Knowing the insdividual who caused this trauma still practices for a corporate organization locally, and having been fortunate enough to have a long-standing trust with my most recent provider who is retiring and a sole private provider, I knew I would need a family based, non-corporate office to even attempt walking through the doors. What I considered a Hail Mary has turned out to be one of the best decisions I could have made. Typically, I need medication to have my teeth cleaned, let alone by a new provider coupled with the amount of work I know needs to be completed. I made it through a debridement without anything extra that I don't already take for anxiety. That speaks volumes! I was ready to rip all of my teeth out just to avoid the hastle, cost, and judgement that comes with local dentistry. This is no longer the case! If you are looking for judgement free honesty rooted in your individual concerns that takes your actual well-being into account, this is the place! There is still alotmof work to be done, but this team has become a trusted partner in 2 visits! The care and compassion for concern and life circumstamce is insane, for the positive, and something I was truly not prepared for! Massive thanks!!!

I work in healthcare and know how important having good office staff is. They have one of the hardest jobs in the practice because they have to ask for money and deal with insurance, and they are frequently undervalued. The office staff here seemed to be pretty happy with their jobs and had good relationships with one another. The hygienist was friendly and quick with the less comfortable parts of new patient appointments like taking x-rays. They did a good job of asking about the things in my medical history that were relevant to my care and it was obvious they actually read my intake paperwork. My imaging and teeth were reviewed by Dr. Yaya. I appreciated her conservative approach. She was attentive in asking how much something was bothering me before instantly recommending extra procedures for me. She was willing to watch a minor shaded spot on my x-ray rather than instantly recommending a filling. I have only been to the practice once, but I am planning to stay.

Told me to call if I had any issues and if i called on a weekend, to leave a voicemail, because "we get back quick" ..WRONG!! Left 2 voice mails one on Saturday about meds and one about an appointment on Sunday. Call was not returned until Monday morning. Called on Monday and was told that "it just takes a while because it's a hard procedure on the body" ...I said well I want to be sure I'm hurting because I'm healing and not because there's something wrong. To which the administration replied "oh okay that makes sense" .....WHY WOULD I CALL YOU ON A MONDAY MORNING AND SATURDAY AND SUNDAY ...IF I COULD WAIT ??? HORRENDOUS. Freaks.

