My mom has been a resident for over a year till she transitioned. For the most part the staff was very attentive and well meaning considering their work load and amount of care their residences required. The facility was always kept very clean and they changed the bedding often and provided cleaning services for my moms clothes. So appreciated their care in taking extra steps to make sure my mom was well dressed, bathed and groomed. These extra steps helped mom greatly in making her feel better at the same time facing loss of physical strength. What I want to acknowledge the most was the amazing support they gave the family during the final weeks. They kept us informed of her progress, coordinated with Hospice and took what ever steps possible to keep her comfortable and feeling safe. Did not discharge my father after insurance refused to pay. Even so I told them that private pay is out of question. Didn't request signatures for private pay either- they knew we would not sign. Sent us a bill for thousands of $$ and filed a lawsuit. He kept asking the doctor when he is going to be discharged, and was told not to worry about it. Had to settle with them to avoid dragging my 90 year old father through court - i guess this is what they counted on. Never had this experience with any other facility , so be careful!!! read more

The WORST of the WORST. Zero stars. Please please don't put yourselves and your loved ones through this absolute hell hole. The staff, especially administrators, are nothing short of horrific. Rude, defensive and completely unwilling to receive any feedback. Nothing gets done, the quality of care is terrible, and they refuse to take any accountability. Please Beware: Abington is a horrible place to bring your loved one. If I could leave a zero star review, I would. The administration Will apparently move patients if you complain to corporate. It appears the Administrator and the Director of Guest Relations are both unprofessional & work in tandem to retaliate for making complaints. When you ask questions to the Director of Guest Relations he says I don't know, I'm new. If your new, perhaps don't spend most of your time while your working smoking outside in the parking lot. This facility smells like urine, has filthy smelly Carpeting, and they apparently dont care for their patients. They basically close down with staff and PT for the weekend. Don't let the pictures fool you, sure they have a bright and remodeled lobby but once you get off the elevator it smells horribly of urine and it is dirty. I moved my loved one out when I seen all the issues and the obvious retaliation they attempted to do with my father for making complaints with corporate on their employees, their administrator and total lack of care in Abington. Abington is apparently understaffed & has employees that are not properly trained. They basically shut down for the weekend as far as staff and the rehabilitation. We wasted 3 days for the start of his rehabilitation. If I was advised that no rehabilitation would begin until 3 days after his arrival, I would have never chosen this facility. This place is frankly horrific. My mother stayed here, in the "memory care" unit. First off, they are no longer licensed to do memory care, which is a major red flag right off the bat. Second off all the CNAs are are very overwhelmed by patients and cannot provide care to all of them. They're severely understaffed and everyone who works here ends up quitting after a month; and for good reason. This place is like a horror house. It absolutely reeks at all times. I visited my mom roughly once a week and every single time the smell was almost unbearable. There is always at least one patient complaining about not being fed, put to sleep or yelling for an hour about needing help without receiving feedback from the CNAS. One of said CNAs is constantly on his phone. My mother passed a month ago and this place certainly aided in the slow degradation of her brain. Don't put your loved ones here. read more

Went to visit a family member and it lioks really nice in the atrium as you enter but when u get upstairs .. It's just like another home for the elderly.... The hallways smell and need to be cleaned more deeply!!!rooms and people need to be bathed more....Taking in thousands of dollar weekly, They can do better!!! Slow response to residents and patients.... Waited 12-15 mins for someone to come help after hitting call button...6 people in middle hall with numerous request lights going off... My mother was admitted to Abington in July of 2022 after a stroke and needed rehab. We admitted my mom here because of Abingtons stellar reputation. Come to find out ELEVATE had taken over. The quality of care was abysmal. They lost many employees, cut pay, and amenities. My mom had to wait over an hour to be taken to the bathroom, Her medications were not being distributed properly. We ended up hiring 24 hour caregivers to make sure she was taken care of. There were 2 CNA'S and 1 nurse per floor. They have trouble finding employees so they hire from outside agencies. Also, if your loved one is here, check their Medicare. My mom was given one week to get out or move to the third floor at an OUTRAGEOUS cost. Luckily we got my mom out of this hell hole. read more

My mom was here for the last week of her life. It haunts me to think this is where she spent her final days. As many caring staff members as I encountered, I have as many stories of careless, insensitive moments and casual indifference. No one bringing her and her roommate dinner one night. I had to push to get them both food as the CNA said their tickets were not on her cart to deliver. Seriously? The morning she was rushed to the ER, the nurse that called me said that my mom was needing oxygen and had mottled skin. "Usually a sign they are on their way out," said she. Again, seriously? These are the words you chose to use with me in my most gut wrenching life moment? Unacceptable! After my mom passed, I called to ask if someone could bring her personal effects down from her room so I wouldn't have to go back up and see her empty bed. I was put on hold and no one ever returned to the call. When I got there, they told me to go to the room and get her things. Not one person ever expressed sympathy to me about her passing. Again, fake it even if you don't mean it! I know you are all overworked. So am I in my career. Do better, be kinder! These are patients to you, but to families these are their dearest loved ones! read more

To the people potentially looking to send their loved ones here and to have them well taken care of, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. The facilities are rundown and not modern like the photos on the website, I have no idea how it's legal to misrepresent a facility so egregiously. My relative repeatedly fell and wasn't attended to well while at The Abington. The food was inedible. Again, I highly suggest you do not give your money to this facility. read more

