I taught at this school in 2023-2024 and it was perhaps my worst experience as a teacher of 30…read moreyears. My assistant and I both considered leaving in the middle of the year. We taught special education and we loved the students and we are devoted to the field of special education. What the district was doing with special education students seemed illegal. I could just move forward and say nothing since we escaped the corruption but it is worth mentioning and maybe the more people that complain the sooner changes will be made. First, there were some wonderful people that worked there and I want to be clear that it was a special education problem. There were teachers and staff we thought were nice and fair and effective. Much anger and unrest was felt and there was a team that was reporting to the new Super about all the injustice. I wrote to the Superintendent as requested by a staff member and a parent but no response was given by him. The glaring injustice was in the special education department. There was no SDC class at Prunedale, and RSP teachers were strapped with a disrespectful principal that seemed to have no interest in special education. I read through numerous IEPS and many of the students in RSP had come from an SDC class. The district was poor or spent money on the wrong things and special education was underfunded. SDC students belong in SDC classes and not thrown into RSP because they cannot afford an SDC class. We were told that they could not find teachers because it was too expensive to live in the area, however they treated the teachers they hired poorly and there was a huge turnover. One special education teacher I worked with quit by November due to a medical leave caused by stress. Sadly, the students are the ones that suffer in the end.

No doubt -private schooling is a good choice for children and families, but CHRISTIAN private…read moreschooling, in our opinion, is truly the best protection and investment you can give your child. With that being said, not all Christian private schools are created equally. Most can promise you small class sizes, music programs, and higher standardized testing scores, but something important to notice and consider is also the quality and character of the people your children spend the majority of their time with. Prunedale Christian Academy is a family. Not in the sense that everyone is blood related, but in the sense that both students and staff feel at home, noticed and appreciated like they belong. I was a student at PCA, and during my years there, I felt more connected by authentic relationships, than I have anywhere else in my school carrier. Years later, I'm a grown woman, married with children of my own, and we STILL come back to Prunedale, to PCA, every year for their Christmas program/family night. Every grade has a performance, there's food, craft venders, student performances, and a LIVE nativity scene that people tour, horse drawn! That's just one of many plays, music recitals, family events- moments you and your child will remember, as a result of hard work, and positive reinforcement/encouragement to pursue artistic interests. There's space and opportunity to try out and learn new things, become a musician, a Bible Quizzing Champion, worship team member, etc. There's more there than 4 standard subjects and Bible, the potential for students to grow well-rounded is there, and the staff's goal is to educate, inspire, support, and cheer your child on to success. I felt cheered on. The curriculum they use is KJV Bible based (Alpha & Omega,) and teaches not only God's Word but also all "general studies" comfortably in a way that still makes sense! Meaning, you won't need to google your 1st graders math homework, because everything "suddenly changed." Kids come out of this school ready for college academic courses, equipped with God's Word, and more than likely an artist in SOME way, too. We don't live in Monterey County anymore, but that hasn't stopped us from buying the curriculum for our son- it's dependable. Also, child care programs are available for working parents schedules, and the safety of the school's location you really can't top for the area. Wherever you decide to invest your child's time and academic carrier, be sure to take notice of the things I've pointed out.

Reached out to the "school" multiple times regarding my daughter attending, even emailed multiple…read moreschool email addresses and never heard back. After doing my own research and investigating via state and federal data bases,it's come to my attention that this "school" doesn't even have any type of accreditation. That was a deal breaker for me, that would completely ruin a child's ability to attend universities or even transfer to another school if we move. I do not understand why they wouldn't want to give a child of God every opportunity for success. Seems a bit un christian like to take people's money and not offer every avenue for success for their child. They do not mention anywhere that they are NOT accredited, shady!!. Your child is better off at a public school. My daughter is now enrolled at Notre Dame High School in Salinas.
