I will be one year sober next month thanks to the amazing experience I had at Elevate. A lot of great people there, and a lot of great memories were made. I really thought the curriculum was well structured, and the care provided by the facilitators and my counselor were top notch. The grounds were peaceful and beautiful, and the lodging was accommodating. I felt comfortable with everyone involved, and found it easy to talk to each person I dealt with. I cannot express how grateful I am for my experience with this program. I'm a sober and truly happy person now, something I wasn't sure was possible before. And my family is extremely grateful as well. They got meet me, a whole new and better person, after being away for 72 days. So worth it.

Don't go here!!! The intake director, Mike DiPalma, will lie to you and say whatever you want to hear to get your foot in the door. I told him I had a previous bad experience at a detox center and asked if men and women were housed together. He said no they weren't, told me we would all get to leave the facility twice a week to go to Target, that there were medical staff on site 24/7, and that I would be allowed to check my cell phone for an hour a day every 2-3 days since I am self employed and have a special needs child who I was trying to get into a program. I spoke to him twice before arriving and he made it sound like he would be there. When I arrived I was told Mike lives in another state. My first red flag. Everything upon intake was like a military operation, it felt very weird. Firstly, they do everything they can to hide that you will first be taken from the main building up to an isolated little cabin (it is mentioned on their website, but it is buried way down in one short sentence and is easy to miss) where men and women ARE housed together with only ONE staff member there from 10pm-7am. Imagine how safe I felt in a cabin in the woods, far from society, locked up with scary people (see below) and one tiny little woman there as staff all night! There is no doctor on site, I saw him once on Zoom for ten minutes. There is a nurse who will visit the cabin a couple of times a day but leaves at 9pm. So if you need any medication during your detox between 9pm-9am, you're shit outta luck. I felt like I was in a horror movie, a la The Cabin In The Woods. During this time you are in what they call "blackout", not allowed ANY access to the outside world, not allowed to speak with any family. You can't even see the news, they have a few dvd's that are all nature/documentary stuff but by day 2 you've seen everything they've got. I'm a female rape victim, and we had men coming into stay at the cabin in the bedroom next door to mine who had come straight from prison. I heard one bragging about rapes he had committed, while another one became violent with the staff on his first night over them wanting him to take a urine test. His (male) room mate was scared to sleep in the same room with him that night, so you can imagine how I felt being right next door! The staff is all ex-addicts who have recently completed the program and have the bare minimum of training to be a "detox technician". I heard one of them say if you graduate you are basically guaranteed a job. Basically the detox cabin, where people are the most vulnerable, is where they put the most recent grads. The whole thing felt weird and cult-y and I later learned that Elevate is a front for Scientology, and had had six or seven different names since they started. It all makes sense now... They thought that putting an opiate addict on Subutex and weaning them off in 5-10 days would work. That is NOT how Subutex works!!! Several people were weaned off too quickly and became very sick once they left detox, I was told. The staff is a mixed bag, a couple of them were amazing and I'll never forget them. However, most of them were lacking in compassion, seemed very young with no life experience, and/or extremely inappropriate. One of them liked to tell us how he was once a famous rap star with bodyguards (yeah right... he has one shitty song on Apple Music), all he did was dick around loudly and play favorites with some of the patients. He also walked in on me in the bathroom without even knocking, opening the door so that the whole room could see me in there with my pants down. (No locks on bedroom or bathroom doors, which makes bathing quite scary in that situation....) I was told after 7 days that I would be allowed to call my family, so I toughed it out to get to that magical 7th day. But when I got there I was then told that since I hadn't yet weaned off of my medications, I wouldn't be allowed to talk to them until I did, plus after three more days of observation. So I was looking at 2 plus weeks without any contact with my family, which is NOT what I had been told repeatedly. Also, when I asked about getting to use my phone as Mike had promised, I was told no one gets that. By then I was ready to "elevate" my ass right out of there. It took an entire day of arguing with the staff to get them to release me, I started around 1:00pm and around 10:00pm, when I began to use the words "legal rights" and "my attorney", they released me. And during the whole day they continued to lie, first saying no one can be released after 2:00pm, then saying no one was around to open the safe and release my property to me. Magically, both of those things happened! Oh and when they got Mike on the phone as I was leaving? He didn't want to speak to me at all. Seems legit, right? There's PLENTY more I could say, so if anyone is interested please shoot me a message and I'd happily elaborate. STAY AWAY!!!

Beautiful sunsets every evening from the facility

Had a great experience at Elevate addiction services. The program is great and taught me how to take charge of my life again more than just getting sober. Mentally and physically. I came all the way from Michigan and was well worth it. If you are in need of rehab this is the one!

Setting is beautiful but in my experience, drugs were missed in numerous searches, campers routinely left campus, sneaking over the hill at night to have sex or get loaded. Because of their despicably low pay for the wonderful medical and tech staff, turnover is constant. I felt unsafe and when my concerns were voiced, only my incredible case manager, Cindy, advocated for me. I had legitimate threats made against my life by a patient who also sexually harassed and physically chased me and was kicked out. I was not allowed to call the police, and only after having my case manager insist that I be permitted to, I was told by Scott's Valley police stated that "this happens there all the time, they like to handle things internally." Not only that, but the same client was then permitted to join my IOP group. I was then told the only thing I could do was choose to leave. My PTSD which has been under control for years was completely activated and I was dismissed by person after person and felt completely alone and disregarded. I've attached a photo of how they arrange bedding for you if you come down with Covid, which half of the camp had when I was there. Unbelievable and just so so so disappointed in The Camp. Tiffany Baker only cares for her male clients who she embarrassingly flirts with. I was also sexually harassed and groomed by a male tech, and when I came to staff I had no course to rectify it and was made to feel as if it was my fault, while this happened in detox. You will not be respected or considered while here, as you are only a financial gain for this money based endeavor. I cannot stress enough that though there are some EXCELLENT people working at the camp, including the medical team, therapists and some case managers, the program directors and alumni coordinators are completely unfit and uncaring. Never have I felt less empathy and care than when I placed trust in them and had it betrayed tenfold. Do not come here if you are hoping for healing.

