Dr. D has always been an excellent Dr for me. Though recently I have had issues communicating with the office.

He has a prescription pad and a checklist. All doctors have these. Your pcp will go over this checklist of ADD symptoms and give you a prescription to try. A specialist will offer a more in-depth look and consider ALL of your disabilities. NOT ELDIN. He only wants a 10 minute conversation, writes a script, and ends the appointment. Then change you way more than your pcp ( because he is a "specialist " Just go to your regular doctor. Eldin is a pill pusher. read more

I am sitting with a group of about 10 people who are waiting for the office to open. Apparently Doc is sick, and his admin ran to grab everyone's scripts at his house....2.5 hours ago. I have never seen anything so unprofessional in my life. read more

Extremely disappointed. I've tried calling 3 different times (left voice mails each time), and emailed twice. Despite the website saying they are taking new patients and that they can accommodate last minute appointments, no one has reached out to me. It's been over a month. This is not how someone who works with mental illness should run a practice. read more

Warning: Avoid Dr. Dzudra at any cost. Complete WASTE OF EFFORT, MONEY, and TIME. You have been warned. Do NOT make an appointment with this psychiatrist. His administrative staff is painstakingly incompetent and unprofessional. I'd go as far as to say flat out rude and inadqueate. The billing staff will make medical phone calls to you off personal mobile numbers, with babies crying in the background. Be prepared to be put on hold often for great deals of time with many unanswered phone calls. No voicemail system. Endless ringing. This monster is out to make a quick buck. Dr. Eldin Dzudra does not care about truly effective treatment planning. Your happiness and health is of no concern to this man. All he cares about is collecting money from your pocket book or insurance policy. You are better off without this money grubbing smug prick. Say NO to this swindler, and find another doctor. read more

I've seen Dr D for about a year. He always asked he the same questions from a checklist. I've answered them roughly the same every time. When I was upset, I made an appointment with my psychologist. He is brief, and I can always communicate a concern I have about medication. When I came across the yelp reviews I felt they were unbalanced. I personally would not feel comfortable using so many negative descriptions about a professional whom I spent 20 minutes with. I see a lot of assumptions on the earlier reviews, I think CONSISTENCY is important when dealing with my medication. And that's what I received from Doc D. read more

The bottom line is that if you actually get in to see Dr. Dzudza, he's a straight forward guy and he'll prescribe what he thinks is best. He is brisk and not one to spend a long time listening. Do I trust him? Yes. Have I trusted other doctors more? Absolutely. Here's the bad part. After 7 years of bad reviews due mostly to the office staff being rude and incompetent, nothing has changed. It's a #%&*!show. DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE. Dr. Dzudza is a good guy, but the staff is awful to the point of incompetency. For example... I was actually hung up on today when I asked for assistance. I was suppose to make an appointment a while ago and had not followed up yet to make an appointment. I was running out of my medication and called 2 times last week and again today. I had not heard back from the office. When I got a hold of them today and the rude office staff told me I couldn't get medication refill until I met with the doctor. I said that I was able to meet him later in the week and asked if I could get a very short-term prescription in the meantime. She said that I had to meet with the doctor and seemed to imply it was my fault I am out of medication because I was suppose to make the appointment. Mind you, this is the same office that schedule an appointment for me and then when I went, the office was locked and no one was there. No apologies from anyone - staff or Dr. D I said I understand that I should have made an appointment but without my medication it will be difficult to function normally for the next 4 days. She didn't seem to care. So I pressed her to ask the doctor for the short term prescription and I would hold. She put me on hold and then HUNG UP. When I called right back 3x, it went to voice mail. No communication or follow up from the doctor or his staff. So my mental health and well-being is in the hands of a very rude woman who does not seem to get the meaning of a doctor's Hippocratic oath. I don't know if I got the prescription for the next 4 days, I don't know if I can schedule an appointment for Thursday, or if I'm still considered a patient. I take medication because I have to in order to be well. It's not like a vitamin C supplement. I am very frustrated and frankly scared. Now I have to scramble and go to my primary to get a script. If that doesn't work - do I go to urgent care? It is UNREAL to me that someone would hang up on a person who is asking for medication that they depend on to live their life effectively. I am sure that this warrants a complaint to a medical board somewhere. Bottom line - Find more dependable practice unless you want to play Russian roulette with your mental health. read more

