Great people and great service. The river is unbelievably beautiful and the fishing is awesome

The river was pretty and it was a fun day. However we felt it was overpriced for what we got and the service was absolutely terrible. We finished our float an hour and a half early, so we decided to swim for a bit before calling for a shuttle. Right when we started to get in to swim a shuttle driver came and asked us to get on. We said it's okay, we'll catch the next one because we just got done and wanted to swim since we got back so early and it was hot. 30 minutes later (still an hour before we were told we needed to be done) we all got out and called a shuttle. They wouldn't let us on the next shuttle because they were mad we didn't get on the last one, so they made us wait and every staff member was very rude to us. I guess they just wanted to be done earlier for the day and didn't like that we wanted to enjoy our time on the river that we paid for. read more

Despite the river being pretty it could not make up for the treatment we received from the staff. It for us was not worth ever returning especially considering we paid so much for this experience. At the end of our trip we wanted to stay and swim a bit because we finished an hour and half early, so we moved past the exiting area so as not to cause congestion when the other groups behind us would arrive and started to swim. A staff member who had just loaded up a different group that had arrived prior to us saw us docked and swimming on a bank a bit down from the exit. He walked down to us and told us that this was the end of the route. We politely explained that we knew, but that we had an hour and half left and just wanted to swim a bit before heading on our 2 hour trek home. He was obviously angry at this response but could not explain why he was angry. There is nothing that states that you can't stop and swim while on your route or at the end of your route, we weren't blocking anyone else from exiting, and he or another driver would still have to return to pick up the other remaining groups so we weren't inconveniencing anyone. We were truly confused at his apparent anger as he walked away. We had no clue what was going on or why he was angry that we wanted to enjoy the rest of the time we had paid for. After 45 minutes of swimming we then picked up all our boats and carried them to the parking lot so as not to inconvenience the staff. We then called the front desk to let them we had finished our route (as you are supposed to do) and they rudely told us a van was on its way. While we were waiting other groups began to arrive. When the van finally arrived we tried to load in and help the driver load our boats onto the rack. He pushed past us and said "nahhh yall didn't want to get out so you can wait" Apparently trying to punish us for.... swimming... on a route we paid to be at. It was clearly a weird power trip. We were shocked. We kept asking what we had done wrong or if we had broken a rule, but he had nothing to say and just continued to ignore us. He then walked around us and loaded the other 3 groups into the van REFUSING to let us on the van. We were stunned. We then called the front desk for a second time and were told another van was on its way. When that driver arrived we again tried to get some clarity on why were being treated so appallingly and why we weren't allowed to load in the previous van. Again the only response was "yall didn't want to get out" although why that was a problem or issue was never answered. I posted this review on google hoping that no one else will have to experience this kind of treatment and the owner responded saying that we weren't allowed on the van because the other groups called before us. I have no way of knowing if this is true because they could have called prior to arriving at the exit after us but it was NOT a reason that any of the drivers gave us for refusing to allow us to board the van. Had that been the case we would have been understanding but the reason we were given was because "yall didn't wanna get out so you can wait". It was made very obvious that they were trying to punish us despite not being able to give a valid reason as to why. In response to other negative reviews concerning pick up behavior by the staff, the owner told a reviewer that they have no way of knowing who arrives first at the pick up location. This person along with others were complaining about similar behavior by the staff. So I have no idea why the owner even tried to give this as an excuse as to why were treated so rudely by his staff when according to him this is something they are unable to decipher. The owner also tried to say that this incident started when we refused to get out of the water, which again was untrue and makes zero sense because we were never told to get out of the water so there was nothing for us to refuse. Politely declining someone's offer to load your boat is very different from someone telling or even asking you to get out of the water and you actually refuse to do so. The owner did however say he will speak to his drivers and hopefully this will not happen again. I remain skeptical but considering this behavior is clearly driving people away, hopefully he will take it seriously and address it. read more

They have a nice variety of canoes and kayaks, and will even transport yours if you bring one. The PFDs are hit or miss, but I never wear it on the water, so it isn't a big deal. In the past they have been difficult to contact -- which seems problematic for a place you can't exactly stop by to make a reservation -- but they appear to be getting better about that. I've dealt with the company under more than one owner and have never had a problem. There are a variety of trip lengths available, and my advice would be to go for the medium distances (7-9mi) and spend time swimming, picnicking, and enjoying yourself. The longer ones turn into less fun than originally conceived. As for the river, your experience will depend a lot on how high the water is. The extremes are interesting (as I've been there in very high and very low conditions) but, generally, it is a lazy river with enough flow to keep the water fairly fresh. A fair bit of shallow with occasional deep swim points and the rest rather unswimmable deep points (as they are in the channel). I would prefer a faster flow, and some low-level rapids for a leisurely day, but it's fine for what it is. read more

1st the guy who previously wrote the review doesn't speak for the mass crowd.you sound like you want insane rapids and if you do why didn't you call ahead and check what type of canoe trip they offer , like normal people do? You are the type of person I hate seeing review places. To sum it up, My wife and i did the 4.5 mile it took 4hrs. We stopped to eat lunch at a perfect little beach. They have I wanna say fiberglass canoes? All of which are in great shape. You start at the shop and end where they tell you(they gove you a map and explain it. ours was 1st bridge on left) then call to get picked up. Ben was super friendly and sooo helpful about nearby things to do distilleries nearby, hiking and camping! We went today and plan on goin back Friday! Compared to the river we canoes up north in Kentucky this river is beautiful and well maintained we saw no garbage the whole trip! It's great for beginners and def for people who just want to take in the amazing scenery. We saw turtles, Gar, and other cool animals on our trip. Very cool and totally give it 2 thumbs up! read more

Your drivers drive like they own the entire road. It's a two way in case they weren't aware. I'm tired of being run off the road. I'm going to call the county police every day if I have to. Please teach your drivers how to drive and make them aware it's a two way street. Thanks Chris read more
