Brand N Iron Bar and Grill - Huge side salad

Brand N Iron Bar and Grill

While visiting a friend in Ottawa, KS, we had dinner at Brand N Iron Bar and Grill (now named Brand…read moreN Iron Country Grill), a local favorite. We went on Saturday night and it was packed! We had to wait until guests left, but they are so quick in bussing tables that flow of guests were continuous. The ambiance was somewhat country/western style, the wall of "Brandings" of local Ranchers in the area was amazing, as if it was a tribute to them. Love the vibe, it was apparent to me that this was a very supporting community. Every customer that came in was known to the owners, if not, they were treated with very hospitable service. It wasn't too long that we are finally seated. We started off with drinks. While others had beer and fountain drinks, I had the Kansas Sunset Cocktail and it was very refreshing for the Hot Humid Kansas weather! Seeing that portions were huge, we passed on appetizers and went straight to the Main entrees. Ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich, Chicken Friend Steak Dinner, and the Barnyard Battle Dinner. Each came with 2 sides, their side salad was big, also came with 2 servings of crackers. We also got Mac & Cheese, and loaded baked potatoes as sides. Very generous with the butter for the baked potatoes, I also liked that the sour cream was Daisy, and it was individually wrapped too (my first time ever seeing sour cream like this)! Food was abundant and delicious! The Barnyard Battle is an excellent choice if you want to try both Roast Beef and Chicken Fried Steak. The Prime Rib was tender for the sandwich. I was so bummed that Prime Rib was only served on Thursdays. Hope the owners would consider making it a regular item on their daily menu. After that hearty meal, we were treated to slices of homemade apple pie (a la mode and served warn) and chocolate peanut butter pie which was shared by all of us. Those pies was a delicious way to top our dining experience. I was told it was the owner's mom's recipe, and it's a MUST have! Highly recommend if ever you find yourself on HWY 59 in Ottawa, KS! The restaurant may be easily missed from the highway because it's behind the Shell Gas Station. The parking lot is gravel but plenty. It also appears they are expanding the front outwards that you just have to go through it to get to the entrance. Special shout out to owners Aaron and Lindsay Nichols for their hospitality and keeping Brand N Iron Bar & Grill a great place for locals and non-locals to dine. :)

The way it should be. Menu has enough options to satisfy the whole family but the star of the show is steak and why mess around with other cut... get the ribeye. But... save room for dessert. Much of which is made by a grandma!!! Owner has been the couple of times I've been and make a point to remember you and make sure everything was excellent!

Food (taste, quality)- 5 Service-5…read more Value/cost-5 Cleanliness-5 Menu options-5 Came here for the first time while visiting from out of state. I love Mexican food and have it at least twice a week. El Patron has plenty of authentic dishes and accents. The restaurant is nicely decorated in Mexican decor. The menu has a lot of options! It was very hard to decide on one thing. They immediately brought out baskets of chips and cups of salsa. We ordered some guacamole. It was delicious. Very we made! I had a glass of sangria. It didn't have any fruit in it and but it was delicious. I settled on the lunch special chicken chimichanga. It came with refried beans and yellow rice. I was able to eat everything but 1/2 of the chimichanga. My daughter ordered the shrimp tacos. She said it was really good! My sister got the plate with 4 different kinds of tacos. She said they were delicious! It came with 4. She took two home. My sister in law got a small margarita and taquitos. She said they were really good. My brother got some French fries with beef strips and cheese on them. The kids shared a quesadilla. My portion of the bill, which was the two guacamole's, the shrimp tacos, the chicken chimichanga, the sangria and a coke, was $47 before tip. Not bad since we had enough leftovers for my husband to have an entire meal out of it. So, $47 for 3 people. The waiter was great and I tipped him 25%. They were very attentive to our large party of 10. They also have outdoor eating which looked really nice on a spring day. I will definitely be back!
