This will be a long one- but please read before you decide to use EIA. My wife and I had planned a small wedding at the Victoria House &Teagarden venue last May (2020) and due to covid we had to push it off until May 1st, 2021. We still got married last year in a tiny ceremony that my brother officiated, so we decided to use this as a one year vow renewal since we couldn't get a refund. Keep in mind on May 1st, it was pouring rain to the point where we were under a flash flood warning. As soon as we got to the venue, my mother and I got into the dressing room with no issues. Behind us, my wife was denied access to the building because she had forgotten her mask in her car. (My mother and I weren't wearing masks when we entered) My wife asked if they had any masks to provide because she was more than willing to put one on, but the woman was extremely rude and kept telling her she couldn't come in and she needed to go get a mask. They made her, the BRIDE, walk back out in the pouring rain to get a mask. I had also received an email saying masks were not required a week before the ceremony. The photographer was late due to an accident on the road, which we understand, but we started the ceremony twenty minutes late and it's like that just threw the coordinator off completely. When my wife walked down the aisle, the coordinator forgot to have everyone stand up and forgot to play our walking song. My wife and her mother walked back out of the room, and the coordinator announced her arrival and played our song FROM HER CELLPHONE. The ceremony was quite lovely and we loved our officiant Shon. When we walked out of the ceremony, the coordinator played our walking out song from her cellphone as well. Nobody could hear either of the songs. The coordinator asked how to pronounce our last name so she could introduce us to the reception, then forgot to introduce us completely. She asked if we still wanted to do our first dance (which-yeah?) then proceeded to play our first dance song from her cellphone again and we danced in a tiny corner of the covered porch (because even though it was pouring we still had to have our reception outside). When I asked why she was playing music from her phone, she said her phone wouldn't connect to the speaker. About a minute into the song we gave up and moved on because nobody could hear it anyway. My wife then connected her own phone to the bluetooth speaker with no problem whatsoever. We paid an extra $1,600 to upgrade to another hour and have food. We picked out: a corn and bean salad, potato salad, 7 cheese plate, a 6 piece Boreshead meat plate, chicken salad sandwiches, and sweet rolls. What we got: 3 types of meat, 3 types of sliced cheese, potato salad, chicken salad sandwiches, and coleslaw. Not sure where the coleslaw came from or where my corn and bean salad went. But the kicker: it was all Hill Country Fare brand. ALL of my guests literally saw the employees take the food out of Hill Country Fare containers and HEB containers. The cupcakes offered were also HEB brand. When I asked if the chicken salad sandwiches had nuts in them the employees couldn't tell me so my mother barely ate since she is deathly allergic to nuts. The one thing I was looking forward to were the pictures because the photographer seemed lovely. Today I received my "gallery" and half of the photos are blurry with people looking different directions or eyes closed. When my mother emailed the owner to discuss a partial refund for the missing and incorrect food, we got no response. (Even though she was emailing me about photos) She purposely ignored my mother. We had to email three times and finally got $100 refund for missing food. We spent over $4,000 on something I could've done better in my own backyard. There's so much more but I'm reaching the character limit for Yelp. EVERY guest at this event expressed how disorganized it was. Please don't waste your money. read more
