I'm going to preface this by saying this is a review of their carry-out tacos because I haven't had anything else from there. This place is good. Really good. Like, really really good. The tacos are cheap ($1 Wednesdays!) but on the smaller side, which is fine. I get three tacos and it's enough for a thinner adult male. And believe me when I say their chicken is their best meat. All the meat is good, but the chicken is especially good and has just a slight spice to it that you don't even notice until halfway through your second taco. The only gripe I have with this place, and it isn't a gripe with this place really but, is that the woman who works the phone/register doesn't speak very good English. It's passable, and I get my orders in, but when you're trying to order 40 tacos, the language barrier becomes pronounced. But, I'm not going to knock any stars because the food really is that good. Some of the worst service I have seen in the restaurant industry. The servers just wander around and do nothing. Try to pay for you meal? Even harder! Everyone working needs some customer service training. I have heard of alot of people telling my this place was good. I was expecting authentic food.....not so much. Very bland. We are always on the hunt for a good taco place as my husband thinks he is to eat them on a consistent basis. We went here on a Wednesday as they have $1 tacos (chicken, pork and steak only). The first time we sat down with our two little ones who devoured the complimentary chips and salsa. We thought everything was great, except the chicken was a little dry. The next time we visited, we took our order home. They give you plenty of everything to make sure your experience is short of dining in (minus chips). We had all steak tacos and they were delicious. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Joliet! For vegans, the beans are vegan without lard but the rice has chicken stock in it. I got avocado and bean tacos and they were delicious! Their guacamole is exactly how I like it- simple and a little spicy. The homemade fresh chips and salsa are also fantastic! My family got Huaraches and they loved them. Only bottled water and Jarritos & also cash only. Cheap prices, too! Really nice staff and great service. The restaurant is super cute and has a juke box. . First if all, it's in a hilarious neighborhood. If you feel confident strolling through downtown Rockdale at night without being strapped, I applaud you. Once you get past that it's all gravy. The food is cheap and relatively fresh, but their homemade salsas are shwag. It's cash only, which means one of two things. They are a money laundering operation, or they're a bunch of rebellious hipsters. I'm hoping it's the latter. The hours of operation are frustrating, I've been left out in the cold more than a few times with this place. Despite all of the pitfalls associated with this place, it's easily the best mexican place in a 10 mile radius. read more

The place is small and most of the time you have to wait some time for someone to take your order but is well worth the wait for great Mexican good . Since I've been dating my husband, we usually go there on Fridays. I haven't been to any other mexican restaurant that serves huarache. It is by far our favorite dish! The nachos (pastor) are THE BEST! The chicken quesadillas are the best I've ever had. Oh my! Everything they have is delicious! The place is a hole on the wall, they only take cash (they have an atm machine), very informal, but authentic. Also, great family environment. I always bring family and friends to this place!
