CRUNCHY PALABOK... YUM!!! And why does EVERY SINGLE PERSON here, have a Halo-Halo?!?! We were…read moretold this is THEE spot locals hit to get their halo-halo fix in Puerta Princesa, Palawan, PI. It sure was the looks of it, as every table was indulging in this Filipino dessert when we walked in! Not many car parking spots available outside, but that's kinda the norm here. Trikes are main way to get around and about town. AC is in full blast and its Counter service here. It's better if you speak Tagolog here, cuz my broken Tagalog wasn't gettin' me anywhere. Yup, boo boo face! :( Quite a few entrees prepared in front to see, as well as a wall menu to order from. So we ordered a few things... *CRISPY PALABOK: Never had this version of palabok before, and I LOVED it!!! The crispy noodles?!?! Oh, that just changed the game on this popular Filipino dish. So much I craved it the rest of our trip around the Philippines! Sauce was perfect and topped with lots of chicharron crunch. So GOOOD, we had to get a second plate, even, lol! *HAMBURGER: The young squires each had one of these with fries and not very impressive. The meat patty is tiny, almost the same size as the cucumber and tomato slices that was came with it. The hamburger came out first, separate from the French fries. Ehhh. *HALO-HALO with ICE CREAM: Perfect dessert to cool off from the humid hot atmosphere outside, and they do this dish WELL here! Big scoop of ice cream, a slither of leche flan, filtered water for ice is used and it is crushed very fine. Lotsa condensed milk and jackfruit, red beans, & sago sit at the bottom to mix. A perfect mix of YUM!!! Shoulda came here more often for their palabok & halo-halo while we were here. Certainly missed out on that yumminess! Avoid the burgers & stick with the dishes, and you'll be a happy camper ;)

I have discovered the finest coffee roaster in Palawan, perhaps in all the Philippines! The best…read morecoffee in Puerto Princesa. The proprietor, Banch, really knows his coffee. He also took the time to ask me exactly how I like my coffee as well as what kind, flavors, brewing method, everything! Armed with that information, he created a remarkably enjoyable coffee experience that this well-traveled coffee lover will never forget. Tucked down the alley next to the "Dreamcare Massage" sign and across the street from Pinoy Litson Manok, this place is definitely worth seeking out. They roast themselves a variety of origins, including local Philippine coffee, and have desserts and snacks as well. Enjoy your coffee! :-)

Thinking it would be closed they were open ! My experience was incredible . The owner welcomed me and my girl in. We ended up staying for 3 hours just talking and informing us about coffee and the difference taste and making ! There's all types of coffee and they even roast their own coffee beans! Coming here…read morealmost everyday throughout my stay in the main city was definitely a treat with the local staff's friendliness and upbeat attitude. We got exceptional attentiveness with the quality dishes and delectable drinks and desserts. Not to mention the cute and clean interior. Coming to Eightynine Cafe with a tricycle was difficult because most locals couldn't find it, but since it's located on the main road of Rizal, it is easy to find without precise directions. Located next to a local hotel with tourists, this cafe is new and modern with brown wooden tables and chairs. Its homey feel is more catered to tourists and millennials. The food items they serve are innovative and fun from inspirations from various countries like Indonesian to French with a Filipino twist. It is the top pick for specialty coffee to food bloggers. I love their Spambol and its katsu-like take on spam. You think it's like a spamsilog, but it's definitely a special breaded spam. Everything has a beautiful but simple presentation. Ask for garlic rice if needed but it might be an additional $$ to the bill, though it was well worth it. I felt like I was in a local cozy Taiwanese cafe. The drinks are definitely a main thing to get in this cafe. The latte art is exceptional when they design it. Try all the special coffee like the Charcoal Latte or the Yuen Yueng. Wifi available. No CR. Go outside of the cafe to the hotel. There's no toilet paper so bring your own wipes. Cash only. Open decently late. Mangaon ta!
