Located on Bilbao off the corner of Manuell Montt, Machu Picchu is situated on a busy street…read moresurrounded by interesting dining options. However, if you are decided between where to go, in my opinion, Machu Picchu is the one to pick - without a doubt as it is one of my favorite Peruvian restaurants in Santiago.
Machu Picchu boasts great quality with their outstanding taste and a nice atmosphere (plus it won't break the bank!).
One of the great things about Machu Picchu is that it can be for both a relaxed dinner or a date night (meaning you can either dress up or down and you won't feel out of place).
I recommend coming hungry and with a friend so you can share the different delicious dishes. My partner and I always make the "mistake" of sharing a ceviche and then both getting a main dish (half-way through we are stuffed!). Better to order 2 dishes and share so you can get a taste of both - that way you will have room for dessert!
As you start your meal, I suggest trying one of their Peruvian pisco sours, great to set the mood.
A must-try is their ceviche al cilantro, a delicious mix of traditional Peruvian ceviche with a cilantro cream sauce...yum!
As for the second dish, I am tied between the risotto de camarones (served with fresh parmesan on top) and the Pulpo al Olivo (with deliciously creamy olive sauce). You will have to make the decision for yourself.
If you are lucky, you will enjoy your meal with a live band. Usually, during the busy weekend nights, local artists come through to play in the restaurant.
Tip:
On any given day, this restaurant is always super busy. I recommend calling to make a reservation ahead of time so your wait is to a minimum (although they have a nice lounge where you can wait and drink a cocktail).
