Unless you are a vegetarian, go for the chicken. The chicken is so soft and flavorful and the enchiladas have the perfect seasoning. The cheese, carrots, potatoes all are such simple but powerful additions to the dish that you cannot help but almost lick your empty plate within minutes. The pickled jalapeños and carrots that are served on each table are so delicious and the jalapeños have such a nice kick to complement this dish. I also ordered the hibiscus juice, which honestly has such a large serving and is a must here! The place does get crowded at around 7pm with a line, especially since there are not that many seats. After almost an hour wait (trust me it is worth it), I was seated. If you come alone or with just one person, chances are, you will be sitting with strangers and making friends as you eat.

A breakfast set comes with fruit, a baby pancake, coffee and juice, and your choice of entree. I had the tortilla espanola with goat cheese and caramelized onion; this is a Spanish-style potato and egg omelette/casserole. It was downright dang amazing! It was a hefty portion and I had them pack my leftover for me to take to the airport afterwards because no way was I wasting a crumb of that!!! Also on the recommendation of our Airbnb host, we both tried the Boing! juice in mango and it was delicious. It's made with real fruit, so there's nothing artificial in it. Well worth a taste! i was walking by and heard great jazz and decided to stop into this small, attractive…read morebar/restaurant in the centro area of guanajuato. there were four tables and a nice bar and two of the tables were occupied by couples having lunch and beers. the musicians were great fun, playing a sax and guitar and old 1940s and 50s jazz. the owner and another man took care of serving. i had a shot of mezcal and 2 ice-cold beers. the owner asked which mezcal i liked and, since i'm fairly new to the drink, told him i'd like something "grassy." he brought over four bottles for me to take a whiff of and i found one i liked. the prices were low, common for the area...around $150 pesos for two modelos and the shot. (around $7 u.s.d.). i was there for about an hour and had a great time. the people next to me had a soup full of vegetables and corn on the cob, which looked awesome and, with the kitchen open to the main area, i could see it cooking on the stove. as an aside, if you're an art lover, there's a very interesting mural in the kitchen that's worth making the trip over for. the back bar is a beautiful carved dark wood with several stools and an etched glass display behind the bottles. this is a down-to-earth, few frills place to hang out and have a few drinks and maybe luck out and hear some great music. no cover charge, i swear.
