It looks like a Victorian era style with the wide checkered floors and moody dark tone interior. All to say, the ambiance is a chíc. The food was delicious and paired well with the local red wine was a little sweet and light, Cabernet. The ribeye steak Chileneo cut was delicious with just a little bit of fat skin but not enough for it be annoying to eat around. The pork slaughter was perfectly cooked and tender. The corn side dish was delicious as well. The octopus... if you like seafood this is a must!

The back patio area at Casaluz is dreamlike and absolutely gorgeous: after a long day of walking in the hot Santiago sun, a few pisco sours in the garden was nothing short of pure bliss. The cocktails are extraordinary and made with obvious understanding and expertise; even the most basic and common drink here is superb. The food at Casaluz is current, and they put a lot of thought into presentation. Ingredients are fresh and diverse, and their salads are especially enticing. Because they offer tapas, you can sample a wide range of flavors, but the croquetas de jamon Ibérico were my favorite dish. An absolute gem that delivers on service, food, drinks, and especially ambiance. A must if you're in Santiago!

Middle of the afternoon, not many people inside - decided to sit at the bar so we wouldn't be forgotten. Once the first bartender realized our Spanish-ineptitude, the second bartender handed us a couple of English menus to make our lives easier. To start off, got the Caipirinha ($4.500pesos) - a strong rum/lime/sugar concoction that is actually refreshing on the warmer days. For a snack, shared the Rioja-Style Potatoes Tortilla ($5.200pesos) - a thick omelet in a quiche-style format with potatoes and sausage stuffed inside. Overpowering flavor of egg and a bit oily, but easy to eat and delicious filling. Food and drink took a little while to come out, though we weren't really in a hurry. Cool spot overall; glad we stopped by.

Who can argue with that fantastic view. The food here definitely something to rave about. The ceviche was of great portions and you could taste how fresh the fish and shrimp were. My wife twice ordered the salmon tartar.... I'm literally shaking my head right now thinking of how fantastic it was. That dish is literally a foodies dream with every bite and every taste bud that the flavors indulge. I would recommend getting to this spot mid-day after lunch, but before the happy hour rush to get a seat on the terrace. Come prepared with a light jacket as well to knock the chill despite it being 80 degrees towards the end of summer. If I ever return to Valpa, this restaurant is the FIRST stop on my list. Don't miss out!
