A great public library! 2 floors full of books, computers and activities. They have an amazing…read morechildren's area with books, videos for checkout, games, and play area. Lovely library. I have absolutely no complaints…read more Online system makes it really easy to find the books you're looking for. Just go to their website, use their Catalog, and look up to see if they have the book/movie you want - and where it is and whether it's checked out. Makes it really easy to plan ahead and grab and go when I get there. Books are all on an electric system. Scan your library card, put the books on the scanner, and it'll check them out to you. Really simple and much faster than waiting in line. Books are usually in great condition. Definitely readable and very rarely torn up. DVDs have been hit or miss. We've always reported bad ones to librarians, though, so I hope they take that seriously and replace or remove unworking ones from circulation. There's also an interior Used bookstore in the library (the only one in town, I think?), but I've never been in there. The staff are super fun and welcoming, and while patrons aren't always super-quiet, most are respectful, and I've never seen any librarian need to quiet someone down. The children's area is pretty close to the front of the library, though, so if you require complete silence, I'd recommend one of the upper floor areas away from the kid's section. Parking is a private lot right outside the building. There are usually spots here as most Main Street customers seem to respect the library as patron-only. It's possible to drive up and drop someone off right by the door if you'd like. There's also an afterhours/outdoor item drop as well. Plus, there's the fact that the Library is right next to downtown. Return a book you checked out and then go walk a couple blocks to enjoy lunch at a small business. Win-win! The library also has a family/gender-neutral bathroom as well.

Initial plans were to hold the ceremony up on the roof, but outdoor temperature and humidity, coupled with daily forecasts of thunderstorms, necessitated the change in plans. No worries, as they were all still able to get photos of the wedding party up on the roof and at other library locations. Since we were all here for rehearsal and wedding the two days I visited the library, I was not able to explore much, except for the Greyhound Deli & Cafe on the first floor, which was right underneath the conference room where the reception took place and the nearby Whipple auditorium, which were on the second floor. The space outside the conference room had tables, chairs, and couches and was designed so that you may look into the cafe's "courtyard" below. Oh, and I really enjoyed checking out the "green" roof and the porcelain patio furniture! Nice views of Pepsi's delivery areas... Hehe! All three levels are easily accessed by stairs and elevators. Would like to explore more on a return visit sometime in the future.

However, it is a very nice welcoming facility. Very technological in nature, but don't let that scare you off. The staff is very friendly and professional. Your library card can be used at both Cedar Rapids libraries as well as Hiawatha and Marion. The parking lot is very small in size, but with helpful tutoring from library staff you can park on the street and in the adjoining parking ramp for two hours with no charge. Just ask how to do it. I'm looking forward to nice weather so I can sit up on the expansive, expensive 'green' roof. That should be delightful.

The professors really get to know you, and they are not afraid to reach out and help you individually to be the very best you can be. I learned a lot about scholarship and writing while at Wartburg, and even more so, I really learned how to think. The student body is like a real community, the library is amazing, and everywhere you go you really feel like people care about you. With my degree I went on to teach in an alternative school for high school boys who were kicked out of their home districts for behavior problems. I did that for eight years, and I have now entered graduate school with the hopes of becoming a mental health counselor. I owe all my early educational foundation experiences to Wartburg College and its staff. I am certain that without the foundation Wartburg provided for me, I would not have been as successful as I have been in the last ten years. Go Knights!