Dr. Bunger has a tendency to speak in a VERY condescending tone, most of your appointment is wasted with her typing, and she makes you feel like it's YOUR fault you're feeling the way you do instead of being supportive and understanding of your mental health issues. She always had some form of attitude when bringing up my husband, as if he wasn't being helpful or supportive- I can't help but think she just has a chip on her shoulder from being divorced. It was beyond off-putting to feel like I needed to defend my husband. She takes zero time to listen and truly understand what you're going through or how your lifestyle is, so I just completely stopped trying and searched for someone else. I would just be prescribed medications, sleeping pills I said I didn't want multiple times, and "see you in 3 months." I wasted a year or 2 going no where with her. I finally quit wasting my time and money on someone who only made me feel worse after my appointments. So long story short, I highly recommend you find someone else!

Being that I am an avid Yelper, I searched and picked this place based on the review. Just so happens you also get $50.00 off your office visit when you mention Yelp. I checked in and as soon as I settled in, my Doctor was calling. Sad to say, I'm really not used to fast service at a medical center before now. I met with Dr. Vinh Ngo, who checked me out and spoke to me about my poor little cold and sore throat. I really enjoyed the visit. The Doctor was great, the receptionist was great. I was in and out with my medicine in less than 30 minutes and spend a total of $112.00 with my meds. How could one sick girl be happier than that? Care Practice is a great alternative to paying the big bucks for medical insurance. I hardly get sick and paying $112.00 is way cheaper than most monthly plan preminums.

They should just put "$ Care". At every interaction I've had with them, its been about more appts, more money, oh and by the way, THEY DON'T TAKE INSURANCE. Many of their fees might even be covered by your insurance, but they don't want to do the paperwork. So seeing how its out of pocket, I wanted to be very clear about the cost up front. By phone, they told me "$185 per visit, thats a discount since you found us on Yelp." They scheduled the visit for Saturday, the only day Doctor Wardwell was available. When I came in for the visit, I asked again to verify the price and the admin told me $240. I mentioned to her the discrepancy and she said, "oh, thats our weekday price, its more on the weekends". I mentioned the Yelp discount and she said she could bring it down to $210. Ridiculous but I reasoned it was only $25 more. I told her I knew the test I needed based on two other phone calls with Naturopathic doctors and didn't want to waste Doctor Wardwell's time without having the results first, which were a 3 week turnaround by an outside lab. Doctor Wardwell took me back to his office and instead of a quick 5 min chat, it turned in to 25min with the same result, he recommended the same damn test. I exit feeling cheated that I just did a visit for no reason and no progress. And here's the kicker: Admin: "Your total for today is $290", she says with a straight face. Me: $290!, why $290?" Admin: "Its says here your visit was of medium complexity" Me: "what does that even mean? Is that an actual line item, can I see it?" Amin: "no" Me: "a half hour ago when I came in you told me the visit would be $210" Admin: "okay, I can bring it down to $240" Me: "no, you told me $210" Admin: "okay, $210" I left with a sour taste to say the least. 3 weeks later she calls to tell me my results are in and wants to schedule an appt. Not wanting to return, I said I was feeling better and would call if the symptoms re-surfaced. Two days later, another call from Care, "Dr. Wardwell would really like to discuss your results with you." Me: "I thought I already told you what I wanted the other day". Admin: "Well, he would like me to send you the results" I'm thinking perfect, then I can decide if I need a follow up visit. Two days later Admin: "Dr. Woodward is in the office today (sat) and would really like to either set up a visit or he can speak with you by phone" Me: "I'm at the gym but can do a quick phone call in an hour" She calls me back in an hour and says: "Hi, I have Dr. Wardwell right here, is this still a good time" Me: "yes" Admin: "ok, I'll pass you right over. The call will be 175, is that okay?" Me: "WHAT! $175 dollars? American? Definitely not!" Admin: "oh, okay. Is money a problem?" Me: "Yes, $175 for 5 - 10 mins is a problem, why didn't you tell me this an hour ago when you called?" Admin: "oh okay, I'll tell Dr. Wardwell you don't want to talk to him" Absurd on so many levels. First that she didn't tell me the price of the call beforehand and second that she made me feel like an ass for not wanting to pay a rate that is higher than any lawyer in SF. My two interactions with Care: 1st one I was scammed, the 2nd they tried to scam me again. Not kosher. In retrospect, any doctor who is right there and their patient says, yes money is an issue and doesn't get on the phone to discuss for at least a couple mins, doesn't give two shits about their patient and is purely money driven. To sum it up: Maybe there are other good doctors at Care, but there are a lot of good docs in this town. If you don't want to get totally fleeced and feel like a jackass for asking about the price of your out of pocket care, I would stay away.
