Lets be honest. All gate and garage door repair services are a scam to the non-business, residential owner. I have been quoted anywhere from $200 - $4,500 (complete replacement) for a repair that only needed a limit adjustment. I ended up going with these guys who were probably the most honest and considered the lesser scam. All they had to do was adjust the limiter, and then they did some general maintence and decided to replace an old switch as well. Less than an hour of work to someone with a lot of experience with these. $240. read more

Both times they were always professional and prompt in providing service. The service technicians are knowledgeable and provide a courtesy call when they are 30 minutes away from your residence. Stay away. They mark up parts 400%. A $60 part charged me $285.00. They told me the price after the part was in. I went online and I could buy the part for $92 so I assuming that the part cost Elite, maybe $60 or less. What a hose job. I did not realize how much I was taken until I looked up the part online. The repair took less than 30 minutes and the labor charge was $125.00. It was a microphone board which started giving feedback after we switched from ATT to Spectrum. Instead of trying to reduce the volume on the existing Microphone to see if he could get the feedback under control, he just replaced the Mic board. When the new mic board was installed there was the same feedback noise. For the new board he lowered the volume and the feedback went away. The service person should have tried to reduce the volume on the existing board to see if the feedback went away. Why not try to adjust the volume to see if it would resolve the problem? Then I could make up my own mind whether I wanted the new board or just keep the old one. For another $900 I could have purchased a brand new system. Typical LA high priced services but the part markup is really a scam. Why don't these companies charge a reasonable mark up and not screw the customer??? Do they really think that I will ever do business with them again??? Crazy business strategy. Again. Stay away........................ Price markup on parts is a rip off. read more

After being called a liar by the General Manager he informed me that the issue was resolved via Yelp. REALLY!! Because I wrote a review they decided to not do a thing. What a racket! This company told us $45 for a service call plus $50 per 1/2 hour for repairs. The technician arrived and I told him we needed a new panel only. The tech proceeded to disassemble the motor which was totally unrelated to the problem then do a bunch of unnecessary measurements before telling me he couldn't get the part needed. Then asked for $145. I told him to forget it and he started swearing etc. don't trust these people!! read more

The technician came out and fixed the door in less than an hour and charged me $500!! The intercom only worked for a week. Run away from this company as fast as you can!!! Elite charged me over $600 for parts and labor even though their technician Daniel could NOT fix the chirping sounds coming from my gate control box, and then they had the nerve to quote me a completely new gate system for an additional $9K when my existing system worked great aside from the chirping. To add insult to injury, it turned out later to be a simple fix that only required a regular wrench and about 15 minutes of time from an honest technician! To think that Elite tried to sell me a brand new $9K system when the problem could've been solved in just minutes with a wrench is completely unprofessional and shows their lack of knowledge/experience and unwillingness to provide customers with honest, high-quality service. I was initially pleased with how quickly Elite was able to send a technician to my home (same day, within a couple hours of my call). The trouble began when the technician Daniel was unable to diagnose the issue I was having with my DoorKing gate (the control box was chirping every few minutes). He charged me $328 to replace 2 big batteries in my control box that he thought was the cause of the chirping. When that didn't fix the problem, he spent the next hour talking by phone with DoorKing tech support but was still unable to figure out the cause of the problem. After the call, he charged me his $165 trip charge, the $328 cost of the 2 expensive batteries that didn't fix the problem, and 90 minutes of "labor" for $180 that also didn't get me any further towards resolving the chirping problem because I too had called DoorKing a couple of days earlier and gotten the same advice that he got. In addition, Daniel left me with 2 unhelpful options: 1) an open-ended quote including another trip charge and their labor to send the actuator arm from my gate to DoorKing for diagnostic testing without any guarantee that it was causing the chirping, or that DoorKing could fix the problem, or any estimate for how much it would potentially cost me, and 2) a quote for completely replacing my existing gate system (everything still worked great except for the chirping) with a brand new LiftMaster system for $9000. To make matters worse, I realized after Daniel left that the gate was no longer operating properly (it remained open and wouldn't close after we drove through the gate). Upon closer inspection, I also found that he hadn't put my gate back together properly - screws were missing and the cover to the actuator arm was loose and not installed. I called to complain to the service manager Austin who came out to fix these new problems for me but he refused to help me with any further diagnosing of the chirping problem even though Daniel's visit had been useless and I'd been charged for batteries that I hadn't actually needed. Thank goodness I was able to find an honest technician to help me fix the issues that Elite was completely unable and unwilling to resolve for me. read more

Please believe the many one-star reviews and stay away from these scam artists at all costs. I purchased a house with a Doorking intercom that was not working and made the huge mistake of hiring Elite to repair it. They sent a technician out who spent an hour and a half looking at the unit and ended up saying he couldn't fix it. For this I was charged $311. I asked for a quote for a replacement unit with credit for the "labor" I had already paid for, and after much follow up eventually received a quote that was hugely inflated (both for parts and labor). My repeated requests for clarification or adjustment were met with combative and completely unprofessional responses, insisting for example that I had asked for additional parts that I couldn't have asked for because I don't even know what they are. I intend to follow up with the Better Business Bureau and, if Elite will not refund the $311 I paid them for absolutely nothing, pursue them in small claims court. I'll give my job to a reputable hard-working business that doesn't try to rip off its customers (as these reviews show, I'm unfortunately not the first). read more
