Always a pleasure to dig through the bins and find hidden treasure. The store is the best of the Remate locations in and around El Paso.

I decided to check out their Socorro location, not realizing it was part of a chain with more stores closer to the west side of El Paso. I'm so glad I made the trip! The store itself is clean, bright, and well-organized--kind of a mix between Dollar Tree and Daiso, with a wide variety of products at very reasonable prices ranging from $1 to $40, especially for larger items like grills and discadas. What really impressed me was the selection and quality of items. They carry everything from kitchen gadgets to outdoor equipment, and I found some great deals--like a propane grill I usually get at Korean stores, but for a much lower price. I also loved their bamboo section, which was super affordable and well-stocked. The plastic organization items were of better quality than those at Dollar Tree, and I even picked up a broom and dustpan that were sturdy and useful. There were plenty of associates available, all super helpful and quick to assist, which made shopping a breeze. They were busy putting things back in place, and the store felt super clean and well-maintained. While I didn't have time to explore the makeup section, it looked promising. One thing I would advise is not to bring kids unless you're prepared for a little chaos (I learned that the hard way, haha). We ended up spending about $50, and it was a fun and successful little shopping trip. The best part is that unlike Daiso, where everything is in Japanese, I could actually understand what the products were for, which made the shopping experience more straightforward. If you're in the area or even closer to the west side, I'd highly recommend checking out GMD Stores. It's a great place for some good finds at great prices. Oh, and by the way, I asked several employees what "GMD" stands for, and none of them seemed to know--maybe a mystery to solve for another visit!

The particular just-past holiday was Halloween, and the particular discounted (70%!) item was a "haunted phone", which gives goulish sounds/comments/etc. The purpose for this purchase was to be a prize for our students/families at a Fall festival next year. Walgreens is a wonderful source of food/energy, passport photos, dark chocolate, numerous items beyond drugs, and, of course, cash. This 5-star establishment certainly has my "Wheel of Approval!"

Primark at Cielo Vista Mall - First Impressions…read more I hadn't stepped into Cielo Vista in ages, but curiosity got the better of me when I saw all the ads for Primark, one of the mall's newest (and biggest) stores. It's tucked upstairs in the corner with its own bright, welcoming entrance, and honestly, it feels like a cross between H&M and Old Navy. What Stood Out The store is huge with wide aisles and tons of associates ready to help. They carry everything--clothes for men, women, kids, bras, beauty products, shoes, home goods, even luggage. Prices are undeniably cheap. I snagged a pair of pants for $10 and a jacket for $20. Not the best quality, but perfect for refreshing basics or quick trends. Shopping Experience The checkout system was... interesting. You pick between regular or self-checkout, and while they charge for bags, there are free paper ones hidden at the bottom if you look closely. On the way out, you scan your receipt at a gate before leaving. Very different setup compared to other retailers. Overall Vibe Primark is fast fashion through and through. If you need affordable, on-trend clothing in a pinch, it delivers. But if you care about longevity or sustainability, you may find the quality lacking. Personally, I don't usually shop fast fashion because of how quickly it ends up in landfills--I prefer secondhand--but I wanted to check it out. Would I go back? Maybe if I needed a quick, budget-friendly piece. But for me, it felt a lot like items I could just order online from Amazon. Still, for El Paso shoppers who love variety at low prices, this store is going to be a hit.
