another lady, who identified herself as "Michelle and I am the owner of this practice" and said "is there a problem?". I explained that we had been told that the wait would be 2 to 3 hours and that we had waited SIX HOURS!....her response was "you can leave if you don't like it." While it is true we could have left, we went to this practice for TREATMENT....and six hours seemed excessive and the attitude and lack of professionalism by the front staff....and even more the owner....was ridiculous! MARY, the nurse practitioner who ultimately treated Tim was awesome....she was the ONLY bright spot in this deplorable facility. I would strongly advise you steer clear of Valley Urgent Care.....the lack of consideration COMMUNICATING if there were going to be delays shows a lack of respect for patients attempting to get care. Interesting that they have this sign posted....perhaps their leadership is the problem!

I highly recommend Sentara ER. I had excellent treatment twice in 2025. In May, I had…read morecomplications several weeks after a minor surgical procedure. A doctor in a different specialty insisted I go to the ER, where I was seen after less than a half hour although not arriving by ambulance, or bleeding or unconscious. l had several tests and two scans and was admitted in about 2 1/2 hours. It turned out I had pneumonia, although cardiac problems were a distinct possibility due to chemo I have been receiving since 11/24. After 4 days that included iv antibiotics, I was released and had a complicated plan of more antibiotics and inhalers after returning home. One morning in October, I didn't just spill coffee but dropped the cup as I filled it. Because I had seen my mother have a TIA ("mini stroke," I recognized that was what I was having. As doon as I arrived at the ER, I was signed in (but could barely sign my name by that time). I spent only 3 hours in the ER, having tests and scans, before I was admitted for several days. I had the same WONDERFUL ER nurse, Olga, as in May. Even with continuous monitoring of vitals, someone checked on me every 10 minutes or less, which was appropriate in the circumstances. I have made a nearly full recovery...this time, but repetitions of TIAs are likely with my age (80s) and other complex health history. P.S. I have experience with ERs in several other places I have lived...this is the best, and I have gone several other times in the last 14 years. For less urgent problems, I go to local walk-in freestanding clinics, but these two situations clearly required full hospital work ups.

Though the staff at the radiology clinic were helpful, professional, and friendly, I can't give…read moreSentara a higher rating because they are price-gouging patients. In the fall of 2025, I got a simple x-ray on my foot, and Sentara charged me $442. The same procedure in the same location had cost me $80 in 2024. When I called, there was nothing they could do but send it through a nurse review. I haven't heard back about the nurse review, but after two weeks I just got a "new bill" that was the same as the old one. My insurance doesn't cover x-rays, but as I said, they charged me $80 previously for the same procedure in the same location. Now it's $442. This is grossly higher than the Virginia average of $103 or the national average of $280. I won't be able to afford another x-ray, even with a broken bone, unless I go elsewhere. Sentara is not recommended due to cost.