My experience with Dr. Dzudza was terrible. I went to one appointment and I will not go back. When I first arrived, there were three women sitting at desks doing the clerical tasks of the office. They were friendly, but appeared to be very disorganized. While I was filling out paper work, they were very loud and discussed other patients' files while I was in the room. It was cold the day that I was there (-7 degrees) and the office was extremely hot - if I had to guess, I would say 85 degrees. I took off my coat, but there was no where to hang it. Dr. Dzudza was a little late taking me into his office, but both he and his clerical workers apologized. I sat in his office and there was no place to put my things, so my coat, scarf, bag, etc all went in my lap. He interrogated me with question after question for 15 minutes. Then he pulled out his prescription pad. I have never had a doctor act like this. Instead of feeling like I was being listened to, I felt as though he wanted me to get out as quickly as possible. In my experience, the first visit with any psychiatrist usually lasts for about an 1 hour so that the doctor can get a full medical history and build clinician/patient rapport. With Dr. Dzudza, I felt like nothing more than an insurance card, especially when he started talking about meds. I have taken numerous psychopharmocology classes. When he told me the medicine he was prescribing (a drug for mania), I questioned him, since it would have the opposite effect than I needed (since I was feeling depressed). I also questioned his dosage, since one usually starts this medicine at a low dose (50 mg for this medication), and he placed me on one of the highest doses approved by the FDA (300 mg). He told me that a person would not need to gradually start this medicine and I should not worry. He responded to all of my inquiries by telling me not to worry and that he would see me in a week if there were problems. So I spent the $40 to fill the prescription and started taking it that night. The first day I slept for 18 hours. The second day I slept for 20. The third day I slept for 16. There was no way that I could continue with this medication and not lose my job. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. His people skills are atrocious and his knowledge of dosages is potentially dangerous. Good luck in your search for a good doctor, because Dr. Dzudza is not who you are looking for. read more

If I could vote NO stars I would. He is teh worst, and most arrogant jerk out there. Not even on my 1st visit did he spend 10 minutes with me before scribbling a bunch of prescriptions on a pad and sending me on my way. His receptionist at the Michigan off ice is a horrible troll and cops an attitude If you need some adjustment to your schedule or medication called in because you are out of town. I wish I would have read the reviews here before I went. I never spent more that 5-10 miutes a time in his office before him rushing me out the door. read more

I have seen Dr. D three times so far, and love him! He has helped me immensely in the short amount of time I have been seeing him. I see many complaints here about the brief amount of time he spends with people, but you must remember that he is a Psychiatrist, not a Psychologist. Psychiatrists need basic information to treat you, whereas a Psychologist's job is to spend a longer amount of time listening to your issues in detail. I highly recommend Dr. D!! read more

I have seen Dr. Dzudza a few times and will not return. I saw him because he was in my network, but I have been incredibly disappointed. Much like the other reviews, I have been put off by his callous indifference and his style of questioning. He will ask questions as if by rote ("Have you felt sad lately?"" Have you felt anxious?") but seems to recoil if the answer involves any sort of elaboration other than a yes or no. He then pulls out his pad and prescribes dosages that I have told him cause serious and job-threatening side-effects during past treatments. Avoid if possible. read more

I highly recommend you take a look at the filtered results. The results are filtered because those users don't typically leave reviews on Yelp, but they felt compelled to rate this "Doctor." I originally was trying to write out an approximate transcript of my appointment. It was just too long... there was so much wrong about it. He treated me and my mind like a human shaped disease which needed to be thwarted. Some highlights included his famous survey (if I ever had a question about one of the items and explain my confustion, he would always reply with "in general,) being told that "adults with untreated ADHD are 3 times more likely to be in a car accident and twice as likely to get divorced," (which is why I should take extended release--Adderall or Vyvance.) When I try to describe why I'm antsy about taking extended release because I don't want to take a daily medication because I like the way I am generally and I don't like to take drugs when possible, etc.. He tells me "this is way things are done for people with ADHD." I even tell him, "I'm not people. I'm me! What do you know about me that makes you recommend these medications? Do you never prescribe short release drugs? In what situation would you prescribe them?" (He starts treating me like a drug addict from here on out, like I'm trying to dictate what he should give me, not taking the expression of my concerns as that, the expression of my concerns.) "Okay, let's start over--" "No, let's not start over, then we would have wasted all this time," "--what are Adderall and Vyvance?" "We just keep going back and forth," "Yeah, like you say we keep going back and forth, so, let's see what are adderall and vyvance and how they work and why you think their the best option for me." "No, because we keep going back and forth. This is the way things are done. I'm not going to prescribe you short release [like I'm a drug addict] and you said no to extended release--" "What?" "so what you should do is see a therapist about other strategies for curbing your ADHD." "But a therapist can't prescribe or recommend the medicine that's right for me based on my condition..." Sorry... I'm doing the thing I was trying not to do with the transcript. It's very hard to remember correctly, because memory involves logic to remember things, and this guy never made any sense. I've been diagnosed with ADHD twice and I've seen a psychiatrist in my younger days. This is DEFINITELY not how things are done. They may even be unethical. He treated me like a menace to society and lower than scum on the bottom of his shoe. Honestly, the legal stuff, too, sounds like it was written by him and is very sketchy. He didn't take a medical history, even. He just asked me if I had an EKG, "and it was normal?" This guy could kill somebody. I believe it. At the very least, he will treat you like dirt and not even the legal feels like a safety net. His operation is flabbergasting. read more

