The pups & I made our first visit to Elotes Gonzales this past Saturday night. The Yelp community knows I'm a Fuel City Elotes Esperanza addict. I ended up at Elotes Gonzales instead because I worked in the yard all day Saturday, was EXHAUSTED, dehydrated, didn't want to cook & didn't want to drive far (high maintenance much?) So, what does one do in this situation? Search Yelp for food near me of course! I was pleasantly surprised to see Elotes Gonzales pop up. The photos & reviews were a little stale, so I hoped it was still in existence. It is! It's on a 2 or 3 block area of Davis in Oak Cliff filled with taco stands and other Mexican food joints. I've lived in my new 'hood almost a year now & didn't know this area existed. The whole area smelled delicious!! Every taco stand was packed. At first, I passed the elote stand. I had a bit of trouble turning around in a packed taco stand parking lot. Once turned around, I had no problem parking in the elote stand lot. The lot is actually owned/next to a 9-5 type business. The elote stand uses it in the evening, so there's plenty of room to park at the stand. It'll be a taco AND elote trip next time. There were 3 people manning the shop. I ordered the XL for $5. They are served in 2 of the standard styrofoam cup sizes. I think it's more of a large...I'll have to take a better pic next time. I ordered mine "with everything." When the young lady opened the server, I was pleased to see actual EARS of corn. It has more flavor & when businesses use bags of frozen corn or canned corn, no matter how much they drain through the slotted spoon, it makes the elote kinda watery. She finished a couple of layers of corn, creama & cheese when I asked about hot sauce. She asked if I wanted to add some in the middle. There are 2 huge bottles on the counter. She pointed out one as hot and the other as medium. I saw another review that said the hot was HOT! (Not so sure about that), so I grabbed the medium. I added the hot sauce myself after the two layers....that was different. She finished up the layers & stuck a plastic spoon in it. No lid at this place. I'm OK with that, but I should have asked if they are available, sorry about that. I asked about their hours. They said they are usually open until 11 or 11:30, but the hours differ by day and season. She said they have a Facebook page & keep the hours up to date there. Ozzie had his big ol' squishy face sticking out of the rear window, so of course they asked about the gigantor-dog. (Dog friendly) It was nice to chat with all three employees. They were very nice. Ozzie visited for a bit then we took the elote para llevar. The elote was just OK. The corn had A LOT of flavor (from the ear!) but that's about it. The medium hot sauce was not hot at all. I should have added another layer of hot sauce. I was fairly certain I saw lemon pepper in another user's Yelp pic. I assumed that would be part of the recipe. I'm partially to blame for the construction. I was tired. I should have paid more attention. I'm going to return and try it again WITH PARTICIPATION. I'm fairly certain they have all the good stuff, and add them according to the customer's preference. The customer service was great. The base-flavor is great. I think the next visit will elevate to great as well. *Edit/Update. Ooops! I took a 2nd look at my photo with the yellow menu & noticed the cup sizes ARE in the upper right hand area of the photo.

Very disappointing they didn't put enough juice and put lots of ice but very little juice don't waste your money here

Good emotes, price is a bit high but is definitely worth it. I recommend to anyone in the Oak Cliff Area.
