Despite my reservations, I decided to give this place a go; mainly because I'm a skint student and…read morethere were some good offers on colours advertised in the newspaper. My first visit was ok, if a little quiet (neither of the hairdressers spoke during the entire appointment- to me or each other) but I was happy enough and returned twice more. NEVER AGAIN. After my third appointment I noticed that my hair was much lighter than I had wished- a white blonde rather than more natural highlights and I was developing bands of different colours throughout my hair; I also had a sort of striped effect around my roots which I did not think was intentional! A colour specialist who has since attempted to remedy the faults of Glam n Glitter, informed me this is called "bleeding" and can occassionally occur near the neck as the weight of the hair forces the foils underneath to move. However, as the evidence of "bleeding" was throughout my hair it was more likely too much dye had been used and the foils carelessly applied; her carelessness is understandable given her evident distraction at the time; she seemed far more interested in her friend, and I believe colleauge, who was buying hair extensions nearby and fitting them in the salon (which took a while and my hair dresser's assistance) before discussing ordering and buying lunch for the pair of them. I felt rather uncomfortable on this occassion as again no conversation was made and I was made to felt like an intruder on their social life! The colour specialist also pointed out that Glam n Glitter had bleached my roots too excessively and caused the banding of colours in my hair. It will take a while to grow the damage out and/or a lot of money to correct it using low lights and toners; I am not happy and would definitely not recommend this salon.

I have had…read moremany bad experience s with hairdresser s mostly they look at my bleached damaged hair in disgust. I have 4 children and don't have time or money to be glamourous!!! Its a rare treat for me!!! Anyway, the girl asked me what I wanted and I told her, I have been stung many times by hairdresser s giving me a price then they add on all these services which are told u need then price goes up from 50 pound to 100 and u only told when u get the COUNTER!!! I said I wanted half head of foils, cut n blow dry n that's what I got. She was very polite and accomadating whilst other staff got on with there own thing. I love the fact these girls were not fake and try to force conversation I find that stressful and not enjoyable. With saying this there was some banter between myself and hairdresser but it wasn't forced!! I had an amazing head massage and came out feeling great. Least stressful time IV ever had at a hairdressers n my hair looks amazing. The writing on the wall made me chuckle ...n my hubby loves it too... price was spot on, cannot reccomend this place enough, does exactly what it says on the tin. Love it

Mahogany is a stunning new salon opened just weeks ago on Bridge Road. It's stands on the spot of…read morethe once popular Elation (relocated) and is truly gorgeous! I've only called in for enquiries but will definitely be making an appointment. A cut and finish is a moderate £30 but the colour treatments seem a little pricey- £60 full head colour, and £50 for tint regrowth. Mahogany offer a dry cut as well as children's and gent's cuts I think this will be my special occasion/ treat salon rather than my regular hairdressers. I'd like to try the Teknowash Treatment at Mahogany, reportedly the "first salon in the country to install the exclusive Gamma Bross Teknowash" .ooooh!!

I had been nosing at the place for several weeks while it was being refubished and knew it was going to be nice - but it took my breath away when i went inside. As soon as you walk in their is a relaxing atmosphere with chilled music in the background and a fantastic water feature as you walk in! Immediatley i was greated by a pleasent young girl who took my coat an gave me a drinks menu! I opted for a white wine - and when i was took to the station, it was there waiting for me. I had my colour done, and was told the colour is mixed with a new brand called Moroccanoil - apparently used by all the celebs! Anyway - back to the salon - i sat there with my second glass of wine watching the television, which i thought was a mirror, until the stylist turned the television on and gave me the remote whilst i sat their in my foils! I was then treated to a complimentary hand massage! Couldnt recommend this place enough to my friends - went a few days later for a blow dry before a wedding, where this time i opted for a cup of coffee which was accompanied by a croissant! As mentioned in the review above, i paid £63 for half a head of foils with 3 colours but this included my cut and blow - so i thought the price was very resonable! A hidden gem in liverpool!

This is now my official hairdressers; I love it!…read more Retro is not far from my home or old school, and it's been open for a good few years now, it has always come very highly recommended and yet, until yesterday, I was a Retro virgin. I needed my barnett sorting in preparation for a party and thought I'd try somewhere new; I went along to Retro, having booked an appointment earlier that day, and as I sat waiting for my stylist I began to worry that the outcome would be disastrous and my terrible new do would ruin the photographs of the evening's celebrations. However the professional manner of my hairdresser, Rebbecca, as she discussed my desired style and how she would create it, settled my nerves a little. In under an hour I had had a consultation, had my hair washed, (with the most divine products; the shampoo smells gorgeous0 layered and styled with a new full fringe, and blow dried beautifully with big bouncy curls. My hair is very long and thick and in my experience, hairdressers tire or simply bore when styling it, but Rebbecca was patient and did a great job; I was thrilled with the final result. The services are very reasonably priced as well; £22.50 for mine. My only complaint is the somewhat hazardous salon chairs! The protruding foot rests caused a couple of trips and a near concussion as another client took a tumble into the metal stair rail!

This may suggest its an old lady salon catering for perms and sets, but this is far from the truth. Its a bright, modern salon, with young stylists, but friendly and welcoming nontheless, you wont feel initimidated or out of date. Ive used a couple of stylists here and they have all been good - my favourite is Annmarie, who is a great colourist, and takes her time to make sure you are happy with her suggestions before she starts. I just wish she worked Saturdays! Expect to pay about £30 for a cut and blow, and approx £50 for half head foils and cut.
