She has a very inviting warm personality and it shows that she has mastered her craft. She was so patient and knew exactly how to handle every twist a little baby can throw at you. She was also incredibly compassionate to us needing to move dates due to unexpected medical issues with baby. She delivered our photos in a timely manner and oh my gosh.... she truly has a talent and passion! Our photos of our babe are beautiful, soft and sweet. We will treasure them forever. You won't go wrong with hiring her and you'll have beautiful memories to last you!

I commissioned Carrie Collins Photography to take photos of a cake smash/family session over a past…read moresummer/fall. The photographer came up with the idea to split them into two sessions, per experience, for which I agreed because I thought it would help her capture better photos. The first session (cake smash) turned out well. I thought these photos were well planned and nicely executed with the help of an assistant. It was the way the second session was handled in its aftermath to which I regretfully cannot recommend this photographer. The second session did not turn out photos that I felt accomplished our original purpose of getting a nice full family shot. I have 3 young children so I understand the challenge, but I thought her interaction with my kids (helping coax them into good shots) was mediocre at best compared to other family photographers that I've worked with. The photographer herself proposed a re-shoot but subsequently for the next 2 months, never followed up with any dates. When I asked if I could keep the few photos from the second session that I acknowledged turned out, she sent me low resolution images. My impression from this was that she didn't want me to have them. When I followed up in Oct (first session took place in July) about the re-shoot and images from the second session, I felt she became irate for some unknown reason. I am very disappointed that the subsequent communications from her felt unfriendly and un-empathetic for someone who works with clients and is in the newborn/maternity/family photography trade. In short, our communications deteriorated to the point where I no longer wanted a re-shoot. I'm not saying I didn't contribute to where we ended up. Clearly it takes two to engage in conflict. I did try to understand where she was coming from. But I also felt she as a business owner, dealing with me as a client, should have also taken more time to understand my feelings and find a way to repair our interaction. We eventually settled the transaction, but I feel hurt by what has transpired and the damage had already been done. Ultimately, I feel my family got nice cake smash (first session) and a few individual shots from the second session for which she does deserve credit but in the end fell short of my overall expectations. As someone who has had professional photos taken for years, and having worked with multiple family photographers and never having had an issue until this one, I can say with certainty that I will not be coming back to Carrie Collins Photography. It's unfortunate, because to me, the photos I did get and paid for (i.e. my special memories of my husband and kids) will forever feel tainted.

While we had a team of amazing vendors for our wedding, Steve and Jane are by far THE BEST CHOICE my husband and I made. We found them through a local wedding expo; by that time, we already had an excellent photographer in mind, but then we saw their pieces at the expo and could not get their artwork out of our heads. Steve and Jane are a wonderful couple who work seamlessly together. They're friendly, funny, professional, and just so easy to work with. We also LOVED their style of photography, especially how they use light to enhance their work. They are also extremely responsive, flexible, personable, and handled the crazy wedding schedule (especially the chaotic family portrait) calmly with zen. I think I would've broken down many, many times during the wedding day if it wasn't for them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND them for anyone who's looking for photographers who can take unique, timeless wedding photos. As a side note, Steve and Jane just opened their studio in Waldorf, Maryland. I loved working with them so much that if I need professional portrait in the future, I am definitely going to them!

I planned my wedding in less than three months (call me crazy-I wanted a summer wedding and didn't want to wait an entire year to get married from the time I was engaged) and found Steve and Jane at the Wedding Experience show in Dulles. First of all, they are my type of people! They say one of the most important things when choosing a photographer is finding someone you jive with and I just knew from the moment I met them both they were down to earth, cool people. They are passionate about what they do and it's so apparent every time we met. Our initial meeting was at a Starbucks in Capitol Hill, which they drove to from all the way out in MD, just to accommodate us. They came prepared with examples, a slideshow, printed books and armed with answers to every question we could think of at the time. They were also very responsive to emails and offered to chat/text whenever I had a question. Leading up to the date, I was extremely busy planning my wedding. One word of advice--be a good client, too! I was late with pretty much everything they asked me for (shot list, contact list) but they were super sweet about everything! They definitely can deal with a stressed out bride and groom very well! Our package included an engagement shoot but my fiance had to travel and then the one night it would have worked, it rained so I cancelled-again, very accommodating. I wish we would have had the time to do the engagement shots but it just didn't pan out! Hopefully we will do a shoot with them sometime in the near future! So, day of the wedding--pouring rain! My dream outdoor wedding was ruined and at the last minute we had to go with Plan B. Jane and Steve were prepped for the rain (we did a few shots outside under an umbrella with a light in it and let me tell you those pictures came out amazing!). They also worked extremely hard to keep me occupied and do a full-out bridal shoot due to some important members of our wedding party that were late. They went above and beyond to make our day extra special--they even helped pin flowers and fix my veil throughout the evening! I don't even know if they ate anything because they were constantly shooting (I have Italian guilt about this still)! They even stayed late because we ran over our time so much due to the wedding starting so late. They were by far the rockstar vendors of our wedding! On-time, professional, kind, worked well under pressure and did it all with a smile on their face! Fast-forward eight weeks and our pictures arrived via email on their site. I had a few questions about some shots and they addressed them right away. The pictures came out absolutely amazing!!!!!!!! I showed them to some of my friends and they told me they looked like pictures from a magazine. Steve and Jane, thank you for being so amazing, professional, fun and great at what you do! Brides-if you're looking for amazing photographers please give Steve and Jane a call.

Granted, the party was at a fancy place, fancy food, etc but it wouldn't have been the same without the green backdrop, all the great props and the photographer who took tons of great pictures for these teens. XOXO is better because you have more space with a real photographer taking the pictures. I recommend it highly.

I had never done a photoshoot before, and I had wanted four photoshoots done, each with their own concept and visual aesthetic. I was so impressed by how professional and easy the entire process was. Niharika provided me a safe space to express the wild ideas I had. She was receptive to the creative challenge, and we fed off each other's creative energies. That is how you know you can be yourself on and off the camera with your photographer: they treat you and your ideas with respect, and they are excited to grow with you as you model for them. Niharika provided a clear timeline of the photoshoot process, and met every deadline within it. The timeline consisted of the initial photoshoot consultation, Niharika doing research on the concepts, Niharika working with me to create an initial concept sketch, Niharika executing the actual photoshoots, and delivering the final edits. Again, not only did Niharika walk me through the process, and make me feel comfortable throughout the entire time, but she met every deadline and brought my visions to life through her photography and editing skills. Her customer service skills, her patience, her attention to detail, and her open-mind all provided an environment where I could express my creative self, without any need to worry about my insecurities.
