There are a lot of Mexican restaurants to choose from, and I'd say this is one of the better ones. Even though it's never super busy when I've been, the service is good, the food is great, and the prices are completely reasonable. Mexican food is one of those things for me that either I love it or I'm never coming back and writing a bad review about it, and this is one of them that I love and returned to several times. The flavors were authentic enough, and the salsa was suuuper good. read more

love it sooooo much my favorite Mexican restaurant in poplar bluff. I would go there any day of the week read more

El Tapatio in Cape is one of six locations in southeastern Missouri. Moving here from Phoenix, AZ where Mexican food was plentiful, glorious, and authentic, I have had a difficult time finding a Mexican restaurant in Cape that is satisfying. I have eaten here numerous times and I am a fan of this restaurant! The food is fresh and authentic and the service is prompt. Jorge, the manager at the Cape location warmly greets customers upon their arrival and is always nice and welcoming. This restaurant has a good atmosphere and bar. I had the honor of being the first customer to try the molcajete soup at the Cape G location. It is a mouthwatering, flavorful soup served in a piping hot stone bowl with a mix of meats, shrimp, green onions, and queso fresco deliciousness. I also love the Jalisco special with shrimp, beef, and chicken and lots of cheese sauce with rice! read more

My husband and I tried this last night for the first time and were not impressed. There wasn't necessarily anything wrong with the food but it just wasn't great. I wouldn't choose this over the other places in town. read more

Food was pretty good. Service was basic, not bad but not great either. Food portion was pretty nice size. If looking for a mexican place this one isnt to bad to go to. Chips and salsa were good. read more

Not impressed. Two of our tables' orders were messed up even after they double checked. The food wasn't bad but nothing special. Other Mexican places in town are much better. read more

Very authentic, tasty food & drinks. Super service & great prices. Very pleased with our lunch & experience. Will Definitely be back.

Gross... the quality of the food here has went down hill drastically over the past 3 years. I used to love this place. I cannot even eat here anymore. The quality of the meat and the cheese has changed, yet the prices are the same or have increased. Sad when restaurants do this. read more

Classic authentic Mexican food. Lengua wasn't on the menu, but it was available upon request. My take-out order also came with chips and salsa. - Like a bag so full of chips, it could hardly close. So fresh and so tasty! Definitely will be coming back again. read more

Really good experience. Service was top-notch. Very much attentive and friendly. Really like the buy one get one margarita happy hour. Both my husband and I enjoyed our food. If I had to say one negative, it would be that nothing sets this Mexican restaurant apart from all the others. read more

Best Mexican joint in town! Best Salsa! Best Margaritas! Best Service! If you like flavor and spice you MUST order the MACHO NACHOS!!! It's the best dish on the menu!!! read more

I always have a good experience with El Tapatio. I enjoy their service, as it is always quick and very accommodating. I enjoy their lunch specials as the prices on them are great and you get a lot of food for that great price. My only real issue is consistency in the taste of the food. Sometimes, its very flavorful whereas other times, it is very bland. That aside, El Tapatio is a good option off the beaten path in Cape and is worth checking out at least once. read more

My new favorite Mexican restaurant in Cape! Very clean, nice decor and great service. The food is great, the salsa is extra good! Ask for Antonio! :) read more

This place has the best Mexican food in town. All the locals I spoke to were in agreement and said to go here. They served an authentic queso blanco dip which is a must get appetizer. They also have huge portions for the entrees. We were completely stuffed upon leaving. They offer margarita specials every night and the margaritas were both good and strong. The service was quick and the waiter very friendly. The only thing that could have been improved was the fried ice cream. It was only so-so. I'm giving them a five-star review for being the best, authentic Mexican food in town but must say that the sub-par fried ice cream left me just a tad disappointed. read more

We had a group meal- they found a nice location for us. Fast service, good food and prices that made the boss happy. Enjoyable establishment. read more

Online they say they are open until 10pm and we walked in at 9pm and they told us to leave and that they were closed

Personally I do not feel as if the food had much taste and the salsa is way too chunky for my liking. It's as if they just diced the tomatoes instead of smashing them. read more

This place is amazing! Great prices for great food. They have a decent sized menu with plenty of options. Their burritos are delicious! Only complaint was that the guacamole tasted a little bland read more

El Tapatio is probably the best Mexican restaurant in Cape Girardeau. The prices are reasonable and the place is pretty clean. The salsa and cheese dip are both delicious and the chips are brought to the table warm. I've had the chimichanga, la gaviota, enchiladas, and several of the lunch specials. The service is good, as well. read more

We were visiting Cape Girardeau and decided to try El Tapitio based upon reviews on Yelp stating locals suggest going here. At 2:15 pm we arrived and the parking lot was surprisingly pretty full. Service was good and the food came out quickly. It was good and flavorful with nice sized portions. We would easily return if in the area again. read more
