We stopped in for dinner from being on the road for most of the day. Greeted right away and seated immediately. Food was very good and served lightening fast. Our server was attentive and friendly which matters! I'd recommend to anyone who is looking for authentic Mexican food.

The prices are a little higher than most Mexican places I have visited. However, the portions are generous and the quality of the food is excellent. I also had the top shelf Margarita and it was great too. It cost 12.99, but they were running a 10% off special for it. The service was also good. The decor is odd for a Mexican place with rustic chairs and tables that would be at home in a country themed restaurant. There was a light fixture that gave Vegas vibes . Overall we had a great experience, but found it pricey compared to similar restaurants.

Small queso dip

Service was amazing, from the greeting as I entered to the final bill. Ordered the house Margarita on the rocks, a bit sweet, but tasty. Next received chips and salsa. Ordered queso dip small, very liquid, would have liked it a bit more thick and smooth. Finally, had the Steak Street tacos on flour tortillas, absolutely tasty. Side of black beans also got the spot. Very nicely decorated, clean, and classy. Pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended.

Birthday dessert

I love this place so much! I discovered it with my daughter and mom and have recommended all my friends here! My fiancé even proposed to me there because I made my profile pic from there on the dating app we met on. Every time I eat here, I get pics with who is with me by was I call Mr. Jalapeño. The food is amazing, service is awesome and the people are so friendly.

Burrito Al Carbon

Tonight we celebrated my mother in laws birthday and had never visited El Maguey before. We were pleasantly surprised. This restaurant sits in a small shopping strip that I've passed by many times but never really paid much attention to what was in it. Upon our arrival, we walked into a very welcoming and inviting atmosphere and were immediately seated. The restaurant was very nice and tidy, the waiters were very helpful and informative of the menu. I had the Burrito Al Carbon which included shrimp, chicken, sautéed onions, queso and salsa. I hope I'm not leaving anything out. It was delicious. We also had a large bowl of queso to share with the family. Their drinks are served in mini pitchers which my husband was happy about. We will definitely return!

California Burrito - so good!

Anthony was our waiter tonight, and he was very attentive and cheerful. I had the California burrito and it was absolutely delicious! My husband has the Pollo ala Crema, and he was very impressed. He has not been able to find that in Kentucky. We definitely will recommend this place to our friends and family. We hope to be back soon!

I absolutely loved it! First time here came in for business and this place was recommended by the hotel staff! It didn't disappoint at all! I will definitely hit this place again before heading home!

Steak and shrimp fajitas

This is our preferred spot for Mexican food. The food is great and the restaurant is always clean. We went on a Saturday and they had live music that wasn't overwhelming (acoustic guitar), I also couldn't believe how great the staff was at singing happy birthday - a band came out with a violin and guitar to sing to a few birthday tables. My kids love the games they have (tic tac toe, connect 4, cornhole) though we never have to wait for a table. My husband got the steak fajitas and it was mostly meat - not peppers and onions like some restaurants. We always enjoy ourselves when we eat here.

Just passing through and close to hotel. Food was very good and margaritas definitely had a kick. Would come back if I pass through again.

Love this place downtown Shelbyville. A very neat downtown area. Parking is usually an issue but…read moretoday it wasn't. This is probably my third or fourth trip in. There are two entrances one in the front and the rear entrance where there is an outdoor eating patio area. Way too cold for that. Neat historical building. Seated immediately as they do a great job of getting you in and out. This is a local hangout and just a great place downtown to have a business lunch. Felt like trying something new and this had the "new" label on it. It was enormous. Way more than I could handle. Contains shrimp, scallops, chicken and chopped steak. The cactus leaves were delicious. It was delicious but more of a two serving dish. Good date night meal. The chips were crispy and the salsa is also great. The sweet tea was also amazing.

The music was so loud I could not have a conversation with my partner. To make matters worse, there was a small vacuum being used. They had only been open for 40 minutes! Could the cleaning have been done BEFORE you opened as not to disturb your guests? Please as managers, sit at a booth with this going on and see if you need to adjust the music and stop vacuuming during open hours. Get a broom. Too much. I do enjoy this restaurant and really look forward to going each time. Not anymore.

Tumbleweed Tex Mex Grill 4255 Outer Loop…read more Louisville , KY 40219 1/21/26 We decided to go to the Tumbleweed on the Outer Loop. Wednesday's Special is a half pound Cheeseburger with a side. My husband chose Waffle Fries to go with his Cheeseburger and I had Refried Beans. Their unsweet iced tea was terrific. Our server was going to be Victoria. We were seated in the bar section of the restaurant. She was at our table before I could get my coat off, she was so quick. She took our drink orders and brought them immediately. We also asked for chips and queso. We really enjoyed the yellow Queso. She brought our burgers out and they were so good. They were cooked perfectly, the buns were really good. I took the lettuce and tomato that I had put on the side and turned it into a salad. I really enjoyed the refried beans and my husband thought his waffle fries were perfect. It was about 6:00 when we got there. It was bitter cold that night, but the restaurant was warm. They have a door that opens into a foyer that keeps the restaurant from getting cold. They are open til 10:00. They have a lot of Door Dash/Uber drivers that come and do pick ups. They also have a carry-out pick up door on the left side of the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and very spacious. The staff was so nice and we met Chris, the GM. Victoria was really sweet, was very efficient and checked on us a lot. She brought me an iced tea to take with me and brought me a box to take the rest of my food home. The restaurant volume was low. They had TVs with closed captions. Their main entrance to the restaurant was a long ramp on the side of the building. There were also steps on the front of the building too. Plenty of parking for handicapped and traditional cars.
