Omg!!! I'm from the Bay Area. And if you know anything about the Bay Area, especially Oakland, they have the best taco trucks of all time! So I'm always skeptical when I try new taco truck if it's not in the bay. What I do is order one taco and that's all. I want to see the quality of meat that they have. After I devoured it, I ordered a super burrito. So you already know it was fire. I'm not gonna lie that was one of the best burritos I've ever had. I got Carne. So juicy. I don't care for the tortillas that are not grilled on the outside. I got my burrito home, and opening up the burrito felt like unveiling a culinary masterpiece! It was beautifully brown on the outside. Not to mention it was freaking humongous. As you will see from the pictures below. I used a cup of noodles so you could gauge how big it is. That burrito was two meals for me. I would've paid $20 for that burrito, it's super affordable. I've never experienced re-warming a burrito with avocado, and it not tasting completely disgusting. I was completely amazed when I put it in the microwave and it actually tasted just like when I first got it. They must have some special secret recipe to keep the avocados from tasting discussing after they are reheated. Obviously I'm just joking. I don't know how they did it. I believe the young lady's name at the counter was Vicky, she was super sweet and so friendly to me. But sometimes I don't get to experience that because I'm not Spanish-speaking. Unfortunately, a lot of workers at taco trucks treat you different if you're not Latino. Thank you so much I will be back! read more

Stopped by on a Saturday & there was a long line (which is good new to me!). My partner & I ordered an order of asada fries & an order of birria fries. The woman taking the orders wasn't the friendliest, but the food was good! Pros: The orders of fries were HUGE and for a very reasonable price. We definitely would have been okay with just ordering one meal. The birria and asada were both very good, well seasoned. Both of our orders of fries were delicious. The cons: We arrived around 3pm (they close at 6) & they were already sold out of a lot of their meats. We were told that it would be a 20-25 min wait, which we expected because the line was so long, but ended up waiting closer to 40 mins. As soon as we got our food, they closed? Which is super odd, their hours are very inconsistent as we had planned on stopping by other days & they were already closed or gone! read more

El Chalan - Birria/ Asada fries HUGE - Food Trucks Near Me

This place is a must-try in Sacramento. Their meats are well-seasoned and of really good quality. I didn't get any fatty bits in my asada, which I consider a plus. The portions are very large and are reasonably priced! The wait was about 40 minutes for our order, but to their credit, they were very busy. I'd recommend getting there early also as they do tend to sell out of some meats before closing. read more

Drive past this place over & over again. Always said I would check it out & today was that day. Ordered a super steak burrito (no rice) & my god I thought I ordered a burrito that was for a food eating contest. That thing can feed 4 people easily. The meat was super moist & they do not hold back on the meat or flavor. A must go to spot. Can't believe I been passing up good food for months. read more

Ordered their burrito and carne asada fries. They give out really good portions and gave good service. :)

Just happened to be in the area and spotted tacos el chalan. Saw decent reviews and picked up lunch for me and the husband. We both got 3 quesabirria tacos w/o onion. It was less than $25 for both of us and it was plenty of food. The crispy, cheesy outside of the taco combined with the incredible tender meat, spicy salsa and rich consumme was amazing. Also loved that they include a charred Serrano for those looking for an extra kick which I always am. Will return for these tacos and to try some other menu items asap. read more

El Chalan - Quesabirria tacos w/consumme - Food Trucks Near Me

The food here is huge and delicious. I always thought food trucks were over price and small, but this one is good. There service has a lot of food on options on their menu. They may be located in an area where it can be sketchy but they serve really good food at an affordable price and the ambience is good. Burritos are worth buying and sharing with your family. read more

I got the quesabirria and they were 10/10. We also got the carne asada burrito and no jokes, it was HUGE. Tasted amazing. Nice customer service too. Do note it's a truck with no seating area so you'll have to bring it home or sit somewhere else. Overall 10/10 :) read more

Best taco truck in Sacramento. They cook it fresh and when they say ready in 15 they mean it. Prices are fair. Food is flavorful. Menu has a variety of options. If we choose to eat out one of the days during our week, this is the spot! read more

Great food! Great people! Unbelievable prices! This is my new favorite place. I go out of my way to stop by here!

First time trying them & I am impressed! We had their Birria Fries & their california burrito. Their birria is really good so much flavor. Everything was fresh and blessed. Cant wait to try other things from the menu. Everything from their salsa to their asada was really flavorful. Super satisfied. They were very helpful great service and had plenty of parking at the time we went. read more

10$ for the asada burrito on a Tuesday, should've got 5 tacos instead-- they're only 2$, i guess. i guess, that is pretty good pricing... plus one star for that. they didn't offer or give any salsa, even though obviously I wanted salsa since I asked for chips and salsa before I ordered the burrito... idk I felt slighted by the service woman, but um, I remember Miguel Ruiz's Toltec Wisdom Rule #1:Take nothing Personally. So on to be impeccable with my words here: Huge Burrito! I cut it in half when I got to my office, I only ate half... if I go back, I will have to make sure I get some salsa. I only like going places with good salsa, n since i go pretty regularly, i know they have good salsa. 3 stars because the carne asada was spicy.(+) Not 4 stars because, I know I'm hard to please. dos muchos info, ciao. read more

This place is a hidden gem. You need two hands (dos manos) for the burritos. Priced right even with things going up due to inflation, this is still a legit place to go. I haven't had chunky fat in my meat unlike some places. It does take some time to prepare the food since they cook it after you order so it's fresh and hot for you. It's not a quick get you out back to your car place. Cashier is friendly. Parking is easy. I have two taco truck places that I would recommend and this is one of them. read more

We drove through as we were passing Sacramento on the way back to SF. So glad we did because these were the best taco's I have had in a LONG TIME. Definitely better than any tacqueria in SF. We a mixture the Soft and Hard shell taco's, both tasted AMAZING with all meats on offer. read more
