Lakeshore Bone & Joint prioritizes profit over patient care. The prior authorization staff failed…read moreto submit a second authorization request for an MRI (insurance denied the first one because I had not done physical therapy, and the doctor submitted a new authorization request afterwards), called the day before the procedure, told me insurance denied it, and said I would need to either self-pay or reschedule. I called my insurance, and they told me the second authorization request was never submitted. Bet! The doctor's assistant went to bat for me, and once the paperwork was submitted it was approved. Meanwhile, the prior authorization manager LIED and said she personally asked the doctor to do a peer review with insurance and hit it approved for me. The doctor and the insurance company both said that didn't happen, and peer reviews only occur if they are appealing a denial, Their intake paperwork states that patients are responsible for obtaining all prior authorizations, never mind that we lack the resources to submit paperwork to do so, the chief operating officer dismissively told me it doesn't really mean that, but apparently it does. Patient beware!

I've been to Dr. O before and feel he's a very good doctor, so this isn't pertaining to him specifically. When you first get there and fill out papers, you have to give a cc # for them to keep on file, which I don't agree with, but I understand and signed because my whole family has always gone to Dr. O. That being said, you would and should have a statement in paper and email form from every office showing exactly what's been done and when. I accepted an appointment with a different doctor in the office to be seen sooner and felt they were just ok. I didn't particularly feel heard (we obviously know our bodies better than anyone else,) had a biopsy taken, but was still giving them the benefit of the doubt until the next appt. I was to come back to get the stitches removed/follow-up. They weren't sure if they agreed with the diagnosis given but it's not something you can just get a test for and it comes back with a pos/neg, so I knew that much. I had something else I wanted to address as it was something that I'd never dealt with before and they just barely wrote it off as not a big deal and not in agreement with anything I had mentioned, so I definitely felt more frustrated but they were going on vacation and I was going to be called and given the results and could go from there. I got one call from a nurse I guess and she couldn't explain much of anything. I called back asking for more details, nothing. I messaged the office, nothing. I was charged a few very large amounts and have no idea what they even mean. I messaged them about the charges and how random amounts could be taken at any given time, which does not seem right, no response. No statement came in any form ever and I still have absolutely no idea what came out of that appointment. I've never been to an office where they take money out of your account without warning and no response.
