After the technician arrived, everything went downhill fast. I made it clear that I was on a fixed income and wanted to repair and not replace the ac unit, however, the technician had other ideas. They could have repaired it for $2200 which I knew was quite high, however that was downplayed. The technician explained the ac unit was old at 10 years and my unit's motor was special with two parts that costs more to repair so it wasn't worth spending $2200 when I could get a new unit for $10,000 to $14,000. After explaining that I couldn't afford to replace my ac I was connected to another person who was to come over later to discuss various options which were to include repairing at a discounted rate. That appointment ended fast because he was there to discuss options in buying a new unit and nothing else. I ended up contacting other companies that offered so much more help. In the end my ac was repaired for $950. The companies were upfront in the cost of the motor ($400 and the labor of $450 plus $100 service charge). I do not recommend ARS which was a complete farce on a very hot day.

It was a brand new completed house and just this week ARS is demanding everything that builder put in house like boots on ac vents, air filter ceiling registers be given to ARS. This is Federal Financial FRAUD. Every piece of burned ac gas heater not installed to South Carolina Builder's Code failed Horry County Code Inspection never worked from day one is at ARS building in Myrtle Beach AND THEY REFUSE TO RETURN $28,238 cash to home owner plus refuse to repair ARS damages. ARS on a recorded conversation stated they fired the ARS installer men. It is also recorded they were refunding the homeowner's cash payment in full and now are refusing due to ARS delay, delay, delay tactic they use. This is a new USDA financed house. USDA had to take control of AC Gas Heat failure and documented melted wires and soot and failed inspection reports and pictures were all given to USDA who documented ARS failure and got another AC company to make AC Gas Heat installation. Failed ARS unit had electric bill almost $300 for month. USDA new AC installer bill was under $50 for a monthly summer electric bill with new USDA AC company install with thermostat set at constant 68 degrees. New USDA AC company installed Trane 98% efficiency unit. ARS is refusing to refund the homeowner $28,238 cash and refusing to pay for damages to house ARS damaged.²
