Ordered a dozen tamales from here for Christmas. They were so delicious I knew I had to visit the restaurant and try some of their other dishes. Came on a Sunday afternoon to a nearly empty restaurant and got seated immediately. Ordered horchata and enchiladas verdes and ny girlfriend ordered the enmoladas. The horchata was nice, though it wasn't fresh or homemade. I was mixed on the enchiladas verdes, since the rice, beans, and chicken tasted great. My only gripe was that the salsa verde was lacking in flavor and acidity I expect from a salsa. I got to taste the enmoladas and the sauce for that seems to be their signature. Delicious and complex. My girlfriend was very happy with her meal. I was also pleased to see that you can pre-order a dozen tamales a day ahead any time (not just seasonally) I will come back again, especially to pick up more tamales rojas and to try some other dishes read more

We ordered takeout and ordered a variety of items for a party. I am thrilled to see that they have tlacoyos in the menu. They were very good. It's also rare to see these "antojitos" in the menu. I also tried the milanesa and that was my favorite. Thin and lightly breaded. So good! The fajitas and taco salad were delicious, as well. The service was good and the atmosphere very colorful. We came here on a weekend night, and it wasn't crazy busy. Our server was very kind but definitely not very attentive or quick. We started with the an upgraded margarita, and it was absolutely not worth it at all. It tasted like pure sugar -- and this was the upgraded tequila... assuming there was tequila in it because it really didn't taste like it. I can usually work up a buzz with a decent sized margarita, but felt absolutely nothing after this one, and I'm not even sure I finished it (very unlike me). We then ordered tacos, which were fine but definitely not that great. There are other places nearby that I'd go to instead for tacos but I wouldn't be upset about eating another taco from here, either. I did miss the pineapple in the pastor tacos, but everyone has their own style. I've heard great things about their original location, so maybe this is just some growing pains with a new and much larger space. Check it out and decide for yourself! read more

First time coming here since they've opened this location. I really enjoyed the decor within this location, you can truly feel like you're in Mexico. The location in general was very big with plenty of seating. The portions of food were good and even the sides that you can order were good in amount. The waiter took care of us very quickly and made sure to check in every so often. I loved their Aguas Frescas (Fresh Juice). The only downside was the amount of options for food. However that can be to the fact that they also offer a buffet within the location. read more

First time at the new El Sabor De Paula on Northport Dr. in Madison. It was lunchtime when a friend and I visited and there weren't a lot of people so service was fast and waitress was pleasant and attentive. The tortilla chips were crisp and thicker so they didn't break in the salsa. The salsa itself was a departure from the usual diced tomato-based salsa of most restaurants. I'm not sure what was in the light brownish-red salsa except there were shreds of cilantro in it and it was a unique and flavorful departure from usual fare. I love mole since being introduced to it in San Diego over 30 years ago and it is very hard to get here. There are three mole dishes on the menu and they are right up front so you can't miss them. The mole is made in house so it really tastes authentic. I had the mole con pollo which came with two very tender and juicy chicken legs smothered in amole sauce reminiscent of La Fiesta in San Diego and Rick Bayless's Topolobampo in Chicago. The rice was flaky with a flavor that didn't fight with the mole. The refried beans were not pasty like those canned varieties and were surprising light and not mushy. The lime Jarritas soda was a good counterpoint for it all. My friend tried the Burrito Poblano for his first experience with mole. The HUGE burrito is large enough for two to share and was filled with chicken but comes with a variety of proteins and veggies. He loved it. We'll definitely bring the wives to try this great addition to Mexican fare in Madison. Prices are reasonable, portions are large and service was great. The only problem was they were out of tres leches cake. Another reason to go back. read more

The new place that was formerly Benvenutos on Northport dr. Authentic Mexican food that is very good. I had enchiladas verde which was three enchiladas made with green tortillas and a green sauce. It was tasty and had a few pieces of Jalapeño mixed in for a bit of heat. For sixteen dollars it was more than I could eat and came with the usual rice and beans. My partner has a chicken burrito that was huge and very good as well. You do get complimentary chips and salsa while you're waiting. The wait staff was friendly and spoke perfect English so you can modify your food the way you want it. No avocados for me! It's still a big dining area and the bar has not been changed. The imported booths are beautiful and the decor very well done. It was not busy at noon on a Friday and I hope they can make a go of it. It's a big place to fill. There is still not a sign on the outside of the building but there is on the door. Give it a try. We need more places on this side of town. read more

My son, a chef, wanted to try the mole, and we were not dissapointed! We went to the Northport location, and the place is very spacious, with nice decor. It looked very clean. The booths are large and fit our party of 6 comfortably. The menus were already on the table (it was hard to decide what to order with all the yummy choices), and the server immediately brought chips and salsa and glasses of water, with a small glass and straw for the 4-year-old in our group. She was very polite and patient while taking our orders. She brought a highchair for the baby. The drinks we ordered came right away. The food came a short time later, and it was amazing! Very large plates. Everyone got exactly what they ordered and it was delicious! The best mole my son and I have ever had! The server checked on us a few more times. I noticed the restroom was very clean also. The checkout was easy, with a modern keypad using 'tap to pay' and with suggested tip amounts. All in all, a great experience. I highly recommend!
