Don't be fooled by the haters. I have purchased several trees and at least a half-dozen other fruit bushes and ornamentals from Elmore Roots. All of them have not only survived but done quite well. They all flower and bear fruit, and David is always happy to give advice on how to best care for your fruit trees once you get them in the ground at home. I have been to the nursery. No, it is not a French Garden, it is a working nursery. If you are looking to take a Sunday stroll through perfectly manicured rows of blooming apple trees, you will be disappointed. If I could give a zero star I would. DON'T BE FOOLED from the slick website! After finding their web site looking for nut trees, we decided to stop by while in northern Vermont and the place is a completely run down and poorly maintained. There isn't even a real sign on the road. Even with the initial hesitation, we did get out and look at the plants and decided to leave. The trees we looked at were in one gallon pots and were root-bound and beginning to root into the ground. The soil in each pot was about 1/3rd to 1/2 the pot, which means the trees were in there for at least 3-4 years and needed to be repotted. The worst was the price! For a sickly tree that was maybe 18", the price was $75!! There are many other nurseries that will ship bigger and healthier trees for half the price. I'm all for supporting business in my home state of Vermont, but I expect a decent quality. The web site is VERY deceptive. If your looking for amusement and want to see poorly kept and suffering plant specimens, by all means make the trip to visit. But DO NOT PURCHASE from this nursery. read more

I have raised and transplanted blueberry bushes an apple trees here in Vt for more than 40 years, bought plants from just about everyone at some point and I have to say Elmore roots are the worst, I ordered in Jan to get ahead of the crowd, field ready apple trees and 18 to 30 inch blueberry bushes, apple trees had almost no roots on a 6 foot tree one actually looked like it was hacked out of the ground with an ax, blueberry bushes were pot bound twigs with more than 50% winter kill and one even had some sort of hardwood tree growing out of the pot with it, will they make it ? Berry bushes probably will but it will take years to see fruit but the apple trees are pretty dam sad and even with as much prep as I have done I have doubts, save your money and try fedco instead, I can't give less than a one but I wish I could read more

Not happy I ordered two climbing rose bushes, when I got them they were clinging to life, I had a friend pick them up for me because the drive was far. At first I thought with a little TLC they would come back but to my dismay they haven't. When I called to speak to someone about this I was told they were fine when they left the nursery. REALLY, that's how you help your customers who spent $35 on each plant. What a disappointment. read more