Avoid at all costs. You are better off pulling your own teeth with a pair of pliers. The quality of…read moredental work will be roughly the same (unfortunately I am not joking) and you will save yourself some money. Below is my detailed review. I took a lot of time to type it out, hopefully someone will find it helpful when selecting a dentist. I originally went to this guy's practice when my previous dentist in the area (Nancy Hartzell) retired. His Central Ave office was close to where I lived and accepted my insurance, so I said why not? My first visit was for a dental cleaning in May 2021, if not earlier. The dental hygienist (I think her name was Jessica) was actually the best dental hygienist in my 20 years or so of going to the dentist, so coming back for cleanings was a no brainer. Ever since my first visit, this guy (sorry, but after the dental work I received I cannot bear to call him a Doctor - the word bum seems more appropriate, but because I don't like being impolite, I will stick with 'this guy'), told me I had a cavity. I never experienced any pain whatsoever, and after each cleaning I smiled and politely said no. Despite having no pain, and seeing nothing on the X-Rays that he was showing me, each and every visit I was pressured and pressured and pressured. If you like being pressured into dental work, this guy is the perfect dentist for you! Unfortunately in November 2022, I caved. It's just a cavity (a routine dental procedure to the best of my knowledge) and I have insurance that will cover it, how bad can it be? Well, it turns out quite bad. After the numbness wore off towards the evening, I realized I couldn't chew. Couldn't chew at all! The pain when I would clamp down on any piece of food using the tooth with the filling was excruciating (I am a guy who's had shoulder dislocation, ACL/meniscus tears, surgeries to repair all that stuff - without pain killers I may add - so I am not that pain sensitive). If being in that much pain appeals to you, by all means, this is the dentist for you! I believe I called the office the following morning. They had me come back in to take an X-Ray and check the seal (I am not a dentist and I am going off memory, so forgive me if a seal is not the correct dental term - but they checked something with the X-Ray). He said the seal was fine, so I was instructed to not chew on that side. Well to be really specific, I was actually told that teeth are like sprained ankles and needed complete rest in order to heal. I had no idea that the anatomy of teeth and ankles were so similar, but I took this guy at his word. I left the office and did as this guy said. No chewing at all on the right side. When I tried chewing on that side again about 10 days later, the pain was not any better! I picked up the phone again and called the office. When I came back in, he first put some more resin on the filling. This guy then proceeded to explain to me that the dental work was top quality, and that there was nothing more he could do for me. Actually, the problem was that I had sensitive teeth! Imagine hearing that. It's not his fault, it's mine. My teeth are too sensitive! Needless to say I came home shocked. I had no idea whether to try and find another dentist. Will they just start drilling? It's one thing to repair something, and it's another to try and fix someone's botched repair. There was nobody I could trust. I ended up just going to my PCP and we decided to just let it sit. In late March/early April (3 months later!!!) I started to be able to chew some soft foods again. However, now I have problems with my jaw. I am not 100% positive, but I think it's related to only being able to chew on one side for that long. Go figure ... But wait, there is more! Here is the kicker. This office went out of network with my insurance less than a month before the procedure was performed. Not only did they not tell me, I explicitly asked the office staff if the procedure would be covered by my insurance at the time of scheduling. Can you guess what they said? Now, they are trying to bill me full price after I carried insurance for many years and did not use the insurance at all. I am fortunate enough to be at a point in life where from the financial perspective, this bill is not an issue. However, in light of everything that happened, I cannot bring myself to pay it. At some point you have to stand up for yourself, right? Part of that process is taking my little free time to write this review. If you've made it this far, thanks for reading. Good luck finding a dentist, and if you find a good one, be sure to let me know!

My cost was $300 and some dollars. A bit high cost as I had good dental insurance, I thought but paid it anyway as his service was good. Unfortunately, a month or so later he sent me ANOTHER bill for the same services. I figured it was a computer error as they had billed a friend of mine twice also. They wanted $222 more! They called me a week later and told me they " found" some new expenses and I HAD to pay it. I will pay it but I ain't happy about about being scammed and I hope they don't " find"another $222 this next following month that I owe them, again. All I can say is for everyone to get a paper receipt when they pay at the office that says PAID IN FULL as I didn't and its my word against theirs and it cost me hundreds if dollars more. That's an honest evaluation of my experience there. Too bad.. He was a good dentist.

They also did not allow Dr. Poz to mail out letters informing his patients of his retirement (nor Dr. Kloster who was right next door & they took his business over too). They also changed my appointment time from 5:00P to 2:00P without checking with me. The first time I ever heard anything about 2:00P was when they left a message to "confirm" my 2:00P appointment. I immediately called & told them my appointment has never been scheduled in the afternoon as I work & that it was scheduled for 5:00P. They told me they no longer have 5:00P appointments as they changed their hours. She tried claiming they mailed something out but I never received anything. They also tried claiming Dr. Poz mailed letters out but interesting enough, not only did I not receive the letter but none of my family members did either. It's just one lie after another. Plus, none of Dr. Poz's staff is there. They did a whole change of personnel. I informed them I will not be back as there's just too many lies.

I waited 10 minutes and went to the desk to be sure they checked me in. I was told the hygienist (name starts with a J) was finishing up with someone. No one left the office in the half an hour I was there. I went up to the desk again after waiting another 10 minutes and was told that they were cleaning the room. I said I would have to reschedule since there wasn't a way for me do the appointment and make it back to work on time, and was told they are scheduling out until August. I understand things come up, but to keep someone waiting 20 minutes after a scheduled appointment and I'm the one that has to go to the desk to get any communication is ridiculous. And then I get talked to like I'm unreasonable for wanting my time respected? No way. Staff used to be friendly, accommodating, with great customer service. New staff needs some new training or just basic communication skills. Sadly, customer lost. However, was able to go to a new dentist that made it a point to make sure I got an appointment next week :)
