Palm Coast Lawn And Landscape - Low voltage lighting used can create beautiful shadows

Palm Coast Lawn And Landscape

(3 reviews)

Back in July, I contracted with Palm Coast Landscaping to install artificial turf in my backyard…read moreand was told the job would be completed in August. I put down a deposit, so he could order the turf, and the job would begin. Laborers came and started the process, but I found out, they had NO experience in installing turf. They killed the grass in my front yard laying out the turf (they could have used the concrete driveway) and they also knicked my well pipe while digging, causing a huge water problem. John should have been on the job, overseeing my installation When he did come by to pick up an additional payment, he saw the lousy job, and tried to rectify it. He tightened the turf, but never corrected the seams. They are smack dab in the most obvious parts of the lawn, and visually distract from the overall appearance. John said he had a machine that would make the seams invisible, and promised to come back and rectify the seams. After several "no shows" I have given up hope that the seams will ever be fixed. It distracts from the entire job. I also think he had to order more turf, which he then billed me for shipping costs. Shipping costs were NOT in the contract. Since the installers were inexperienced, I don't think they cut the turf correctly, and there was a tremendous amount of waste. Furthermore, as the project started, I added edging, and thought I would get a fair price. Beware if you make any modifications after your project starts, as you will most likely be overcharged. I was shocked when I went to Lowes and saw that the bricks were $1 a piece, but was charged $10 a foot to install them. That was highway robbery. Do not deviate from your contract, because you will get raked over the coals after the project has begun. John seemed like a nice guy, and talked a good game. He assured me I would have a professional job, and sadly, I believed him. In addition to the horrible seams, my old grass is coming through the turf. Common sense would tell me that a weed blocker should probably have been placed under the turf. This was a huge investment for me, and I simply wanted the job done right. Sadly, I have spent a lot of money, and have a mediiorce job. I would strongly suggest that you do NOT hire Palm Coast Landscaping to ever install artificial turf.

Do Not Use Palm Coast Lawn and Landscape! John Plantenberg…read moreand his landscape business came recommended by someone who, in the past, had sent us good tradesmen. We wanted to replace old concrete patio pavers and the pool surround in our courtyard/pool deck with travertine. John was responsive, polite and able to start immediately. As we had other projects that depended on a completed pool deck, we decided to hire him. Unfortunately we were not on site. I was stuck in the snowy north for ongoing cancer treatments. John said it would take 4 or 5 days to complete the job. He was paid when he requested, and feeling sorry that the mail was so slow, since it was a quick job I even doubled up on a payment. For the first few days all seemed well. The old pavers came up and were carted away and the new travertine was installed. However, towards the end of the week when we started seeing pictures, we discovered how badly the work was being been done. The job was a mess in the photos sent to us by neighbors and tradesmen working on the site. The tile was of uneven heights throughout the job; there were cuts in the tile in inappropriate places; the joints in the pool coping were uneven in width and the coping itself wasn't square; edges where tile met soil were curved not straight; the drain cut was jagged and unsightly; expensive tile had been treated roughly - chipped at the edges and laid in notwithstanding. This is only a tenth of the problems. The tradesman resurfacing the pool left the site, saying that the tile job was so badly done that he would not proceed until I got someone in to correct it. The company about to install screening on our porch, voluntarily called me and said he wouldn't put in the new porch over such a terrible tile installation. Friends who looked in on it said the tiles rocked and wobbled when walked on. John brushed off the criticism and said he would "fix all of it. It would just take a day or two". There were far too many mistakes to fix in a day or two. I felt sick at the realization that I had hired someone who didn't know what he was doing and was stridently unrepentant about his many mistakes. I couldn't expect him to fix a job that he thought was fine, so I called in three hardscaping companies. They confirmed my worst fears. "It is (expletive deleted) job" was the kindest comment. of them said. I knew enough about laying tile to know that it should be laid perfectly straight and tight to the tile next to it from the get go. It shouldn't move or wobble and you shouldn't catch your toe on it. It was incredible to think that more than 100 tiles would have to be lifted and realigned after the fact! It turns out that John and his crew had used the wrong substrate: no concrete (there was no slab underneath) just four inches+ of crushed stone mixed with driveway sand - not cleaned, washed or bleached cement. So, no amount of realigning would have fixed future, constant, settling, discoloration and mold issues. The sloppy seams and cuts in odd places to squeeze in tile were a travesty. When tiles were lifted to look at the substrate the new contractors found cigarette butts. our driveway, empty crates of junk sat for days. Chunks of old pavers and dirt had been tossed into the pool. In our driveway, crates of debris sat for days. John continued to deny that anything was wrong with the job even when I sent him the list of fixes and estimates to redo the whole thing provided by others. I asked him to return half of the money I paid him. He ducked phone calls, texts and emails for a week. I can document with pictures everything I have said about the job in this review. This is what you get when you deal with John Plantenberg and his landscaping company. Worse than an amateur job, a messy worksite and a man too arrogant to admit his mistakes. I beg you, do not use this company for any hardscaping work. I would hate for anyone to relive my nightmare.

Chainsaw-to-limb-to-shingles. They bent an exhaust pipe on my roof. As far as I know, they didn't cut into the roof, but they didn't take precautions. - They tore up my yard with their skid steer and crushed irrigation pipes. It was healthy before and now it's a mud pit. Fine, grass can come back, but prepare yourself for a messed up yard. - The stumps were left tall with jagged breaks, so if you have kids, it will be dangerous for them. There were straight-up wooden swords on the stumps. When I called to ask them to come back out to help me out with some of the things above, they ghosted me. For the amount of money I paid (more than $5k) I expect safety and professionalism. Look, they're good at their job (downing trees), but if you want good service, you might check elsewhere first.

Upon agreeing on a very fair estimate he came and did the job the next day. He went above and beyond the agreed upon work and made sure I was happy with the work done. This was a large and not an easy job. I would definitly use Anthony again!!