I must disagree with the negative reviews. As someone who works in the mental health field as an MSW, I've really appreciated that Dr. D doesn't beat around the bush and gets to the point. Even while doing so, I feel listened to, treated like an adult who knows themselves the best and invited into decision making about my own care and best interests. If that can be done in a quick amount of time and I feel my life is more manageable because of it, then in my books it works. I think the most important part of seeing any professional is being in the right place in life to not only accept help but accept hearing things that you may not want to. read more

Dr. D, as they call him, is a good Dr. He is a bit brusk, not unlike most other Psychiatrists, but he truly cares and wants to help his patients get better. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the care I've received. read more

I just read a recent review and wish I had checked this site 3 yrs ago. We just got the name from the phone book. He saw my daughter in Sept 07. She had moved from Colorado and was seeking someone to sign a form to keep her on our health insurance. We expected an evaluation, and review of her records from previous providers. Instead, he told her (in essence) that if she could go to school full time and work a part-time job, there was nothing wrong with her. Shortly after that, she quit taking her geodon. We have been living with the consequences of that for two years now. I actually called his office myself after her appointment to explain the treatment she had been receiving in Colorado to see if he could readdress her situation. I do not know if he got that message, and I realize he could not call me back due to privacy issues. I have started attending a family support group and they recommended that I do a time line. It was then that I realized the correlation between his comments and her decision to go off meds. It was so hard to get her to make the appt to start with; I am just sick about the result. read more

I wish I would have checked here two months ago . Today was my last visit after having to put up with exactly what others have posted . This guy should NOT be a Doctor. We need a rating for negitive stars this guy does not deserve one ..Help me out Yelp!! read more

I am a patient of Dr. D's and I love him! All of these harsh reviews are terribly outdated. In the short amount of time I have been a patient of Dr. D's I have greatly seen an improvement in my life. I spent many years disorganized, frustrated, and feeling like I was stupid because I could not focus on the tasks in front of me. I felt like a failure because I would have to retake classes or did poorly on a test because I couldn't focus enough to study or concentrate during an exam. I could never quiet my mind. I was diagnosed with adult ADD, something that had never been discovered until I was a teen. Most of the time ADD in girls is not recognized until later in life and I never experienced the "hyperactive" symptom. Mostly just impulsive and attention symptoms. Dr. D helped me address my issues and correctly medicated me. I feel 1000% times better and feel more productive in life and in school. My eyes have been opened thanks to Dr. D. Thanks Dr. D youre the best! read more

I tried scheduling an appointment and the person on the phone was extremely rude to me. I called because I was in need of a good therapist, and he is the only one I could find that was from my hometown which meant a lot to me. I tried explaining that to the person on the phone, but she just shut me off. I just do not understand who hires such an unprofessional staff in a mental health clinic. read more

Dr. Dzudza seems to be good at prescribing medicine. The anti-depressant he prescribed for me work well. However, he has been at least 15 to 30 minutes late for any appointment I've ever had. Additionally he seems cold and arrogant. Most recently, I had to travel to Washington State for an indefinite period while my father underwent a massive heart surgery as a bridge to a heart transplant. A very difficult time for my family. Dr. Dzudza was aware of this. I set an appointment for the only day he was available between a business trip and my trip home for the surgery. On the morning of the appointment, he canceled. The receptionist told me he would still refill my prescription since I had had an appointment and he was the one to cancel. When the pharmacy sent the refill request in, he refused to fill it. I spent a week on the phone trying to refill my prescription and was unsuccessful in getting him to do so. He didn't even notify me that he was unwilling to honor the refill request so I was left with 2 days to try to find a brand new doctor in another state who could get me in to refill the prescription. Impossible, actually. Stopping an anti-depressant cold turkey is dangerous and intensely counter-productive but Dr. Dzudza was in no way willing to work with my circumstances or to protect me as a patient. He was uncommunicative and conveyed mixed messages through his staff. Be advised that you should be careful with this doctor. Go ahead and get a good prescription but then find another doctor immediately. I was able to find help through the hospital where my dad had surgery, I will never go back to Dr. Dzudza. read more

