Best cigar lounge I've been to on the west coast since I moved from Miami. Most definitely best hand rolled you can get in Southern California. The hospitality is amazing. Extremely helpful service from the owner! Just started getting into cigars and the owner took his time explaining all the types and how to properly enjoy the cigars! Didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't want, just everything I asked for. I am extremely new so it was helpful learning how to cut a cigar and smoke it while telling me things to enjoy with the cigar. This is the best cigar shop around K-town without a doubt. The cigars are hand rolled and organized into the different types of shapes and blends. The store can be a bit more cleaner and organized. It's a bit too small for my taste with a narrow lobby area that can barely fit 6 people. It's dark and kind of cluttered inside. It had a lonely vibe to it. Aside from this, Leon is a great stop-n-go cigar shop for the works. The prices are eye catching at about $5-10 and theres a great amount of supply. I'm back! I went here in '95, when I first landed in LA. A friend took me, the old man was running the place, the Koreatown neighborhood was quiet and the cigars were wonderful. Then I got busy and forgot about it, forgetting the name and misremembering the street. And really, after all those years, the shop had to have closed. This is LA, where as Steve Martin showed us in LA STORY "Some of these houses are TEN years old!" Well, time has passed, the old man has passed, but Lorenzo is now running the joint and employing the old man's cigar rollers to make 'em so you can smoke 'em when you get 'em. Thank God! Lorenzo reconfigured the place so there's a cozy smoking lounge, shotgun-style, when you come in. Counter in the back. Makes you feel like the old days, smoking and chatting. Might be LA, might be Miami in the '50s. But it's all good. Thanks for carrying the torch (or torch lighter :), Lorenzo. I won't forget anymore. read more

Stopped by on a friends recommendation. This is a no frills spot but that makes it unique. Was helped by Lorenzo whom I shared my previous labels with. He showed me his handmade stock and recommended 4 sticks. A corona, a box press torpedo, double robusto and gran corona. Smoked the corona on my drive back to east Los and was extremely pleased with the quality, taste, construction and aroma of this stick. Later the same nite I endulged in the double robusto and am now a fan. Will definitely recommend this place and return to try the other sizes and blends. read more

I really wanted to meet Gilberto, but unfortunately he passed away a few months ago. His wife decided to keep the store open and i'm glad she did. I dropped by to pick up some cigars as gifts for my groomsmen as a small token / thank you. The shop is tiny and i mean so tiny that you could probably only have 2 customers inside. The cigars are innexpensive compared to other joints. They carry up to 11 different types of cigars and they all run under $5.50 I ended up buying a dozen cigars for a total of less than $45. Currently they only take cash and the young guy behind the counter was really nice and explained each cigar thoroughly. Shipping is available too. Leon Cigar shop is one of the best kept secrets in all of Los Angeles in a part of town you wouldn't expect. This place is a family run cigar shop continued on from generations straight from Cuba. Cigars are great tasting and come in different sizes. The people are friendly and take exception to quality. You can't get these cigars yet expect for this shop that I know of. Marie runs the shop. I happened to be in Koreatown today, and I heard about this place while I was researching where I could pass the time. As opposed to going to the typical cigar bar, i decided to come here. After all, the history and the authenticity of the place really sold me. I showed up, and just like all the reviews said, the place is small. Nothing fancy. No cutters, no lighters. Just the cigars they make. I ended up getting the Centra size, and since they were only $3.25, i bought 10. I was skeptical until I lit one up at the local starbucks. Great taste, burns evenly, and it had that freshly rolled look and feel which definitely made a difference. Just to make sure, I lit one up on the long ride home and the next cigar was equally good. I think I've found my new everyday smoke. read more

"No Longer Rolled In House" So, for years I've bought my cigars on-line from Mike's and Thompson's or other out of the area cigars sellers on-line that are states away from me. I ran across "Leon's Cigars" in Los Angel via Yelp and had to check him out. The idea that I could buy some fresh "hand made" cigars that were made "on the premises" sounded very interesting to me, so I drove over on a day off to see what's going on...BUT that was then!! Now.... as of Nov..2013, I went in today and asked the man, "which cigars are made on the premises here?" and he told me that they "NO LONGER MAKE THEM HERE, WE HAVE THEM MADE IN THE Dominican Republic." "Why the change" I asked, and he said it was "just a business decision." So now I can't recommend this shop any more. If they don't make them there, then there's nothing special about the place anymore. I do give him credit, he could of lied to me and pointed out some and said they were made here. It's nice if you in mid-Wilshire Korea town and need some cigars, but other than that, it's a real, real.. real small shop with a glass counter and lobby about the size of 10 x 10. No reason to drive out of my way anymore. read more