I am a 21 year old female who stayed at the abington of glenview. After breaking my legs in a car accident, I was hospitalized and underwent several surgeries. Once I was stable and strong enough, it was time to find a place that could take care of me while I still couldn't walk and help me recover. This place accepted me, I am not going to sugar coat it, it was rough moving from the hospital to a nursing home especially the first weeks. I've stayed here for about a month and a half, and I've had a lot of ups and downs. At first, before I could bear weight on my legs, I needed to use a bedpan to do my business. If you are on a bedpan and can't use the toilet, this place kinda sucks, and I'll explain why. It's clear to me that this place has a staffing issue, that being said the CNAs are busy. They run around helping everyone and sometimes you can be left on a bedpan, or left waiting for a bedpan for up to 45 min. Several times that has happened to me. I had the numbers of my doctor, and the owners, so when this would happen I could text them to tell them I needed help. Or sometimes I would resort to calling the front desk, who could transfer me to the nurses station and I could ask them to please come and help me. Once I could get up and walk to the bathroom, things improved. The more independent you are, the better your stay will be. You will like this place less if you need more assistance. If they had more staff things would work a lot smoother. I will say when the CNAs are with you, they are all kind and helpful. I'm fortunate to be as young as I am and to be able to advocate for myself when I need something. The staff here definitely worked hard to make me comfortable. The food here is pretty bad, but the more I complained it seemed to get better. I'd suggest bringing seasonings to make the good taste better. There was a few occasions where a staff member here named Ivan would buy me food from outside when I couldn't stand the food I was being given, he listened to my complaints and helped relay them to the kitchen. Ivan has done a lot to help me here, he bought me a fan when I complained of being too warm, he even paid for a haircut for me downstairs in the salon, which is only open on thursdays. The facility is clean, and has its perks. One of the best parts about this place, the reason I'm rating 3 stars, is the physical therapy aspect. All of the Physical Therapists are a pleasure to work with, they help keep you motivated and they push you to succeed. The three who stand out to me the most are Mira, Lisa, and Tino. All of which helped me along this journey and got me back on my feet. I would recommend staying here if you are rehabbing from an injury, because they are the best. Dona is also amazing, she is one of the owners, she would always help me when i needed it. I may edit this later to add on but overall this place is nice, the pictures online do make it look prettier than it is but it is going through construction currently to make it nicer. read more

It's a fine looking center for elderly rehab. It looks clean and the staff are pretty quick to respond. It's not posh i.e. it could use an updated look, but it seems to be fine for a short stay. The food's so so. You must have money to stay here. My aunt qualified for 21 days of Medicare for her stay. At 10 days the administrators began to try to move her to the floor where the patient pays 100% and is residential. Once they learned that my aunt didn't have $10,000/month to stay, they told my relatives she had to move. They're all about CASH. read more

I recently had my aunt stay here for short term rehab. My family and I visited many nursing and rehab centers around the area and we are so happy we chose the Abington for my aunt. This is a well kept clean up to date facility. The staff was very welcoming and responded quickly to any questions my family had. Therapy and nursing were excellent! I would highly recommend this facility to any elderly seeking nursing care or rehab. read more

The staff are for the most part caring and therapists seem to do s pretty good job. However the food is HORRENDOUS!!! They offer a substitute menu but that too is horrible. I have heard from many different guests the same thing. Elevator has been down for 2 weeks and air conditioning is broken in the room and I requested service several times with no response. read more

I really can't say enough about the care my father-in-law received by the entire staff. He was admitted on Christmas day. Everyone was so caring and made both my father-in-law, and the many of us in our family that visited him daily. Though he was at the Abington only 4 weeks before his death (a good, long life at 91), the nurses, administrators and staff were caring and very kind. My father stayed there for a month of rehab. There was good and bad. The good: Clean and no bad smell, much of staff is friendly and helpful, the food was fine, the rehab staff was good and he definitely made progress while he was there. The bad: They only give showers / bath twice a week and if you don't speak up you may not even get that. After he was there a week I realized that they weren't brushing his teeth so I ended up doing it myself to make sure it was done. They left him in the same clothes for 2 days a couple of times. read more

Glorified nursing home. If physical therapy is ordered, that's all the patient gets. Otherwise, sits alone in a wheelchair parked in front of the TV all day long. They put into bed by 7:00pm, so they can say they're done with the patient for the day. Lowest of stimulation, hygiene is AM sink rinse-off only. My parent had not been fully bathed or showered in the two weeks of the stay. No physical therapy given on day of discharge; patient simply parked in front of the TV for room clean-up. Oxygen put on, even if not needed, so staff needn't check on patient. When asked medical questions, staff unable to answer. I suggest frequent visits so you can be patient advocate and check on level of care! read more

While visiting my friend's mother during her stay at the Abington, I was very impressed by the beautiful decor, friendly and competent staff, cleanliness of the facility, and the delicious meals that the residents were served. BUYER BEWARE. Unethical billing practices. Do not give your credit card up front like I did. Overbilled for 5 days with zero explanation, Your card gets billed. Detailed invoice? Nada. All you get is a credit card receipt for an amount. Well, upon check in, the rates , days and my responsibility were gone over in detail. For 2 months I called and called and called and emailed and emailed and emailed. Assistant Director, Mr. Joseph Tsadok agreed with my findings and promised a $425 refund. It took 2 months to finally get only a $400 refund on a check that misspelled my name and had the wrong address(kudos to the USPS for finding me). Mr. Tsadok seemed rather confused by the whole issue and promised to get me the remaining $25. That was another 2 months ago. I am giving this business 2 stars based on the facility, rehab and food. The staff did their job. No complaints about them. Management , on the other hand, seems to feel that they are always correct. I know its only $25 at this point but it is the principle. We had a detailed discussion where Mr Tsadok agreed that I was owed $425. Not $400. Don"t turn your back on these people. read more
