Sports Medicine and was immediately diagnosed with Trendelenburg Gait, meaning my glueteus medius and gluteus minimus tendons were ripped and torn from the bone. After an MRI which clearly verified my condition, Dr. Matthew Wham said that he could repair this. Because of my age, he couldn't be sure of the damage and atrophy until he got into the surgery, but he was hopeful. The surgery went VERY well! The 8 inch incision with 20 or more staples hardly hurt at all, and I am a real pain wuss. In 3 days I was up and using a walker, and I am in a brace from my hip to my knee for 2months, but I can tell that my previous constant pain down my right hip and leg is gone. Dr. Wham is amazing, and I would advise you to goggle him for his specialties and se if he can change your life, too!

I was wheeled into a fairly busy waiting room and was greeted with a pleasant smile. Cherie brought me back 45 minutes later, which I didn't feel was too long due to the number of people already waiting before me. The attending physician Ryan was able to consult my x-rays from Mission and explained to me where the fracture occurred, and how long I would need to remain in the hard boot. I scheduled my follow up appointment two weeks later with him. Considering the circumstances and the holidays, I felt this walk-in clinic did its job very well.

I was recovering from a soft tissue foot injury, am a diabetic type 1, so pay attention to my feet. I had called my medicare insurance company and was assured this company is an approved supplier. My first visit was great, with no waiting, they answered all questions, explained that my insurance worked by calendar year, allowing one free shoe, plus two inserts per year. As this was early Aug. they suggested to get all now, allowing for support for the injured area, then return in January to be fitted for new shoe and inserts that would change as my foot healed. They answered all questions, and even had choices regarding new designs including slip on sport shoes. So I get to keep my beloved Brooks as well. Will update when I return for the insert and shoe fitting.

He is a excellent down to earth Dr. Not only is he a Great Dr. But he comes off as being a wonderful Man. He was very happy to hear how I was doing. I couldn't be luckier to have had him as my surgeon. Very good at what he does. Since my 2nd one I've had this year the last one was July 12th so he needed to do new x-rays and told me the screws he put in are doing great. I didn't know that the screws they use have holes in them to allow the bone to grow into the screw over time. The staff is always very friendly as well. I won't have to go back now for another 4 months to be checked again. If your in the Asheville area make sure you see him!!

I decided to make an appointment instead and she asked "what body part?" and I told her my hip, then she told me the first available appt was in 16 days! so I opted to wait.... And I waited...and waited. I watched an older gentleman walked in 45 mins or an hour after me and heard him being told that there were 15 people in front of him, yet he was called 20 minutes before me!!! Then I watched more and more people get called that came long after me...and I kept approaching the desk and they would say "you're next, they're preparing your room" and then they'd call another person that came in an hour after me, and then another and another. First I was told there was only two doctors, then that there were surgeons and they had to see certain (walk in?) clients and then they said there were 12 doctors?! After being in there for 2 hours freezing to death in their ice cold waiting room shivering uncontrollably, I truly started to lose it and they finally took me back! I don't know if I was bumped intentionally or what, but things are not run fairly there. I love Dr. Gabarino, and I would give him five stars, but their "call system" is an unfair mess and almost traumatizing! After finally getting out of there 2 1/2 hours later, a lady exiting at the same time as me, had exactly the same experience as me. She was also a walk-in and saw people get called that had arrived as a walk-in looooong after she had been there and seemed be getting bumped, while she was frozen to bone in their waiting room wondering why she had not been called. I used to love this Clinic, but this was truly a miserable experience. No, don't ever go as a walk in. Make an appt or don't go at all.
