I've been getting a massage at Gentlemen's Cut for over 4 years now, the last 3 or so with…read moreAlyssa...and I could not be happier, even being 4 years in. The wait is always minimal, the waiting area is comfortable, and the staff is always friendly. Even though COVID-19 has changed everything, they do an excellent of following COVID-19 practices and precautions. Alyssa is an amazing massage therapist. When I show up for an appointment she takes the time to talk to me to see if there is anything she needs to focus on and gives me a few minutes to get ready. My 90 minute massage is just about my favorite 90 minutes of the month. Alyssa knows my trouble spots and takes the time needed to do things like work out my left shoulder knot, and knows that magic spot to put me to sleep (my feet). The appointment usually starts with some conversation and catching up, but it doesn't take long for me to doze off. That's when she really works he magic. My most recent visit set a new record, and I think I was out in a bout 10 minutes. At the end of each appointment I always leave in better shape than when I got there, and completely relaxed. That's a testament to Alyssa's skill as a massage therapist. I've been going here for over 4 years...and as long as Alyssa is there's this will be my spot.

I'm really picky about my haircuts...I need to look sharp and professional Monday through Friday…read moreand I want to look good for my wife. I've tried a lot of barber shops, salons, etc. around town trying to find the right place where after I go for a while, they know me, how I like my hair cut, and can just sit down to relax while they cut my hair. I've finally found that here at Derby City...and knew it when I came home the first time I got a cut there and my wife said, "That's the best haircut you've had in a LONG time...you look sharp." I love the fusion of old barber shop, hip and new, and the old school references in the decor around the shop. It's comfortable and inviting...a man's man place to get a great haircut! I should have know there was something special about this place my first time here when I arrived about 15 minutes before they opened and there was already a line of guys 8 deep waiting at the door. My ONLY complaint would be...I wish you could call ahead or log in online to either schedule an appointment or place yourself in line. Overall, if you need to look sharp for any occasion...stop in, it's worth the wait!

Bad review for Nick at Derby City Chop Shop:…read more I've been going to Derby City Chop Shop for a while and usually work with Patrik, who has always been great. Today I called because the online booking system was not working for me, and I was trying to make an appointment. Nick answered the phone and immediately acted annoyed that I even called. Instead of helping, he told me my phone was "the only phone in the world" not working and basically blamed me for the issue. When I asked if there was another way to schedule an appointment, he cut me off and said, "Listen buddy, I don't have time for this right now. Can you come in in 15 minutes or not?" The entire conversation was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional from start to finish. I even had to ask multiple times just to get his name because he refused to give it at first. I can honestly say after that interaction, I would never let Nick anywhere near my hair with a pair of scissors. Customer service like that is unacceptable, especially for someone representing a business people are supposed to feel comfortable walking into.

Great haircuts but not flexible for returning clients…read more I've been going here for about a year now without issue. I try to be generous to anyone who provides a service for me because I value l the relationship and flexibility it often provides. That being said, my haircuts come in at $20 a cut. Each time I bring $40 so essentially tipping 100%. Today, after a year of coming here and tipping 80-120% each time, I was unable to make it in as something came up at work. I promptly rescheduled within an hour of the appointment. I get it, that's a spot, that's income, etc.. In lieu of this, I was sent an $11 charge for cancellation. I totally understand this from a business perspective but I've came here for 12 months (1/month) so my total bill would come to $240 annually but I've paid $480 including tips. I guess I figured a recurring good customer was worth more than a $11 fee. If you want a solid haircut, this is a great place. Personally, it's the best haircut I've ever had but, unfortunately will have to find someone else.
