My favorite sit down restaurant I've been to in Montemorelos. The three other times I've been here…read morewere excellent experiences from drinks to appetizers to entrees to desserts. They have limited indoor seating and a ton of outdoor seating, but usually not too busy on a weekday night. Had a bit of a mixed experience on food this time around - Chamorro De Cantina - their house special pork shank. Meat falls off the bone. Guacamole a la Mexicana - can't go wrong with guac Paella Valenciana - house special paella - I liked the flavor but the seafood was a bit overcooked Rib Eye - a nicely seasoned steak on a bed of green bell peppers and onions with well done thick cut fries. Nothing special but it's a solid dish. Enchiladas Suizas - thought this was ok. I just tried half of one and it was quite doughy.

This unassuming bistro is one of the best surprises I've experienced while traveling for business…read morein Montemorelos. The service is impeccable, kind, and the restaurant is cozy, being located in the owners' home's backyard. Apparently, backyards were always built larger than the home itself so that families could often get together and eat, play, and hang out together in the comfort of their own space. This restaurant has literally opened up their backyard/home space to serve the best seafood tacos I have ever eaten. Coming from California and having done my fair share of traveling throughout the US including Texas, NY, SoCal, Arizona, Illinois, and internationally, this place takes the cake with its tacos. Since everything is made from scratch, it does take a while so don't expect to grab and go, this place is made for a relaxing lunch away from it all. You'll be surrounded by trees and greenery. The furniture isn't the sturdiest, but you'll be dining on some of the freshest, tastiest food in Mexico under the shade of avocado and palm trees. We got quite a few items last time we went, but I still dream of the food here. Their corn tortillas are made of heaven - they're perfectly tender, a surprising amount of flavor considering they're corn tortillas, and don't fall apart like so many other corn tortillas do when you use them as carriers of deliciousness. Their toppings are SO simple, literally just the freshest of salsa, a slice of avocado, and their own homemade green sauce. The protein itself, I can't even describe. The stars are the fish tacos and the pulpo (octopus) tacos - they're both made to perfection. And the combination of all the flavors are insanely delicious. They come three tacos in an order and while you might not think that'll be enough, it is, they're huge and they're filling. If you're in the area looking for some local, fresh food, this is your ticket to heaven!
