This is a department store that has a gourmet floor with high-end food. Super expensive when compared with other restaurants/cafes. We only had a couple of cakes and they were delicious. This review is about the food hall style super markets that seem to be in the basement of all their stores. The upper floors look to be good high end shopping, but I only passed by. It's good for you waistline and your wallet not to eat every meal at a restaurant. Some of the all you can eat breakfast buffets at hotels are particularlyiendl diet dangerous. All those cheeses, meats, pastries and eggs are too tempting when you've already paid. I take the breakfast add-on option when it's available. Finding diet friendly fruits, vegetables and the like in tourist friendly small pre-cut versions was pretty easy in Madrid and Barcelona. Much less so around In the Barrio Santa Cruz area in Seville. Think chips, cakes, coke, and energy drinks. The market here had it all all, in multiple varieties and sizes. I found everything I couldn't find in the little bodegas. Note that over on less tourist oriented Treana side of the river the situation is very different. read more

I passed by El Corte Ingles everyday during my Weekend in Seville. But I did not realize there are 3 different buildings spread out in the near immediate walking distance. I ended up looking for the said "Supermarket" and never found it?! They do have a nice food hall at the top floor that specialized in gourmet food! The main floor has an area that carries all Seville's souvenir. I also went to another building that sells books and electronics. I just fail in locating the Supermarket?! Sort of the Macy's of Spain, e.g. the classic department store experience with housewares, mens, womens and childrens clothing on various floors. Awesome service though: no shortage of staffing to help with try ons and purchases. The really awesome part is the basement level: many vendors of sweets, Jamón Ibérico, olives, a sandwich shop, coffee shop as well as a decently sized grocery store. read more

On thé 5th floor of this department store UA fantastic food court with a branch in f the restaurant Manolo Leon. The server ce was excellent and the food featured the best produce of the season. I had a delicious grilled artichoke appetizer and their catch of the day-- a tuna belly filet grilled on the outside and rosy inside. The black rice on the side was flavorful and cooked "Al denté". My friend enjoyed a wonderfully sauced salmon with citrus. Portions were large but we had to indulge in dessert -- a mousse cake for me and chocolate truffles for her. Take a break from shopping, visit the gourmet food collection, then enjoy a fabulous meal! read more

Nice place to browse around. We found official Madrid Football Jerseys (Soccer to me) for gifts. On the top floor of all the El Corte Ingles we visited had several small restaurants ( Similar to a food court with tables) to order food. Everyone was happy with their meals. read more

Excellent place! Needed to buy clothes quickly because Iberia lost my luggage. Opens late during week (10:00 am) but service level of this store is impeccable. Very good shopping experience, whether you are in a hurry like I was, or if you want to take your time. Store has excellent products and brands. read more

Love the town of Seville and the department store El Corte Inglés. Less than ten minute walk from 'mercado lonja del barranco'. I didn't care much for the clothing here but the rooftop terrace and gourmet food court FTW. A nice view of the Giralda Tower and Old Town. It's also pretty close walking distance to the Waffle Cone (Metropol Parasol) for further views. read more

I can't say enough great things about Corte Ingles. - The clothes and general shopping is awesome. - The fact that is well air conditioned in the summer in Sevilla is superb. - The bathrooms - as well as the entire store - is immaculate. - The fifth floor "Gourmet Experience" is sublime. Great tapas, sweets (macaroon with gelado, anyone? like nothing I have EVER eaten!). I lived up there for the two weeks I was in Spain. Great for a quick snack or meal (otherwise almost impossible in this town) with a view that can't be beat and super-fast free Wi-Fi. - The basement grocery store is the best supermercado I found in the city. They have a special produce section where you can't handle the items yourself - someone from the store helps. Go there and try the Canary Island bananas and the dates from Iran. To die for! - One fateful day I lost my wallet. The awesome help from the tourist desk helped me find it! Nothing like the fear of losing your wallet 2,000 miles from home and then the joy of finding it!! Corte Ingles - you saved my life for my two-week stay in Sevilla. Dodge the woman spritzing perfume near the escalator. And avoid the makeup kiosks. Just remain focused and walk briskly toward the downstairs escalator. That's where the 'supermercado' is. It's where Trader Joes meets Whole Foods (e.g. most fruit comes pre-packaged which is very TJs, but there are little stations to buy fish, meat, bread, etc. which is very WF) with a dash of CVS (you can buy all of your shampoos, conditioners, lotions, etc. at El Corte Ingles). Corte Ingles is not exactly cheap, but it's nice to get everything you want in one spot, and if you're feeling concerned - as I often am - about maintaining a steady supply of sweets, El Corte Ingles won't disappoint with its extensive chocolate and cookies aisles. Do be aware that, at least with produce, many of the food comes bagged in large quantities - you can't buy one lemon or two apples. Also, be aware that the main time to shop seems to be evenings - so if, like me, you prefer to wander around in the quiet of the store, opt for early afternoon when it's nearly empty. Finally, be aware that the service can be brusque; on my first visit, I swiped my credit card as my order was being rung up, as we often do at home, and the cashier started yelling at me. "Sorry," I replied in Spanish, "I'm new here! I didn't know." Tip: You have to pay for shopping bags- so either bring your own plastic bag or be prepared to pay a nominal fee. Tip2: You are supposed to bag your own groceries- and at a fairly rapid pace. If you are shopping with a friend or a loved one, remember: it's all about team work. read more

Went to buy pair of boots from Panama Jack - they don't ship/sell internationally. When in Spain... However, there was one salesman in the shoe department, and he could not be bothered with me. The one salesman in the Camper area, who was not busy, apparently could not assist the lone shoe guy. In his defense, he was alone. And shoes were semi busy. So I waited. Knew my (European) shoe size. Kept getting the finger of "uno momento." Without the "por favor." He seemed to revel in his ability to not handle more than one customer at a time. When he started taking care of customers who arrived after me, I again tried to get his attention. No good. When I finally got his attention, instead of selling me the shoes, he loudly and rudely complained about being alone and my impatience, and turns to another recently arrived customer. And then avoided me to attend to rather more recent arrivals. Ended up waiting 45 minutes to not buy a pair of shoes. He does not have my sympathy or euros. read more
