I was getting a few chairs ready for a line dancing class that happens every Wednesday evening when…read morean older, female staff member walked into the room interrogating me. I had taken class there many times and had seen the staff member act suspiciously similar to other patrons, but I wasn't prepared for this interaction that left me never wanting to set foot in that establishment ever again. After her unnecessary interrogation, which I tried to politely respond to, she left for a few minutes, then walked back into class on two separate occasions to complain about me to the instructors while I was in the same room. I was a paid customer and the instructors are longtime renters of the community center. As if that wasn't bad enough, the staff member waited until I was near the entrance, bumped into me, then directed her attention to the thermostats. There were a lot of patrons in the room, so it was quite hot. The thermostats were set to 71, but she felt the need to turn them both to 72. After raising the temperature in the room, she finally walked back behind the bar. As a paid customer who was simply volunteering his time to help set up the room for dance class, the treatment I received from this staff member was deeply unfortunate. I will never do business there again.

However, I was never able to join the organization because the owner did not think I had the correct tools to be a part of this group, i.e., cell phone and/or GPS. We never really discussed any of this. I was threatened with a lawsuit as noted below if I would not remove a "negative review". "You are being asked by me today to take down the Yelp review in 24 hours or we go to court. It will be costly and unpleasant. If you think that writing that type of review over an email is OK without you ever being a member of my organization - that is slander. My lawyer has already advised me that you will not win without having met me or even having ever been a member of Silver Connections. An email is not sufficient cause to slander someone's business. I am meeting with my lawyer and business manager on Tuesday morning and will move forward if the review is not gone by then. When a person apologizes and you still will not accept that apology and if I offered to put this behind us and meet and you still will not understand that we all make mistakes, then I have no other option but for this to become much, much more ugly than it could have been if you do not remove the review. I have no bad reviews anywhere because I have run a successful business for 15 years dedicated to those age 55+. My lawyer has said "that in itself will be a testament in the courts." He is ready to bring in my members as witnesses and all my venue partners in the Triangle to how much they love our group and my leadership. I have been advised to block any communication from you moving forward and I have done so." I only post this for informational purposes. It is in no way to hurt the owner, but this kind of behavior is unacceptable. And it only got worse from there. The owner did a good response on her review to the original review that was posted and sent it to me on Yelp. However, she made all time Yelp history, according to the representative I spoke to, at sending the same response to my email the first day at over 50 times. After about 30 seconds of deliberation, we decided to peek-a-boo somewhere else. The club itself seemed nice enough...a nice bar, billiard tables, catwalk dancing stages complete with poles. But the dancers and clientele were almost exclusively the darker non-upscale variety (which I have nothing against but just not really my style). However, I feel that it was a friendly place as we were greeted by dancers and bouncers encouraging our stay. Had the impression that there was a snack bar but they only serve chips and water/ sodas. There is a bar but I suppose you'd need to be a member. They do call fast so as another "yelper" advised don't buy too many cards. I'm not a novice but had some trouble keeping up on some games. We had fun though and when in the area will return.

There was a book gift exchange and I got to unwrap 2 new books! (nerd moment) The coordinator of the club is Alice an amazing real life character, Author and Editor. She was great and inviting. As well as the other folks. This club is open to the public. (No hecklers allowed) Meet up is last Friday of every month. I will try to put up a list of the books and Authors of our upcoming year as a picture if anyone is interested.

Or that the ref showed up 10 mins late and had to cut the game short due to darkness? Yeah, that happened too... My company and I will be taking our money elsewhere at the end of the season. For this reason, your 8-week season takes 16+ weeks to complete. There's no effort on management to schedule the games elsewhere. It's as if they don't care that they're losing bucket loads of money without a contingency plan. Invest in turf and turn your league into a legitimate business. Until then it will continue to be a glorified gym class.