I specifically created this Yelp account just so I could write a review. I had already been cancelled on by another psychiatrist due to my insurance not being able to cover. I reached out to Dr. Dzudza's office hoping to finally be seen by a doctor. They told me I could come in within the week and I was relieved/excited. I used a PTO day from work so that I could make it to this appointment. I left work and an hour later recieved a call that my appointment had been cancelled. I missed the call and when I tried to return to reschedule I got no answer after I called several times and left a voice message. I cannot believe that not only would a doctor cancel with only 3 hours until my appointment, but wouldn't even have the courtesy to give me a call back after reaching out to them to reschedule. Maybe in the long run I dodged a bullet and will be thankful, but I could not believe how unprofessional and messy this practice was, and I didn't even step in the door! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Dzudza for the past few months, and although I think it's awful that others have had similar horrible experiences with this man, I'm glad to have found I'm not alone; I was beginning to think he just straight up hated me, but apparently his cold and apathetic demeanor is something he shares with every patient. This man should not be practicing. After months of unsuccessfully searching for psychiatric care without insurance, I was placed with Dzudza at a clinic in Chicago Heights. Every appointment, including the first, has been nothing but 5 min of him speeding through a series of the most shallow-ended questions (e.g. Are you sad? Are you blue?), me trying to explain that what I'm experiencing is more than just depression (severe anxiety, panic attacks, along with other issues), him immediately cutting me off and whipping out his script pad only to put me on the same crap that hasn't been working since I've started seeing him. Despite being on the same meds/dosage for as long as I've been seeing him, he makes me return EVERY month to repeat this horrible process. I understand that psychiatrists don't delve THAT deep into issues during every appointment, but I have NEVER been treated with such disregard by a doctor before. Yesterday's appointment was the last straw. My therapist has become greatly concerned because she doesn't feel that I've been diagnosed properly, or, that if I have, I'm definitely not being prescribed the medication I need because there is little difference in my behavior and mood whether or not I'm on the meds....which I haven't been for 2 months because I HATE seeing him. She took it upon herself to write Dr. Dzudza a letter explaining what she felt was the problem and asking him that they work together to find the right treatment. Because the clinic has a different fax number for EVERY department (which they don't tell you), she wound up sending it to the wrong one and it got lost, so I hand-delivered the letter to him at yesterday's appointment (after waiting 35 min past my appointment time even though I was his FIRST patient of the night....this also happens ALL the time, most of the time it's even worse) with the hope of finally making a breakthrough in my treatment. He blatantly PRETENDED to read the letter in front of me for a couple of seconds, shoved it back in the envelope, and instead of keeping it in my record or asking me for my therapists number, he hands the letter back to me, doesn't mention a word about it, and goes about talking down to me about how I haven't seen him in the past 2 months trying to convince me that THAT'S why I haven't been doing so well. I got about 4 words into trying to explain YET AGAIN, what's been going on, he interrupted me with his gamut of BS questions to which I could only give 1 words answers because I was absolutely livid at that point. He whipped out his pad again and told me that because the clinic was out of samples Lexapro (what I normally take), he'd just give me Celexa instead (which I've been on before with no success). I don't understand how a person with such disregard for people's feelings and dignity could have a licence to practice psychiatry. Geeze, if you hate people THAT much, why even persue one in the first place?! Sadly, without insurance, I have nowhere else to go, but I FULL HEARTEDLY suggest that if you have other options, PLEASE see someone else. You will get NOWHERE with this man except very frustrated and deeper into depression. read more

This practice is atrocious! If there was an option for zero stars- I would select it. The receptionist is absolutely unhelpful. I had an appt at 3:30 and couldn't find the location as it's not in a stand alone building. I called at 3:35 trying to find the practice. The receptionist kept me on the line for 6 minutes telling me how to find the location to tell me, once I parked, that they couldn't see me!! She never informed me that I needed to be 10 minutes early but insisted that she had. What an awful experience. One would think hiring a professional and empathetic receptionist would be a given in a medical setting. I would highly recommend not choosing this practice! read more

