I thought it was just me but after reading the previous review, evidently this place has a problem with 'wet food'. My husband and I decided to try it tonight since it was Cinco De Mayo and we didn't feel like driving out of town. Started out alright but we ordered shrimp fajitas for two and a couple of fish tacos which were one of the specials. Well, I've had wonderful fish tacos in the past - in NY, in Charlotte, Southern California and Mexico. Not sure what these were supposed to be but they were nowhere near a fish taco. Chunks of some kind of fish (tasted like water) were served on SMALL, soggy tortillas and topped with shredded lettuce and sour cream. You could not even pick this thing up without it falling apart in your hands. Fish tacos btw are not usually made with 'chunks' of anything. The fajita dish did not come out sizzling. Shrimp, onions and peppers - why was I tasting water? Very bland. To make things worse, the tortillas that were meant for the fajitas were the same crappy dishrags that the fish tacos were slopped on - tasteless & SOGGY. I've never seen this in all my years of Mexican dining, but they served us these lousy tortillas wrapped in two logs of aluminum foil. When I unwrapped them they actually stuck to each other and fell apart at the same time. And they had a very weird taste and texture. It was impossible to do anything with them and overall were just plain unappetizing. Margaritas were also 'watered' down. I'm really disappointed since it would have been nice to have a good Mexican place close to home. $50. Waste of money. read more

These guys are doing Mexican food right. Everything on their menu was prepared quickly and properly. Service is excellent and prices are extremely reasonable. We have lunch there at least once a week and have never had a bad meal. read more

We were in town visiting for the weekend and saw this restaurant on YELP with great review. OMG WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. We arrived and the restaurant looked nice from the outside (and the inside.) We were seated promptly and greeted with chips and salsa. Which were great! We ordered a cheese dip to go with our chips. Also great! My husband ordered pollo con crema, which said chicken in a sour cream sauce. WRONG. it was pure sour cream with the nastiest seasoned chicken I have ever tasted. The only thing on his plate he could eat was rice and beans. I ordered the chicken fajita nachos. Which also had the nastiest seasoned chicken I have ever tasted on them. I was only able to eat the nacho chips that had cheese. No chicken. And to top it all off, our bill was $32 for food we couldn't eat. YUCK! read more

My first try of Mexican food since moving to the Carolinas from California. Not very impressed, I ordered the #6 combo which was 2 beef tacos (ground beef) and rice and beans. I've been looking for a good Mexican restraurant in Rock Hill and tried this place based off of the reviews. The staff was friendly and accomodating. I had the chicken taco salad and my friend had a huge black been burrito. The chips and salsa were good. Overall, no complaints. They were fast and the food was good. I will be back. read more

Very disappointed from previous reviews. Food very salty. Salsa salty. Margarita was small and taste like a mix. Sent it back and got top shelf. It taste some better. I have only been there once, so perhaps it has changed. On my girls night out, I ordered a fancy burrito that claimed to have mushrooms in it. There were no mushrooms in sight. In fact, my burrito resembled the normal burrito that is a few dollars cheaper. It was essentially a tortilla wrapped around sauced chicken. I was visiting Rock Hill, and El Tapatio was recommended to me. The food was great! I was surprised to find authentic Mexican-style tacos (not smothered in cheese and lettuce). I had the chorizo tacos and a draft beer (on special for $1!), my entire meal including tip was less than $10. Our server was very nice, he was busy and it took a while for him to bring the check, but other than that small detail this place was great. read more

El Tapatio is a new Rock Hill favorite. The waitstaff is friendly and prompt. The food is quite good, and definitely better than many other Mexican restaurants. The prices are reasonable. The food was very fresh tasting. Chips and salsa was on par with every other Mexican restaurant I had the Tacos De Asada off the lunch menu! Very Very Good, I recommend it. The portion size was good. The queso dip was not my favorite. It was kind of gritty. Hopefully that was a one time thing. That was my only complaint. The staff was very friendly and gave us the free desert (tortilla cinnamon whip cream thing). I will for sure be going back. read more

First of all, I love that this place has Dos Equis Amber on DRAFT alongside a few light beers to satisfy most, and serve draft beer in frosty mugs. What else to expect first thing in the door? A very traditional Mexican restaurant; servers often seem like family of the owner, everyone is courteous, they serve fresh warm chips with their salsa once they seat you. The food is excellent. I have been there on a Sunday afternoon when it was more busy, and on weeknights when it was slow; the food was still fresh and hot though. Enchiladas and fajitas come out sizzling on warm plates. Carnitas are one of my favorites to order in various dishes but also a gamble since its not as common as beef or chicken. Theirs tasted like it had slow-roasted, not an after thought or rushed out at all, very excellent. Their verde sauce and crema sauce dishes seem done well. Rock Hill has a handful of decent Mexican restaurant. I will continue to stop by here when I want a comforting Mexican meal and a beer or take out and hope they do well. read more

This restaurant serves the best Mexican food in Rock Hill. Best salsa, best ranchero sauce, best guacamole, best fajitas (chock full of veggies including caramelized onions and delicious mushrooms). The only complaint I have is that the male host and one of the male servers wear WAY too much cologne. I don't want to smell your cologne while I'm eating. My recent visit was my second time visiting the restaurant. I opted to stay away because during my initial visit, there was a HUGE language barrier between my server and me & other restaurants in RH have better food. Decided to go back as a friend wanted to go for her birthday for their margarita drink special. Ordered the burrito and they were nice in letting me substitute ingredients I didn't eat for others and the food was actually good this time around. The problem at hand was we shared our entire meal with added guests....FRUIT FLIES/GNATS! They were flying everywhere around food that caused us to excessively swat our entire meal! So low and behold we go to take a sip of our food and there is not one but two gnats swimming in our drinks. Took a closer look at our food and there gnats in our burrito sauce. Called the Manager and he goes don't worry about it we'll take care of it for you! Go to get our checks and he took 15% off of our meal! What is 15% off of a dining experience with flying creatures as table mates!! On top of that when you walk through the door they have a sign that says 10% off your meal when you pay with cash that wasn't given! When we asked about that we were told you have to ask for it! Don't post things on your door and advertise as a customary act your establishment does if you don't do it!! The manager was extremely unapologetic and was unconcerned that he had flies everywhere like that's normal! But what should I expect for a restaurant that stays EMPTY! And as far as I'm concerned will stay empty because they will never get another DIME from me and I will continue to tell everyone I know to not be a patron at this establishment! read more
