Doesn't look very big. But they have great food. We went kind of early. So we got served right away. We finished eating and ordered tacos to go for my son. That took a little bit longer. But wasn't too long at all. I wish I knew about this place sooner. We have been trying to find a good Mexican restaurant, both my husband and I would like, for years. This is the first one we both liked. I'd suggest everyone try this place. read more

Tacos are good!! Service was slow, we got greeted instantly and the server didn't come back for about 20 minutes. Good weekly specials

I know my mexican food, so when I go somewhere the bar is set pretty high. This place met and exceeded my expectations! Great service, everyone was so courteous and I ate more than I should have! There's 2 things to do in Joliet, go race at Autobahn Country Club and eat good food at El Comal! Orale! read more

El Comal - Always comes with chips and salsa! - Mexican Near Me - Rockdale, Illinois

Very disappointed, the steak was not asada. No matter how much limón or salsa we put on the tacos it did not make a difference. I do not recommend this place and who doesn't have horchata in a taqueria?! read more

I very much enjoy this place! I can never decide what to get, because everything here is so good! Wednesday is $1 taco day. WOOTWOOT. Downfall is they only take cash, but they have an ATM! read more

Best Huaraches in the area! Served with caramelized onions and a serrano pepper. Plenty of meat in it (cilantro onions). Also, the sopes are good too! Cash only read more

I'm going to preface this by saying this is a review of their carry-out tacos because I haven't had anything else from there. This place is good. Really good. Like, really really good. The tacos are cheap ($1 Wednesdays!) but on the smaller side, which is fine. I get three tacos and it's enough for a thinner adult male. And believe me when I say their chicken is their best meat. All the meat is good, but the chicken is especially good and has just a slight spice to it that you don't even notice until halfway through your second taco. The only gripe I have with this place, and it isn't a gripe with this place really but, is that the woman who works the phone/register doesn't speak very good English. It's passable, and I get my orders in, but when you're trying to order 40 tacos, the language barrier becomes pronounced. But, I'm not going to knock any stars because the food really is that good. If you go here be aware they only take cash! read more

Some of the worst service I have seen in the restaurant industry. The servers just wander around and do nothing. Try to pay for you meal? Even harder! Everyone working needs some customer service training. I have heard of alot of people telling my this place was good. I was expecting authentic food.....not so much. Very bland. Sub par food and red water for salsa. I wouldn't go back it if was free. read more

I always leave this place happy because the food is that good! Anytime I'm at a place that serves tacos I get carne. This place serves bottles of soda and not fountain drinks and the salsa is very spicy. Beans and rice are so good. I would go back. read more

The food is delicious and i ordered a torta and it was just perfect. I will definitely be coming back soon!

Found this hole in the wall place with great food and great prices! Id highly recommend

No menu online! No calories per plate! No description of what the food is and only cash! OHh and may I mention the nasty trash they leave outside for everyone to see. What a nasty place! Very outdated and dirty! read more

Best Mexican food in will county, HANDS DOWN. This is the real deal!!!!

If you're looking for great $1 tacos, this is the place to go! Delicious tacos for $1 on Wednesdays! Bring cash because it is cash only!

We are always on the hunt for a good taco place as my husband thinks he is to eat them on a consistent basis. We went here on a Wednesday as they have $1 tacos (chicken, pork and steak only). The first time we sat down with our two little ones who devoured the complimentary chips and salsa. We thought everything was great, except the chicken was a little dry. The next time we visited, we took our order home. They give you plenty of everything to make sure your experience is short of dining in (minus chips). We had all steak tacos and they were delicious. We will be frequenting this place, especially on Wednesdays :) read more

Tried a huarache for the first time and it was amazing! Highly recommend trying one if you want to try something new and delicious! Definitely coming back soon. read more

Amazing, authentic, fresh Mexican food. Great service fantastic prices. Can't complain. Get the hurrache!!!

$1tacos on Wednesdays! The steak Asada was excellent, Al Pastor just ok. The green hot sauce was excellent!

