Things like coffee making facilities, where there was more than just the one cup, but enough for 3 each. The bathroom toiletries were awesome! I can't say enough about how good this place is. I had a light takeaway salad. Put ion the hotel bathrobe and had a good sleep. It was eerily quiet and no movement anywhere. The tram 16 gets you there towards city too. Large rooms and comfy bed for $200. Can't complain. Easy check in & out.

Staff should be more considerate of customers…read more I am visibly overweight, trying to lose weight, and I don't enjoy being repeatedly told to order more food than I can eat. I also don't appreciate being given food on the side that I specifically said I didn't want. Please remember that unwanted food ends up in the landfill. If you don't care about the environmental impact of that, or the fact that some people can't afford to eat, consider the fact that you are losing your own money by giving your food to someone who won't eat it.

It comes complete with the following features: Cafe Bistro Outdoor Terrace Function Venue Bottle Shop Wine Bar The small wine bar is a great place to stop for an after work drink due to the large open air window with bar stools, perfect for watching the world go by. Visited this place last night for a dinner & drinks catch up with friends from the high school…read moredays. We booked a nice table out the back area which was rather cute and pretty. I admit Heidelberg/Ivanhoe was my 'just turned 18' stomping ground, I remember the very very old days where this place had yucky sticky carpet, dark wood furniture and a dodgy atmosphere. Since then they have renovated and updated a number of times and it all looks great. I have had a fair number of fun nights at this venue over the years and last night was just as fun. A few of us ordered meals, and the opinion around the table that they were OK, nothing to get too excited about. Myself and another had the "Catch Of The Day" from the special menu. Described as: Oven baked salmon, served with fondant potato, rosemary roasted carrot, baby corn and parsnip purée ($23.90). (Pic uploaded). I enjoyed my dish. It was at the start a tiny bit bland but the nice juicy slice of lemon added the right hit of flavour to the fish to make it rather delicious. I ended up eating and enjoying everything on the plate (except the baby corn, baby corn is weird man!). Even the carrots were delicious and I can usually take or leave those. And fondant potatoes, never heard of them until now but YUM. Can't say much about the other means. My friends pizza looked pretty substantial however she said it felt a bit too fatty too eat much of. They also have a deal advertised via Facebook, that if you check into the venue via mobile you can get half price drinks for the first half of the footy. Bargain! They had TVs all around showing the great Grand Final replay where Hawthorn played brilliant footy. A nice touch to end the night :) Drink service was also friendly and came with a smile. Perhaps I am biased due to my previous fun memories of this venue so 4 starts for this place. I enjoyed my time at The Barkly and hope to be back.

Then again, the mere mention of the word wine bar sort of sends shivers through me, but as a pub, this place was actually not bad at all. Sure, they have a wine bar in it, but they also serve beer, and they also have a rather nice, and quite large, outdoor area. Oh, and the beers they have on offer are also pretty good.

Welcome back the auburn hotel _ established in 1888 - with a little break here and there. As a semi regular - I've watched the slow transformation of the auburn including the menu over the past 12 months to a shorter and sharper offering. Shorter and I think sadly a little too pricey for what it delivers. The real change has been the overhaul of the back room from a grimy pub to a refined dining space. The courtyard area has been doubled and is now a really inviting area with communal benches, mod grass and umbrellas. It's actually s place you want to hang out at now for a sneaky drink. I've been suitably impressed by the impression that the auburn delivers. But... There is still an annoying thing that remain from the Geebung days - e.g. Ordering times - way too long to deliver something like a basic Parma. Previously there used to be "special nights" to entice the locals in - these are all gone with the exception of Tuesday steak night. A little disappointing to be honest as the menu pricing for anything other than a ladies Parma is too rich for most people to go to most nights or on a whim - which is what was great about specials nights. I like what the auburn is trying to achieve. I like the atmosphere they are trying to curate. I (mostly) like the simplified menu but I think they've missed the point of a lovely local when it comes to pricing (9.50 for a side green salad anybody?) and this really needs to be addressed to make it the wonderful local that we will all frequent. 4 for vibe - 2 for menu/pricing. Overall 3 - just. Because I can't do a half star and that pricing is not feeling right to me.

After the service in the chapel on site, photographs were taken in the garden while guests retired to the bar. All this was on site. At the reception, the food was excellent, the arrangements went smoothly, and we had many favourable comments from guests about how enjoyable the reception was. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and Julia and Dearna made every effort to ensure the event went well. The accommodation was very satisfactory and our request for an early breakfast next day for 15 at 8:00 AM was met without difficulty. Because of guests coming from interstate we needed a number of cots and highchairs and these were available where and when we needed them.

Staff is always friendly and welcoming, it's vibrant without being too busy, and the pub grub has never let me down yet. Ideally they would add a few more taps and beer variety, or at least rotate more frequently to mix things up, but it's a small complaint. Yet to partake in a trivia night yet but one started up around us recently and it looked like good fun that we'll likely come back to try. The Glenferrie has made a decent compromise between the old grandeur of the building and space and the need for a young crowd to reinvigorate the place. Apart from drinks and cheer the Glenferrie Hotel also offers accommodation, an outdoor drinking area, food and a decent array of beer and cider. The Glenferrie has jumped on the Rekorderlig bandwagon and while it is fairly pricey, it is still nice to see that certain venues are offering a decent range in cider.
