Stay away from this place!!!! DO NOT TRUST THEM TO WORK ON YOUR BOAT!!! These mechanics cannot…read morepossibly be certified to work on Mercruiser. I took my boat there to have them run a diagnostic on it for an alarm. They called me and told me it was an oxygen sensor and they could replace it. I told them to go ahead and replace it. I wondered how they would decide which one was bad because the boat has two o2 sensors. A couple days later they called me back and said, "your boat has two oxygen sensors so we need to replace them. both". They told me they would not charge for additional labor only for the additional part. A week or so later they texted me and said they could not get to the rear sensor without taking the front motor mount off and taking the front of the engine completely apart to "try" and lower the front of the engine enough to get to the rear sensor, Or they could put a small hole in the rear of my boat to get to the sensor and repair it with a plate. Trusting they had adequate personnel who knew what they were doing I said ok. They called me approximately 3 weeks later and said my boat was ready. I asked them if they tested the boat and they said they ran the boat and everything tested out good. I picked the boat up and parked it for two weeks. I took it and put it in the water and it would not get up on plane, would not accelerate over 3000 rpm and then the alarm came back on. I did not have this issue before taking it to them. I texted the service person I had been working with, Adam, and explained the issues and ended the text with "Any Suggestion". Of course I heard nothing back from Adam. Ironically they have a large sign over the service counter with bold letters that says "Communication" is key. I guess Adam can't read because he sure didn't communicate after I just paid the nearly $400 for nothing. So now my boat is in worse shape, and Sunrise don't want to talk about it. So I called a few more Mercury dealers and found a fantastic mechanic in Alabama. I took the boat to him and explained the issues. He immediately noticed the "patch job" on my boat and said, "what the hell were they thinking." He immediately opened the engine hatch, pointed to the exhaust elbow and said all they had to do was remove four bolts and drop the elbow and the oxygen sensor is mounted to the elbow. They cut a hole in your boat for no reason.". His response did not surprise me because I wondered the same thing when they called me , but I trusted what they said as professional mechanics. The next day the mechanic called and said they (Sunrise Marine) never reset the code in the computer, so there was no way they ran the boat or tested the boat as they claimed. He stated he reset the code, ran the boat on the hose, then took it to the lake. He advised the boat ran fine. So I set up a maintenance repair replace to make sure the boat was top notch. I had him change several components like the water pumps, thermostat, etc. While he had it apart, he pulled both oxygen sensors, and showed me Sunrise only replaced one of them, although they charged me for both and told me they replaced both. Now I see this as fraud! I have taken pictures of them (one is clearly not a new sensor) and I'm going to give the manager an opportunity to make it right. We'll see how well his "Communication" is. If I don't hear from someone soon, I'll be posting the pictures of their work, and talking with the better business bureau. I should have listened to the salesman, Joe, who told me not to let them work on my boat for service because I could save a lot of money. ".

I tried calling twice and left messages with no return call for weeks. finally called a third time and talked to Todd the manager who didn't seam bothered or apologetic in any way. he never called me back either. just some young guys pick up the boat and then drop it back off later with again an unconcerning attitude like they were bothered by the whole thing. was in the driveway when they pulled in and yelled F**K real loud cause they saw me. you can't be more unprofessional and out right disrespectful to people and their personal property. I will tell this story for a long time and will not be returning or recommending the Ships Chandler anymore.

My initial complaint was that the boat would come up on plane normally, full throttle, but in a…read morevery short time would lose rpm and at times shut off. They had the boat for 2 months. The initial diagnosis was a failed high pressure fuel pump. That was replaced, I questioned them on this because the pump had enough power to give me my normal rpm to get on plane. They told me that pressure was too low and was leaking fuel back into VST tank. Fair enough. They also diagnosed that the throttle centering sensor was also bad. That was replaced. The third problem found was that the thermostat was stuck wide open. That was fixed and needed to be fixed. I authorized all of those repairs. The last information I received was that the primer bulb was collapsing. Hummm, could have had some impact on an engine starving of fuel. I called for an update within a few days and the boat was ready. The bill totaled $1934 before taxes and credit card fees, I authorized all of it. I received the boat back on 3 Oct, 2022. Then next day I changed the oil. I noticed that the primer bulb had been replaced, I checked the bill and found no mention of it and they did not tell me when I picked my boat up. Might that have been the initial problem? May well have been. I don't think they are dishonest, just not equipped to diagnose my Yamaha outboard. On last thought, communication from them is next to zero. This has not been a good experience for me and I don't think I will use them again!

We did not have any expectations as to how long it would take to do repairs, but we certainly did not think it would take 5 MONTHS just to do the estimates ! We made dozens of calls over those months to inquire about the status. We got the runaround every time. When we finally received the estimate, it was over $44,000 ! We had only paid $75,000 for the boat a year before. Even though we had been without our boat for all those months, we decided to get a second repair estimate. We thought that amount was outrageous! We then proceeded to pick up our boat at the shop. The owners told us that we could take the boat, but that they were going to charge us $1000 for doing the estimate. We said absolutely NO! The owner and his son got immediately defensive and the wife even got in my face. They proceeded to LOCK US IN THE YARD AND WOULD NOT LET US LEAVE UNTIL WE PAID!! My husband called the sheriffs office and they showed up a few minutes later. After speaking to us and the owners of Panhandle Marine, we finally settled on $500 to release our boat. We were furious!!! We took the boat down the road to Auer Marine in Fort Walton and they accepted the boat and had the estimate and repairs done in less than two months AND at a cost of $12,000, thats $32,000 LESS THAN PANHANDLE!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR BOAT TO PANHANDLE MARINE!!!!!!!
