Elma has one library. It caters to a city (it's more like a town to me) of 500 people.
I got here on a Friday just before 5 pm. It was closed.
What I found confusing was two signs by the main entrance indicating the library's hours of operation. The information on both signs were different. One sign didn't list Friday hours at all. The other had the library open from 10 am to 2 pm.
If you do need to visit the library, it's best to call ahead and ask if it's open. I was curious and wanted to check the library out after visiting my friend at the cemetery down the street.
There is a book dropoff box at the back of the library. The accessibility entrance to the library is next to this box.
The main entrance is in the middle of the building. There are a couple of steps that you need to walk up to access the library. There are plenty of parking spots in the lot.
I like that there are activities at this library, from joining the crochet club (I need that club badly!), to a friends and fitness session. The library board meets once a month.
The library's online site is not completely operational. You can't open a library card, for instance. However, you have access to its entire online collection if you do have one.
I hope that someday, I'll be able to go inside the library and check it out. I'm happy that Elma has a library and that it's easy to reach off the main road in Elma.
