We visited the historic City of Ely today, and after a visit to the famous mediaeval Cathedral, decided we needed a spot for lunch. Most of the cafés nearby were full, but we eventually found this lovely little café on the Buttermarket. By "little", I do mean very small. They can only seat about a dozen people, but that shouldn't stop you visiting. (In good weather, there is outside seating as well.)
They serve light meals (filled bagels being a specialty), including sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, salads, and cakes. My partner had a pastrami bagel, and I had a brie and cranberry toastie. They both came served with salad and some crisps (potato chips). We also ordered hot chocolates (my partner's including extra cream). The food was really good - very tasty - and service was swift and friendly.
We would recommend this, and will certainly try it out again on our next visit.