They have the best huaraches. Which is a bigger taco/quesadilla. I get the steak. . Kinda of hidden place but worth time and effort .

Just stopped in tonight in our way to Indiana. This place was legit. Very much a hole in the wall. Tacos taste like the real street tacos you can get in Mexico. Only warning is it is CASH ONLY. read more

Great food, great service nuzzled in a small community. Big portions on dinners, prefect size for any appetite. Very affordable, But be warned CASH ONLY. read more

No joke, this is one of the most delicious places I've eaten... My family was on it's way home and we swing by this place: BEST DECISION EVER. I will be forever dreaming of those huaraches. read more

First if all, it's in a hilarious neighborhood. If you feel confident strolling through downtown Rockdale at night without being strapped, I applaud you. Once you get past that it's all gravy. The food is cheap and relatively fresh, but their homemade salsas are shwag. It's cash only, which means one of two things. They are a money laundering operation, or they're a bunch of rebellious hipsters. I'm hoping it's the latter. The hours of operation are frustrating, I've been left out in the cold more than a few times with this place. Despite all of the pitfalls associated with this place, it's easily the best mexican place in a 10 mile radius. read more

El Comal is my favorite place to eat! The hurachas are da bomb diggity. All people must know the power of the infamous hurachas! Come hungy and ready to get your eat on. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Joliet! For vegans, the beans are vegan without lard but the rice has chicken stock in it. I got avocado and bean tacos and they were delicious! Their guacamole is exactly how I like it- simple and a little spicy. The homemade fresh chips and salsa are also fantastic! My family got Huaraches and they loved them. Only bottled water and Jarritos & also cash only. Cheap prices, too! Really nice staff and great service. The restaurant is super cute and has a juke box. . I can't wait to come back to Joliet for El Comal! read more

Best tacos I have had since living in Texas! This place is a gem. I was very impressed with the price and quality of the food. Definitely will be back read more

Great huaraches. I ordered al pastor with no onions but they still put it on the side which I am thankful for. They were almost like caramelized onions read more

Best. Guacamole. Ever. I've been here secretly when I was pregnant while my husband was at work because I didn't feel like sharing.

Food is awesome, if you beed a quick bite and authentic taste for Mexican food!! Been going here since I met my husband lol

Great Huaraches! But they accept cash only.

They have ok tacos- one step up in authenticity from the "burrito" chains. The huaraches are what you want to get! $1 Taco Wednesdays, and well, you get your moneys worth. read more

Food was good but service could be a lot better. I felt like it was a self service place but it is not.

Burritos are great, Huaraches are great. I have been here 20 times now and I have never been short of impressed with the freshness of the food, attentiveness of the wait staff and the low impact price point. read more

Not a bad place, was really busy so that's always a good sign. Pastor was a little dry and not to par but the rest of my party enjoyed the steak tacos. They serve 3 different hot sauces with the chips, all were decent. Wed is dollar tacos. read more

Awesome place! make sure you order the chorizo huaraches they are HUGE, and very tasty. The place is small and most of the time you have to wait some time for someone to take your order but is well worth the wait for great Mexican good . Only thing that I didn't like is that is CASH only but is ok I guess. read more

Ordered the pastor and steak tacos, chips and guacamole, with beans. it was delish! This place is a hidden gem! read more

El Comal - Shrimp huarache, pastor and steak tacos and beans. - Mexican Near Me - Rockdale, Illinois

Wow. Stumbled across this place. Excellent food. This is the best Pastor tacos I've ever had. The chips and salsa at the table is fantastic. I order tacos Togo every time we go, they just expanded and it looks really inviting. read more

We are in the area visiting family and my aunt tells me that there is a place that sells huaraches. Obliviously, we had to get some so I ordered the al pastor huarache. The meat was tender and really flavorful, the tortilla was huge, but I could have used more cheese. Overall, extremely satisfied. I also liked that they brought out 3 types of salsa for the table to share. If we are in the area again, I am defiantly coming back. read more
