It is a family owned business with a reputation for quality work and quality plants. Pitchford Design won out over several other bids for some special ground cover work for our church in Clearwater. I may eventually include some pictures, but this is not the best time for that right now. The project included the planting of several perenniel peanut plants, mimosa plants, and a couple of hibiscus shrubs pruned to look like trees. The plants were healthy and have taken hold well. Included in the work was poisoning the old turf and weeds, removing about 7 cubic yards of topsoil which included the weeds, and filling in around the plants with a good mulch. Zach and his crew were most helpful in getting that all done for us and bringing in a couple of extra plants when I observed that the original plan we had agreed on didn't quite cover all the open space in the way I subsequently thought it should. There was also some confusion on the specific type of hybiscus that the plan called for and again Zack took care of that for us. I complimented him on the professional quality of his communications and the clarity of his contract proposal. The fact that we were working with a church committee tended to complicate the communications more than would have been the case just dealing with a property owner or couple. We saved some money by composting the topsoil that was removed and were able to place the bins elsewhere on the property. Since then that proved to be a good idea because most of the resulting compost has been used to fill low places elsewhere on the property. We also found a new product that can be sprinkled on the ground around the plants before the mulch goes down. it is designed to discourage the weeds without killing the plants. This is still experimental so we have no opinion on this for now, but if Tx weeds grow as big and fast as our Florida weeds (especially during the summer months) it might prove a useful precaution that will allow the slower growing ground cover to become better established. Both Zack and his team were very pleasant to work with and I trust your experience will prove similar to ours.
