When I walked in, everyone was standing around in the lobby because they didn't let people into the auditorium until exactly 11:30am. (The time I thought the service STARTED) When I entered the auditorium and sat down, an usher approached me and told me I needed to move. I told her it was my first time and I wasn't comfortable sitting in the front row. She called a man over and asked him to move me to my seat. He moved me into the front row in the last seat to the right of the stage facing the wall. I was very uncomfortable trying a new church alone and they were not welcoming. Will not return. read more

Probably one of the worst group of people that do not know how to communicate. A year ago I asked if they could get a sign language interpreter for my wife for a one time visit. Their response was you can bring your own, well is that the most ignorant response? Like I carry one in my pocket. Then I asked if they could ask the congregation if someone could or would. Their response was a big fat NO. Talk about blatant discrimination. Then 2 weeks ago I decided to ask again and all they could do is forward the email and I guess they either don't know how to read or know how to respond back to an email. That or they don't want a deaf person at their place. Steer clear because we travel all over and this is the only "church" that refused to even try out of the hundreds I have contacted. Steven needs a lesson on management because this place is lacking severely. Find a church that welcomes all not one that only wants people that fits into their small minded cult like circle. read more

My first time at this church, great and nice people , they had a great service and nice speaker , had bounce houses for kids after the service and served dinner , I wish they did leave people alone regarding the seating situation ......horrible sitting enforcement , they literally make you sit where ever they want you to sit , the first time I have seen any thing like this , they put black curtains around the church so that you sit one by one , you have no option of sitting in the back or front ! They open up the curtains as if more people show up , they want their church too look "FULL", hmmmmm ... not very comfortable ! We are here to pray and get connected to Jesus and Holy Spirit but they treat you like the first graders in elementary school!!! My wife and daughter were kicked out of the service and shunned to some side room. KICKED OUT OF CHURCH?!?!?! What could they have done so bad to get kicked out of church? Our nearly 3 year old stays with us during services and has learned to do very well with it (complimented at many other churches we've visited). Upon entering the service, they were met with an attitude about bringing a child in and then were put in the far corner. Then they hovered close by. After not making a peep, during one of the few quieter points my daughter quietly said 3 words to my wife. Instantly, someone was there with a flashlight gathering my wife and daughters' things and told them they needed to leave the service. Not crying, not a tantrum, not being disruptive, just three quiet words. I know this church has reached a lot of people, but I cannot believe they sent my wife home crying. I am thankful this hasn't hurt her faith but I could certainly see it hurting someone else who is in the early seeking stage of Christianity. They should be ashamed of their actions. People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. -- Mark 10:13-16 read more

It's interesting to see I'm not the only one with issues with this church. My second time attending the church (pineville mathews location) was mothers day. I wanted to continue to feel the church out before leaving my 8 month old in their care. During the sermon my son says da da and I was asked to go to the overflow room because he was being disruptive. After speaking to the head volunteer and him insisting my son was disruptive I decided to leave and never go back. This church has strange rules. They want u to leave ur child with the daycare or u have to sit in the overflow room. AND when you the sermon starts you cannot leave for a bathroom break or even check on your child and return to the sanctuary. I went out during my first visit and they almost didn't let me back in!! It's something strange about this church. They say they are family friendly but that's not the case. If you go with a young child just know putting your child in their care is a requirement if you want to worship there, not an option. read more

Music is super good. With that being said: They only hire really good looking people apparently (for marketing purposes) Theses guys are geniuses at making money. It seems very much like a toxic atmosphere. Take away the professional performers, fog machines, the disco lights, and the secular club music (they're the type of church that tries to put a christian twist on most songs on the radio) and its just a projection of a sermon (literally, they don't actually have a live preacher at this campus).. Theres a countdown outside of the doors and they are locked until service begins. When the countdown ends the doors unlock and open mechanically, and you're greeted with a heavy cloud of fog and strobe lights.. Then you're shepherded in like a gang of cattle. It just feels very insincere and a little comical at how rowdy its members are about the head pastor. I'm not saying it a cult, but.... Its just not for us. read more

I have never been to this church. I have been tithing to them, though. Not long. Just when COVID started because I had no physical Church to attend. I love Pastor Steven Furtick's preaching. He grabs my attention and keeps me interested in the word. Sadly, I have been out of a job and no income. I reached out to them for financial help, via email, phone calls and even social media...over the past month. No one has returned a phone call, an email or responded to a comment or responded to a DM on social media. It's sad that they couldn't offer any help. Let alone just make a phone call to say they don't help. Bounced my rent check. Trying to figure out how to provide for my kids and get my bills paid. Even left them a voicemail, in tears, saying it's a wonder why people lose faith. Although, it's not faith it is flesh that fails us. A church, at this magnitude, should have someone who responds to these things. They say they do, but nobody has called me back. You better believe they did send a thank you when I started tithing to them. Other than that, I'm just another person they collect money from. I had to stop tithing to them because I literally have no money coming in. And stressed about what will happen to my kids and myself. Actively looking for a job but it's a waiting game. read more

I do not live in Charlotte but I visit there quite regularly and when I do I attend Elevation Matthews. I have always found the volunteers to be phenomenal, friendly, engaging and helpful. The bible teaching is some of the best out there today and there are a lot of good teachers and pastors today. The same with worship! It gets you going and excited about Jesus and being in church. The children's ministry is also top-notch, teaching the kids about the love of Jesus and genuinely loving your kids. eKids is so engaging and fun that the kids can't seem to wait to go in and then don't want to leave. Elevation believes in serving and giving back to the community at a level you rarely see. They have activities always going on. For a large church it does a great job with the family feeling. Elevation church does not want first timers to leave without being connected with someone and helps the Members plug into eGroups. Like any church they have values and guidelines that work for their church and church family. It may not be for everyone. Its Big, its loud, it might seem to have some unconventional wAys. But, it is rock solid in the Word of God and the love of Jesus and people. Regularly leading people to Jesus, helping them grow deeper in relationship and transforming lives and families. Its one of the fastest growing churches in the world for a reason. For good reason. They even do church amazingly well online and at a distance for those who do not live near one of their campuses. While I have my own long time church at home I still participate at Elevation online most weekends. And I will say this, its not a cult! read more

Good for those who hate the idea of going to church on a Sunday morning but love the thought of going to a concert. As an avid Christian my entire life and a member of Chesapeake Church in Maryland, I recently attended elevation church. In fact, I was invited by my Niece, a student at Queens. Wow-wow-wow! Such a diverse church family, young, old, and entire families. I now know why my instinct told me I just had to go to this church Sunday. I've never ever felt the Holy Spirit touch my soul like this before. Pastor Furticks messages are powerful and biblical. His sermon Hidden Issues was off the chart so to speak. I've never like pastors that raise their voices during the sermon but whatever gets the message through now works for me! All my hurts and losses (loss of my child and husband) were healed. Every pain in my soul vanished. And the music was amazing - and why not! I'll bet the melodies in Heaven are out of this world. As Christians we deserve a great church service!! I cannot wait to go back and am enjoying the past sermons on podcasts. Thank you Pastor Furtick and all the wonderful people at Elevation Church. read more