So let me start by explaining that this is only what I got out of my experience, there may be clients out there that like this kind of service. When I got to the building it was a hole in the wall kind of place. Which is fine I guess. Sometimes the exterior can be deceiving. So I go inside and the hallway is dark and eerie. Not unlike a horror film. It would make a very good setting for one actually. The doctors in the building had papers up as signs. Also there was no sign of life anywhere on a Thursday afternoon. I go into the office, the atmosphere is ok, a little awkward, but the receptionists/assistants were polite enough. The doctor comes in, he seems nice. I go into the room and we start talking. I try to make a couple comments about the reason I'm there while he is asking his routine questions. However he interrupts me 3 or 4 times with another routine question. I guess he only wanted yes or no out of me. But in my experience in mental health, its always more than yes or no. After a few of his interruptions I began to feel uncomfortable. I interrupted him and confronted his rushing. He said he just wanted to ask the routine questions then we can talk. I proceeded to just let him do his song and dance. At the end he did give me the opportunity to elaborate, but by that time I just wanted to leave so I said I had nothing to say. He gave me 2 Px for pills and I left. The entire exam was done in 10 minutes, I timed it. To give you an idea, I work in a private optical office, our eye doctors take 20 minutes to diagnose what your eyeglasses Px should be. He diagnosed my head in 10. He may just be that good, but I doubt it. And another thing is I got an appt right away. They had an appt for the next day, but I had to work so I took one for 3 days later. I tried to make one at another office for a doctor fresh out of medical school, I had to wait 2 months. Now I understand why. Because he can see 6 patients an hour. I just read all the other reviews for this doctor and I'm thinking to myself, why hasn't anybody reported him to the Board of Medicine? I understand there may be unhappy patients because there always will be unhappy people. But everyone is saying the same thing. He should not be practicing medicine. I will try to contact the Board of Medicine about him when I have the chance. read more

The worst doctor ever... Dr. Dzudza refused to answer my questions about medication, and even told me to shut up when I was asking important questions and telling him about side effects I was having from medication. He would even ignore my questions altogether and not answer... All he is there for is to write a prescription, he did not listen to me and he was rude and uninterested in evaluating my treatment. This is the worst doctor ever.... There is no excuse for a doctor to completelly ignore a patients questions about treatement or medication. This guy is really unprofessional. If someone is gonna treat psychiatric patients they can't ignore them and make them feel small/stupid... This is totally detrimental to any psychiatric treatment. I've never been as offended as i was by this doctor's treatment of me. This is important: this is not a judgement of how rude he is, it's an illustration of how incompetent he is... To ignore questions, tell the patient to shut up, and ask non-qualitative questions in a yes/no format... My treatment was critical and he actually set me back months by not listening to me.... read more

So far I'm very satisfied with Dr. D; he's always on time and usually sees me like 10-15 minutes earlier than my scheduled appointment, he doesn't come across as an arrogant person, to me he seems calm and confident maybe some people mistake that for arrogance I dunno and the questionare is used as sort of a "starting point" for your treatment and it gives him a better idea of what direction your therapy should go in and what areas need to be focused on so people need to stop getting so hung up about the questionnaire. As far as not spending enough time with his patients you have to remember he's a psychiatrist he won't spend hours talking with you, if you want that you need to see a psychologist; and he's not a "prescription factory" he's only prescribed me one medication trust me if he doesn't think you need it he won't prescribe it, he tries to help you with the least amount of medication possible. He has helped me out tremendously, every aspect of my life has improved since I started seeing him he knows exactly what he's doing. I go to his Lincoln office which is on kind of a historic looking block and its next to my favorite apothocary store, the office is very nice and he has a beatiful secratary I couldn't ask for anything more from a psychiatrist. If I had one complaint it would be that it can be kind of hard to find parking at that location sometimes, I'll definitely be recommending him. read more

Umm due to the fact I have an HMO and was limited to psychiatrists, I was referred to Dr. Dzudza by my PCP. I would have to agree with the person who posted the first review......however, I made the mistake in giving him the benefit of the doubt. Well, 5 months later I am still being asked the same damn questions. I never felt comfortable talking to him because I knew he didn't give a crap. He just wanted to prescribe whatever and move on to the next. The only thing good was the fact I could get in early, but that was probably due to him booting everyone out of his office before they've said two words. I'm so glad my insurance changed and I'm going to see someone else. I can't believe this guy doesn't have more negative feedback. He's truly not worth seeing. I've almost given up and stopped all my medication because I'm still anxious, still having trouble focusing, and I'm still depressed. read more
