I overpaid by $11,000 on my account by accident. 3 months later they still have not returned the money to me They sent me a letter saying that they sent it to my bill pay but my bill pay has no record of it. My bank and bill pay has stated that they would need a trace number on the transaction so that they can see where the money went. I have called ELON FINANCIAL 3 months in a row requesting that Trace number and they will not give it to me but instead give me a runaround every time I call. You can never speak to the same person twice which is a huge part of the problem. When you do get through to a supervisor they don't know what's going on with the account until you explain everything again and again. It a nightmare dealing with this company. Today I sent a certfied letter to the president of the company, Peter Klukken. Perhaps he will look into the incident himself and realize that he either has a thief in his company that pocketed over $11,000 or an incompetent staff who never put a trace number on an $11,000 transaction. OK thanks but I see no fraud and have called day after day after day and sit on hold - 1 HOUR, another day 25 minutes, another day 20 minutes, just music and "please hold someone will be right with you" and hold and finally hang up. I call the CC service line and they just transfer me to the FRAUD line and repeat the same - music, hold and wait .. I just hang up after 20-40 minutes now. Who has time for that junk? Always paid on time, someone misapplied a cc payment towards my account, without my knowledge just days after I made my normal monthly payment, The payment returned and they closed my account. I had a credit card through Elan Financial Services for several years (from another entity that I won't name as my issue isn't with them). However, due to the low credit limit, as compared to every other credit card I've ever had, I rarely used it. As a matter of fact, I had stopped using it completely and left it in a locked safe that only I have access to and where it had been for, at least, 18-24 months. So not only hadn't I used it but it hadn't left the safe for close to two years. In June of this year, I had received a "declined transaction" message from my bank (on behalf of Elan Financial Services) for a "card-not-present" transaction attempting to purchase tickets to an event several states away from me where I have never been and have no connection with. Of course, I confirmed that, obviously, it wasn't me and cancelled the card as I wasn't using it anyways. To be fair, I'm very happy that they caught and stopped the transaction from going through. However, upon further reflection it occurred to me that something very fishy had occurred here as the only place that information could have been accessed from was their internal records - as I don't have that information saved electronically anywhere and the card itself was locked in a safe. Also, when I looked into further, I discovered it they just happened to have a subsidiary office in the town/city in which the transaction was attempted. Is it just me or does that sound extremely suspicious? I hadn't used it AT ALL and it hadn't been anywhere where it could have been compromised or scanned/captured in at least 18 months. When I brought that fact up with the person from their security team, they said that they would investigate further and have the police look into and that I would probably get a call soon. I can't prove that the card was accessed internally by a member of their staff or possibly a contractor working for them but I also can't think of another scenario that would explain how this card's info was accessed with it having been locked away for so long. It seems EXTREMELY unlikely that someone scanned it with one of those skimmer devices they talk about on the news 2 years ago and then waited until June of this year to use it. I never did hear back from them or anyone else regarding this situation but, as long as the card has been cancelled (which I received physical and electronic confirmation of) and I wasn't charged for the nefarious transaction, I'm just going to move on and never do business with them again. Based on my experience, I would recommend avoiding this company and possibly considering cancelling any card that you may already have with them. read more

Representatives treat me like a con, POA paperwork that I have faxed over twice has not been recorded, all the while her account stacks with late fees. Wow. I'm shocked but not surprised at the amount of negative reviews here. I absolutely get why this business has so many of them. For months now I have been trying to pay THEM as I attempt to settle my deceased mother's estate account. They have fumbled the process every step of the way since September, (my mother passed in June), and with a tremendous lack of empathy. They've fumbled so badly, that they have my mother's account in collections now! On my last phone call a few weeks back I gave them the estate checking account information directly over the phone to deduct the payment. Their response? To send me a collections notice, on two occasions since November, demanding payment. I've been able to pay every creditor on my Mom's behalf except for Elan services. Thus far, after several phone call and an attempted intervention by my credit union, Elan has failed to process several of my purchases-including an early payment I made over a week ago. Do not use this financial institution. I paid off a credit card in full and had to do a stop payment on it. Paid off the credit card three days later and the bank reversed the payment by error. The bank fixed their error and I re payed the credit card off. Elan closed my account under a fraud flag even after knowing the mistake that was made. So I contacted the bank and now they are contacting the elan financial institution and explaining the mix up. I have been an excellent card holder for over a year. I paid on time and over the minimum payment. Elan thinks they can screw consumers for paying off their credit cards early by negatively effecting my credit for the next 10 years. Elan financial institution is a company that doesnt play fair nor do they treat their customers the right way. Do not use this company for their personal or business credit cards. I have an Elan credit card through my bank and brokerage firm with a high credit line and very low balance. I made a payment 3 days prior to due date, however, I was told that it was late after they reduced my credit line by more than $15,000, and adversely impacted my utilization ratio and credit score. For months, after numerous telephone calls and providing documentation at my expense, Customer Service and Underwriting gave me multiple reasons. TODAY, I was told by a rude Underwriting staff that it was because I was