There is no doubt that Elm Bank is a beautiful building, almost like a 5 star hotel. However if your loved one is suffering from Alzheimer's this is NOT a place I would recommend. While they have dementia care suites (ironically) they do not have the staff to deal with any dementia patients except those suffering from very mild (early-stage) symptoms. So if you send your loved one to Elm Bank be prepared to have to move them as soon as their dementia increases, in the case of our Mother we were told She has to go and sooner rather than later with absolutely NO sympathy from the Matron. When she left Elm Bank, the receiving home could not believe the state she arrived in (she looked like she had been sleeping rough). Within two months the new home has made a huge difference to our Mothers well being. Her hair is washed, she looks clean and is incredibly looked after (and well loved) by all the staff. At Elm Bank She was left out in a corridor with a cup of cold tea and a sandwich (absolute disgrace). read more
