Good selection of beers, but it can get pricey. The last time I came here, there was a family of roaches roaming around. It wasn't cute.

Bar de Pisco is a small yet modern bar with a cozy vibe in Cerro Alegre. If you make your way here, I recommend the Apiado, it is the cocktail they are best known for - a meticulously made cocktail with fresh mashed celery, lemon juice, simple syrup, crushed ice and pisco distilled twice. The bartender is the Maradona of Pisco -- he literally knows all there is about Pisco. He can help you chose the perfect cocktail to start your night depending on what you are in the mood for - savory or sweet. The staff is super nice as they joke around all night and are full of interesting conversations and stories to keep your night entertaining. I recommend sitting at the bar because the bartender will give you the good "insider tips" on where to go in Valpo and what to see. You may also want to try the variety of artesian pisco shots. You can setup your own pisco tasting with different types of pisco from all over Chile. Plus, the bartender will patiently explain where each pisco comes from and its different flavors of the pisco you have chosen. If pure shots aren't your style, the menu is filled with all different types of cocktails (all made from pisco -- even some including merkén and miel de palma!) Tip: The menu is always changing based on the season, so what you had last year might not currently be on the menu -- but always ask even if you don't see it! There is very limited seating (the bar can probably sit around 20 people and mostly at the bar) They open at 7:30pm every day, so this is a great place to come with friends after a long day of exploring Valpo.

We have just been raving about it since we tried it. The menu was small but the food was fantastic and delicious. My girlfriend ordered a cheese pasta (spaetzleteig) that had onions, bacon, and came with a well-dressed salad. I ordered the most juicy, delicious pork chop with potatoes. The beers that you were serving that night were so epic that we still relish them and wish they could be bottled, exported or delivered right to our door, though we understand now thanks to your great explanation that they can't. They would not be as epic. One was a heavenly liquor of the gods, with a malty, sweet, balanced character that warmed the heart with its 7.5% alcohol. The other, a flirty, delivishly bready wheat beer that was light and refreshing as well as tasty. Also, the ambiance was friendly and really neat. The restaurant is in a very cool trendy neighborhood. We liked the money tree inside and the decorations, as well as your rough-cut wooden tables and hilarious stone chess board set. The projector Tv playing the Copa America games was the perfect finishing touch to a wintery night in Valparaiso, where a few locals among random study-abroad students could delight in unison in your beer and food.
