So far, I've only been once to visit my in-laws and my feelings are mixed. Beautiful place. The…read morecheck in process is almost a joke. The temperature machine didn't work. It wouldn't read my husband's temp and it flagged me at 97.7°. The front desk staff just waved us through. Turned out I wasn't even signed in. I didn't get a visitors badge. And when i tried to sign out at the end of the day, it didn't recognize me. The PALS on the second floor were friendly but seemed a bit intrusive. In the few hours we were there, they peeked in the room multiple times, mostly without knocking. My in laws are a bit annoyed at this and I'm not sure if this is part of the care we pay for or what, but i think in the next few weeks we are going to need to make some adjustments so their privacy is better acknowledged. Little bit annoyed that my MiL was scheduled for hair and nail appt but nobody came to get her or even let her know when her appt was, so she ended up not being dolled up for Christmas dinner. We had Christmas dinner with the parentals and the special for the night was a Reuben sandwich. Not very festive. The staff said they offered a holiday brunch... but we were there for dinner. I ordered the Reuben which was good. Mushroom soup lacked flavor. Caesar salad was good. My husband had the filet, which he enjoyed.. but the baked potato was tiny and sad. For a luxury senior home, I think the restaurant needs to step up its game! BIG TIME! And we spoke with a resident of 4 years who mentioned they stored serving wine at lunch because they were having issues. So they only serve wine with dinner. I guess you can have your own wine in your room, but seems like these are all seniors who can make up their own mind about their alcohol consumption and if there's a problem with a specific resident, that can be addressed on a case by case basis. Punishing a whole community seems overkill. Anyway.. will update in a few weeks and see if we can get some changes made so that the parentals are happy about their new place.

I live about 4 miles from Courtyard and when possible, I visit David. This visit, I made it a point of joining David for lunch, since I used to be Food Service Director in many Los Angeles facilities. So this was my main focus today, Friday July 11. And what a wonderful experience it was! Earlier, at the reception desk, I paid a $10 fee for lunch and it was well worth it. There were two entrees to choose from but before being served, a nice waitress, Gisele, came by and asked what we would like to drink. I chose Cranberry juice & David chose a tea. Within a few minutes, we were first offered a beautiful salad with a choice of dressing. After that, we were offered a choice of two entrees. David chose the fully loaded Hot Dog with sweet potato fries. I chose the Clams Alfredo. Both turned out well prepared and delicious. We enjoyed the delicious Lunch and each others company. There were several Ladies tending the tables and all went well. Thank you, Dining Room Staff: Gisela Catalan, Rubi, Maria and there was one more. I'll get her name and include it when I update next time.

This is not just true of the professional staff but includes servers in the dining room, housekeeping, maintenance, etc. Employees are not only supportive of residents, friends, and family members like myself, but they support each other which creates a palpable familial atmosphere throughout. Whatever one's quirks and needs, they are addressed both lovingly and respectfully. Five stars isn't nearly enough to express the superb situation my partner has found here.
