A first rate small town restaurant.
Not in town but out by the connecting roads -
Which makes it more convenient for people to come in from the nearby factories.
Draws a good lunch crowd.
A dynamite veal stew first course.
The veal almost tasted like Brazilian charque - one of their alternative bacons.
Full of flavor.
A "well aged" fried fish.
I am learning not to agonize too much over "fish freshness".
A good strong fish tastes fantastic fried.
The star of the show was a coffee flan.
I don't think too much of flan.
But this had more coffee flavor to it than does a Starbucks espresso.
(Yeah yeah yeah, that's a low standard. But the flan really did stand up and speak for itself.)

One tech footnote.
I had little doubt as we left the restaurant, that one of the cook's little secrets was MSG.
MSG freaks Americans out.
A lot of the rest of the world thinks we are nuts.
I am coming in line with the rest of the world on this one.
I have no doubt that the bold wonderful tastes I had in lunch were MSG enhanced.
And it was one great great great lunch.
There is a lot of hidden taste out there that we are missing.
Taste is good. read more