overdue on one payment of $70. Really? This entire experience was a nightmare - rude and uninformed staff. Thank goodness I have a minimal balance on both accounts because they are getting closed. I filled a dispute investigation and was given a temporary credit but it has been reversed and I am being charged $49.09 for a purchase from a foreign company. The case processor claims that I was called and that they left a voicemail but this is lie; because there are no calls to me and no voicemail in my iPhone. I even called Apple Support to check the settings on my phone. This has happened 3 times and there are false statements recorded in the customer service records by the case processor supervisor. All I get is a runaround. I am being charged for a purchase that was never received and the merchant has the product back but refuses to refund me and Elan reversed the temporary credit. I am charged $49.00 for something that I do not have and the merchant verified that they have the product. They claim that I do not have sufficient fund in my paying account and charge late fee while none of this is true. I tried to call them and they tell me to go to my bank to resolve the issue. I contacted my bank and figured out what was wrong. It took even the bank manager a while to help me figure things out. It was a misunderstanding about which account in linked for payment. The customer service does not handle my call well at all. The person kept insisting that it was all my fault, they have sent multiple letters to inform me( about what???) and also even claimed that they can view all my records and activities in their website so in one words, it's all my fault. My request and complain to get a refund for late fee was made up- the customer service was acting like your narcissistic boss who always needed to have the upper hand instead of giving service. This financial service is the worst experience, ever! I have 11 credit cards, and pay them down every month to avoid interest, while keeping my utilization under 20%.. My local credit union had a promotion with this credit card company. I signed up after being told that the minimum credit line is $3,000.00. My annual salary is over six digits, and I thought for sure with my good credit (as most of my cards are over 5,000.00) I would get a better limit. This goofy institution gave me a $1,000.00 credit limit-what a joke! REALLY?! Had I known that I would have never signed up. When I reached out to them they said there was no increase available and that I was locked in at $1,000.00. I have a Water & Power Credit Union account which sold to Elan and now all credit cards are now under Elan. They never informed customers and now we have to deal with the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I have been on the phone for over 4 hours trying to resolve an issue with them charging me fees AFTER I had paid off my credit card. I never use my card and somehow I have $131.42 in fees. Although everyone I've spoken to has been nice, they are extremely unorganized and keep transferring me to the original prompt which ends up hanging up randomly or sends me back to square one. It seems like nobody can actually help which is a complete waste of time. Whatever you do, do NOT use this card. Here's my BS story. I changed the bank account to pay toward the card. They accepted the first payment, no problem. Made a second payment but I start getting declined notices. I called. I have plenty of room on the card. They stated because I changed the institution I am using to PAY MY BILL they have a 7 day hold. Even though (as they stated it was a system error) they accepted and posted my first payment, all of a sudden, the second payment has a hold. I found it difficult to setup online access from the beginning which should have been a red flag, but what really gets me is the fact that I setup auto payments and they skipped the first payment. Like, why??? Why set your customer up for failure and ruin the relationship from the beginning, not to mention a blemish on me and my credit. They said it was in the 18 million word disclosures that nobody reads, which is just spineless to say. I guess their 39 fee is how they get rich but what a disgraceful company!!! I missed one minimum payment of $10 and they deactivated my card. that card was set up on auto pay for my vendors and disrupted my payements to them.. all for one (and only) missed payement of $10. Elan credit card services sucks. I should've known four years ago when I lost 50,000 reward points and they didn't even care. It's my fault for not knowing the ins and outs. Burn me once right. however, over the next five years I had multiple disputes. They never favored always the merchant. You had to jump through three hoops use blue ink on one page black ink on another and make sure that mailed back to them in seven days or they wouldn't help you at all. Simply put, they do not care about you as a customer. I have been a Fidelity customer for 20 years now. Absolutely no issues. I have also been a Fidelity credit card member for 15 years, I don't recall any issues there either. Anyways, recently deposited checks into Fidelity and it took 2 weeks for them to clear causing bills to bounce back. One of them was the Fidelity CC. I explained this situation, that I've never been late on a payment in 15 years and they simply did not care. Still charging me fees. $30 here, $30 there. They even siad when I requested a reversal "we see youve been a valuable customer and have not requested this before" blah blah. Nope, denied. I called back to get an explanation and the guy I talked to simply did not understand what was going on. In the end closed my card. Horrible, inept, rude, the B team, randomly deciding to decline legit charges and then lock the card! "I" can lock the card! None of my other cards have to render my card useless because of one questionable charge. I tried to cancel my card and they told me I could not, because their computer systems were not connected to the bank. ?? They told me I had to call back. Calling them constantly IS the reason I am cancelling the card. And calling them is a marathon on hold. You might as well get a drink and a snack. The reps sound hassled, so I'm likely not the only one not happy. On rep got intense and angry with me when I asked WHY a charge was declined. That tells me that she did not know and cannot get that information. I have been oh hold now for 28 minutes and no human in sight yet. And the "please hold after your call to participate in a brief survey"- oh you bet. Although the last time, the rep hung up so I could not participate in the survey. I end up calling them at least twice a week over legitimate charges that were declined. There are much much better cards out there with better reps and logical methods.
