Was seeing Dr. Pantiel of Horizon Surgical, but when you're older and crippled enough to where you need ongoing expert help like I need, this "Doogie Houser"-type of "new" podiatrist, spent no more than 5 minutes quickly trimming my nails, DRY with no soaking. He didn't even hit each nail with a nail file, so I'd always get home, and each day I went to put on socks I'd curse them for doing such a lousy job because socks tend to hang up on things like sharp nail edges etc. I'd usually forget to ask the doc to finish the job right, so I'd wind up having to contort myself and try my best to use a nail file to do what Pantiel should've done in the first place! Worse, they charged about $40 bucks, and now don't even accept Medicare! In and out in less than 10 minutes total -- after receiving an overpriced, half-assed job. Dr. Schattschneider, is the extreme opposite. They place wet cotton on your toes for awhile, then when the doc comes back in, he takes however much is needed, for EACH toe. Once he's done, his wife comes in and uses an electric tool to basically sand and buff nails and corns until they're perfect, or as good as they can possibly be. You might be surprised to know they only accept checks or cash, but they'll submit everything to Medicare, and long before my next visit (I go every two months, which is what Medicare allows) I've received my Medicare reimbursement, less the usual 20%. Which is about a two-thirds better than Horizon, or less than one third the net cost of going there vs Dr. Schattschneider's office, all for an incredibly well done, professional job. Dr. Schattschneider and his wife, Susan, make you feel like family. My only (selfish) hope is that they stay in business longer than I'm alive! :-)

And hopeless. I saw a review on here that said they make you sign up with an evangelical Christian health care ministry. I haven't seen anything like that. We only had to sign an agreement that we understand the legal difference between this kind of treatment and medical treatment, no lawsuits, etc. He did mention a sharing ministry to me when I complained about the insurance we have, but that's all. After 8 months of recommended therapy, not only was my injury healed but also the reason i had originally come to Dr Gorla was no longer an issue - an unexpected benefit to the treatment my injury required... i had fully expected to still partake in tx here, to come back to continue what we had just started - but as it turned out the pain that had initially brought me here, no longer existed. When i asked for my money back (minus the cost of equipment i could have bought online for $1500, and $150 for the 3 PEMF treatments i had) - so i only asked for $4550 back, he refused - essentially implying now that the package price equaled the price of equipment..! Since i signed a (fairly vague!) contract, the judge at small claims court ruled that Dr Gorla not be required to reimburse me any $ inspite of the fact it turned out i did not need this therapy. i am writing this to warn others that not only was the PEMF tx useless and completely ineffective, but what kind of doctor needs to keep your thousands of your dollars if you no longer need there treatment..??? My procrastination of finding a doctor had to stop. My search began. I did a great deal of researching and I found doctor Dominique at Alpine's Chiropractic & Acupuncture medicine. Patients who do what they tell them to do, blow smoke up their butts to stroke their egos, and don't ask questions are SO much easier for them, so THOSE folks are welcome apparently. If you're stressed, have work to do/NEED your back straightened, or if you're frustrated w/the UNBELIEVABLE CLUSTER-@#$% that is the VA referral process, keep that to yourself at all costs-you would not want to stress any of the staff there w/your problems anyway, right?? I really have to emphasize that (from my conversation w her) Lily impressed me as an insincere, condescending and self-important person who was full of her own power. I gleaned that when she told me she was the one who ran the place, and that others were kind of afraid of her (or something to that effect), which she said "jokingly" but apparently there's truth to it. My conversation w her (about two msgs I sent them that they never responded to, concerning back X-rays and problems filling out the Patient History etc forms they sent me-which they apparently did not receive, though my phone never told me my msgs were Not Delivered) left a very bad impression of her, but I bit my tongue bc I was trying to remain positive as I had an appt scheduled in a few days (and I'm a pretty nice guy in general, when people are straight with me). In short (though it's a little late for that, lol) I believe that Lily, who I did not like due to her overbearing, condescending attitude, complained to "Dr Dom" about me (bc I was holding them accountable and have standards), and due to that he "found" a reason to deny my referral and cancel my appointment, when they could have found SOME modality of treatment that would have helped me if they wanted to... inclu the *advertised* Decompression Table. Actually they found several reasons for denying care. When I took away their first excuse (foraminal stenosis) by agreeing to skip neck adjustments and just get a back adjustment, Dr Dom fell back on "the referral doesn't specify 'back' ". When I took away that excuse by offering to skip the referral and pay cash myself to get my back adjusted, he pivoted to his next excuse... "knowing about the referral, we probably shouldn't"--whatever the hell that means. Clearly he was bailing, I believe based on LILY because I had only positive and respectful interactions with Leah-in fact I thanked her and complemented her on how gentle, caring, and patient she was-bc I know I ask a lot of questions, and I appreciated her. Leah's friendly and caring demeanor is in STARK contrast to what I experienced from Lily, which I guess is why they don't have Lily answering the phone and talking to customers directly (unless absolutely necessary). I can't "prove" what was said behind the scenes, and I could be mistaken, but I ain't stupid, and at 64 I have a pretty good grasp on the games people play... and MOST chiropractors actually SEEK customers/income and want to help people... so I think there's more to the story than just 'concerns about my neck X-rays'. I realize the fact that I "talk too much" bc I'm highly intelligent (just saying), ask "too many questions", and keep people on their toes when they try to BS me and things don't add up is a threat to some people, so some businesses (and "doctors") don't like that. If you're willing to do what you're told, STFU when something doesn't seem right to you (or you feel blown off bc they're busy w the other 60-80 people that day), and if you do not ask difficult medical/health questions or dare to disagree w/them about anything in any way, they might be "willing" to work with you. I actually asked "Dr Dom" about whether my talking a lot, being a detail person (w/some anxiety) and asking lots of questions was a factor in his refusal to honor my referral, and he said, "Not at all... we deal with people like that all the time." Given all the data (incl his not being 'willing' to adjust my BACK even if I paid them CASH--completely unrelated to the referral), my conclusion is Lily's ego was "offended" that I stood up to her, and did not kiss her @ss as she's used to, so she said something that caused my appointment to be cancelled before I ever received a treatment from them. It actually makes sense if we accept at face value Lily's belief that she runs the place. After all if she's truly the Boss B there as she thinks she is, it's not surprising the "owner" would comply w/her orders. I had no interaction at all with the other chiropractor there, who sounds like a nice guy, so I have nothing bad to say about him... but based on my experience it appears Lily needs to get over herself. I would have respected 'Dom' more if he was straight w me, not hiding behind excuses.
