I still enjoy this restaurant after all these years. When they are busy, the food is great. Went on Saturday evening and ate pretty good. I asked the server for a bigger bowl of salsa that way she won't have to keep walking back and forth. She brought a decent sized bowl out and I was happy. The food was hot and fresh. Decently priced I reckon for today's times. The mild salsa is my favorite and still tastes the same. The only thing that I may say needs to be done is the bathroom. It needs a total overhaul. Regular lunch spot in Griffin. Food is normally good and service is quick. Today I ordered the Texas fajitas (add mushrooms). However, when when I began assembling my fajitas I notice there were no shrimp. I asked the server about it and she was very smart mouth about it. I asked if I could get my shrimp on the side or just be charged for a steak and chicken fajitas. She said "I just want charge you for the mushrooms"(with attitude). Not apology or attempt to make the customer order correct. I just said ok. Thanks. Wishes I had better service on this day and that my food would have been correct. This has been my favorite spot since 2010 and used to live on Lake Louise it was the 1st one I came across in town and I stuck with them. Friendly staff. Strong drinks great fresh food. Now this is my second time as a patron for this business and my overall experience was a 5 star at the last visit. This time I'd have to give a deduction after being shorted 2 wings on my 20 piece. This may not be a big deal to some, but I'm all about getting what you've paid for especially in this economy and when I have to share with my greedy husband. Nonetheless the wings were amazing though, but a note to the cook about watching the count on those wings is needed especially if y'all don't offer a cheaper price for a 18 piece. read more

They charged my card on 2 different occasions when I was NOT there then I call to speak with manager he said he is aware of situation has had several calls and complaints but yet refused to help me over phone. I live 45 min away and he said he was too busy to talk to me and hung up on me 3 different times I called. I ended up calling bank disputing charges and filed fraud charges. I just can't like this place. Every time my husband and I have gone in the restaurant, the atmosphere is just kind of blah. The place feels dingy. The staff is very nice, that's undeniable; however, the food isn't good enough to make us want to come back. Everything tastes bland, and that's pretty crazy for Mexican food. They are one of the few open on Sundays here in town, so my husband and I ordered food to-go. We just wanted to share a full order of fajita nachos. My husband didn't bother to check the food while he was picking it up, so we discovered when we got home that the order was a half order at best. He was not excited about having to share. I know the to-go plates are only so big, but we paid $10 for what should have been $6. I also asked for a side of chips & salsa, they gave us a giant bag of chips and one tiny container of salsa. Who needs two pounds of chips with 1/4 cup of salsa? It's a total waste. I'm usually all about supporting the small businesses in small towns, but from now on, we'll just go to La Parilla for our Sunday Mexican Fix. read more

Griffin has a lot of Mexican Restaurants but this is the real deal. The owner is a great guy. The servers are personal and friendly. The food is great. The Carnitas are divine! The Margaritas are awesome. This restaurant is a regular for my wife and I. I personally think it's the best Mexican in Griffin. I had ordered dinner by phone tonight and the girl taking the order was so rude and screaming orders to the kitchen on the phone . I get home with my order and she didn't write it down right so I don't get the food I ordered. I called her back and she was again rude and loud screaming orders into the phone, I asked to speak to the manager and she hesitated and then said she was the manager so I explained that she got my order wrong. My favorite mexican restaurant in town! First of all, they have very light, crispy chips which are unbelievably addictive. These are served with 2 different types of salsa - a mild, very cilantro-y salsa, and a spicy blended salsa. Both are good! They have more variety and uniqueness on their menu than your typical local Mexican place. My favorite: Chilis Poblano. Two whole poblano peppers, stuffed with your choice of chicken, beef or cheese (I recommend the chicken) and a light sauce, fried, and topped with some sour cream sauce. YUM! Chilaquiles verdes are also good, sortof a chicken, cheese and salsa verde nachos dish. The enchiladas platter is good for variety. I do not recommend you order any salad except taco salad here, but then again, why would you? (A friend of mine did once, and the salad was gross, but I said, "What did you expect, ordering a salad at a Mexican restaurant?!") Fast service, friendly, and very clean. They do have a bar here, FYI. And you'll probably see somebody you know. read more

We frequent this restaurant as it is close by to our home, the owner / manager has always provided great service, and it was a consistent quick dinner. However the last couple of times we dined the food was less than mediocre. The beans last night were red and had a strange flavor. Please switch back to the previous style of beans or tastier refried bean would be even better. The red refrains beans are horrible in my opinion. Maybe others like the new style but we won't return if they continue to be served. I would normally give this restaurant 3.5 stars but under current conditions I can't provide more than two stars. read more

Do not go here if you just want to order cheese dip and a taco. Overpriced and you get half a bag of chips with a mini sauce size cup of salsa to go with a regular size cheese dip. Go to El Charro instead. I did not get enough chips to actually eat with the cheese dip and had to go to the store to buy more chips. Last time I will order from here, when asked about more chips to go with the cheese dip so we could at least eat all of the cheese dip with chips, they looked at me like I was crazy. Poor Customer service. El Charro will at least give you a large salsa and large bag of chips to go with your cheese dip. read more

I am from California and have eaten in many different Mexican restaurants from upscale to hole in the wall and I have to say that the food at El Toro measures up. The food is fresh - even the shrimp-, the menu goes beyond the predictable, and the service is really good. We eat at El Toro Loco at least once every two weeks. My only complaint is that they confuse ground beef with shredded beef. They have a new chunky guacamole and two types of freshly made salsa that are both really good. Oh, and their green sauce is to die for. I think those of us who eat there regularly and who are also foodies probably have a more realistic and reliable take on the restaurant. read more
